I’m 57 years old and have had dozens of Mustangs throughout my life. Watching this video and seeing your excitement about this car totally makes me smile reminding me of when I was your age and buying a cool Fox body Mustang when I was in my early 20’s. I have subscribed to your channel just because of your excitement about this car, and my interest in what you’re going to end up doing with it! Congrats!!
Back in about 1985, my best friend and I were car shopping for him. He was looking for a Mustang. I discovered the local Ford dealer had an incredibly well kept King Cobra (red in color) that had just been traded in on a new Mustang. Very low mile as well. We went and checked it out and it was completely flawless in every respect. I was totally drooling over it, begging my friend to buy it. He hated it and ended up buying a 1979 Turbo Mustang with a manual transmission. At least I got to drive the King Cobra for a little while during the test drive. Cool car you got there.
Well done mate make sure you give it an oil and filter change (wixs) asap and new spark plugs and check your rear axle oil !!! But we'll done for saving this old classic and enjoy restoring it you will learn so much from it 😊😊
Love the car! For some reason, some folks like to hate on these cars and forget that while the Mustang ll was based on Ford's economy car (the Pinto), it was actually true to the same formula used for the original Mustang which was based on Ford's econo-car of that era, the Falcon. Great find dude! Enjoy!
The newer Mustangs aren't really my thing, but this one sure is. Great car, rare as heck, and that dark metallic blue over camel is one of the best color combos that these came in. Great find!
I always liked the style and paint/trim on those but as far as being a good car they left a lot to be desired. I don't think I'd call these models the "King of all Mustangs"
Cool car kid, you seem pretty happy n proud, survivors are really rare now. When i was like 8 or 9 there was a 76 nova SS that used to drive by my grand parents i thought it was super cool it was loud, jacked up , 14" aluminum slotted mags, 60 series tires and custom ss stripes on the hood n trunk. The car was only a few years old, any way i grew up forgot about it then in my mid 20s (1995ish) i made a trade for money and a nova for my really sweet 85 z28, so i go to look at the nova an when i pulled in i said hey is that big eds wife's old nova? Yup, I thought it was cool as hell the car i would hear then run out to the road to watch go by was mine now. That thing was a burnout machine! Supposedly the sheriff's dept had so many complaints of burn outs they were all looking for me I was told when I got pinched doing a burnout.
🇺🇸👍 Good luck with your King Cobra 🐍. I own a 76 V6 4 speed, and a 77 V6 automatic. I also own a 2016 V6 Mustang automatic since new and owned an early model 65 K code 4 speed, AC, PS, but sold it after 15 years BIG MISTAKE. Yours will be a money pit for awhile, but you’re starting off with really good bones and only 39K on it. Enjoy it maybe you’ll hand it down to one of your kids later in life.
I’ve been on the fence about trying to track a ‘78 down. I have an ‘04 GT convertible that I bought new. I’m giving to my son for his graduation from college gift literally this week lol. Need another Mustang. Either something old or a newer Shelby. Where in Florida are you ? I’m in Cape Coral.

That looks exactly like my 1978 King Cobra, except mine had a black interior.
You're going to need a new set of headers, those are rotten.
All Pintos had Rack and pinion.
King cobra meets super snake 7.3 Godzilla

Original or restomod. Always liked them.
I used to have two of these and they were the most annoying things to work on ever.
Most ghias have the nice center consoles
A fool and his money will soon depart..
