Always good to "Know a guy"....kudos to Johnny at GAW! I gotta say if I had access to a cool lift and tools, I'd probably do more work myself. Nice deal you have there, help him with stuff and he let's you use a bay/lift. That trailer at the end is wicked cool! Be fun to have a "road trip" in that for sure!! Nice TRX air!!
JR, another trick to get new tie rod ends located is while the original is on, measure from the center of the joint up the rod 10" (any set distance) and scratch a mark. No counting needed as you just screw the new on until the measurement matches. Great video!
The Jag seems to be much better. We have had so many bad Jaguars come through the dealer auction over here in Georgia. It is nice to see some get fixed.
gotta say it must be nice to have a friend with a garage that will allow you to come in and do minor work on your vehicle as well as allowing you to use their tools if need be lol
I have and rebuilt the same car and the control arms are a mandatory change, i replaced the uppers and pressed all now bushings in the lowers... That made the biggest difference in handling overall but I replaced absolutely everything in the suspension
I did that “poor man’s” tie rod end replacement once and got it so good that the next day when I got tires, drive axles, and an alignment, they told me the alignment was already nearly perfect.
Same! I changed the entire steering rack, rack bushings, and inner and outer tie rods. Took it for an alignment and when i came to get it they said "No charge". I was like "why?" and they said it was already perfect. I've changed plenty of front end parts on many cars, and never had that happen again lol
This is a problem Lincoln LS owners have too. they just wont align properly. Its just due to the chassis aging, and certain parts strethcing ever so slightly over time. IK most LS owners get modified Tie rods and things.
I hated the oem Jaguar lugnuts cause everytime when i went to the shop with somekind of problem the service technician constantly stripped my lugnuts and i ended up buying new ones. One day i got really tired of it and started to digging the internet for some solution and i found a company in LA California who have recognized this problem and they manufactured out of chrome steel. Got a whole set and after that my problem has gone.
The chrome-steel ones are pretty cheap on e-bay, I bought a whole load of them to replace all of mine on both my S-type and XF. The original equipment ones with the capped rusty steel are not good, especially if the garage putting your wheels on torques them to factory spec. I had two snap on the S-type trying to get them off. That's when I went looking for new ones which weren't the factory ones!
To keep the electric parkbrake off when the ignition is switched off, keep the chrome operating button (on the cenre console) pressed down as the ignition is switched off and the key is removed
Think you should change the front grill for the mesh, I think it looks that much tidier ,, loving this series If I remember in mine, if you hold the parking brake down for 3+ seconds , it will say off ?
Reminds me of swapping my front subframe, upper and lower control arms on my Mazda rx8, I eyeballed everything and took it for an alignment and everything was dead in spec except my driver's toe which was dead on the limit, the alignment guy didn't believe that I set everything by eye, but then said do you want a job. Hahaha, rear arms are more tricky as it's multi link(5 per side) and toe affects camber and vice versa.
It's the same setup as my XJ X350. I can't get it aligned because the front is so loose that I get a different reading every time it goes on the tracking machine, but they can't tell which bushing is causing the problem. It's probably all of them 😭
If it is not the bushings. I think that the car is old enough and heavy enough to have the springs replaced. I would double-check the bearing now that you have the rest of the suspension tight.
Something similar happened on my 2020 jetta rline they said they would have to shim the k member in order to get my Camber correctly and then it would just make the other side off
Thats odd I had a bad front took it to the local shop made it perfect talked to the mechanic he said was pretty straight forward I replaced all my tie rods one sheared off on me while I was driving at 30 crazy
I tried that poor man's alignment "counting turns" on an S-Type many years ago, then on long motorway bends it was unstable and over reacting above 50 mph, then after computer alignment it was perfect
The worst alignment I ever had was with my old beater. I went for the alignment while replacing the tires the car had since I bought it and they told me I needed to shim the left rear hub. As I drove out of the shop I realized the vibration had been from a bent hub, not the China tires! How did they not notice?
If I could help Watch JR Goes and The Car Ninjas align the Jaguar I would drink the shot of whiskey and the cold Bartle Skeets with them and roll up the 7 Paper Wool-Os with them and get all schmoked up
So the million dollar question is.....what does it take to buy the Stype when its all dialed in? Keep on improving it JR. And then keep it as a daily for a few months honestly. Enjoy it!
That's fd up that there's some legal red tape. I'm curious...yet I understand if you can't say anymore about it. Any more updates on your dad's golf cart/motorcycle? Anything going on with finding a shop? Haven't heard about that in a while, excited to see you setup another location after learning from the first one. I've been subscribed for a while from Wisconsin, shout out to RING BROS, they always come through with solid projects.
I bet Jon had a great time test driving that M3.... too bad the news wasn't better for your Jaguar. Guess you'll have to do a bit more work on that suspension before you can do a "spirited" test drive. :D
@Väinö Hotti two Ford CMax's, BMW 2 Series, 2 Honda CRV's and 3 Citroen C4 Grand Picasso's, a C4 Grand Spacetourer and a Skoda Kodiaq that I test drove last week all have it as standard. All cars from the last two decades.
@@gooddypm well, I have also driven several euro cars from the last 2 decades... 2 audi A4s, W210, 211, 212 Mercs, E61, F11, E90 Bmws, 2 Mondeos, 3 Volvos, Peugeot 508, 2 Superbs, mk5 Jetta & Golf and probably quite a few more. Only a '14 Volvo V40 and the 508 did engage the brake automatically.

Great video!
That's what I was thinking would be more likely to be accurate (or very close).
Has Johnny asked you when you’re putting a lift in your garage?Lol
Nah, the alignment lift is kinda out of the way over there, keeps me out of their way 💯
@@WatchJRGo When you get a new place, will you fork out the money for an alignment rack or rollback?
@@WatchJRGo 😂😂😂
His garage isn't tall enough for a lift.
@@jo6520 It was meant to be funny not literal JR understood
I’m quite anxious about the state of the chain tensioner in this wonderful old Jag. I’m rooting for it to have the awesome good twilight it deserves.
I said the same thing in the first video and he basically made fun of me lol

Glad you took a mini vacation from the youtube grind. You deserve it.
To prevent the parking brake from engaging, hold the P switch down while removing the key.
I tried that and it set so I just left the key in the cylinder and it stayed off
While holding the brake pedal down.
You get a alignment... You get a alignm... You get a alignment... Watching now 👍
Whoa the TRX course was awesome 🤘🏽🔥

You may have to replace all the bushings in the rear suspension. I have that issue on my car.
Looks like Car Ninja has respect for JR's wrenching game - I'd take that as high compliment
Take more breaks brother! Keeps up the interest and saves u from burning out.

When are you getting a new shop?
Best part of the video was the TRX ride. I felt the impact...
Wow, that'll be the most sorted Jag on the road when you're done!
That's the plan! 💯
Something similar happened on my 2020 jetta rline they said they would have to shim the k member in order to get my Camber correctly and then it would just make the other side off
That TRX experience was awesome!
The e46 Luna Seca blue is my dream car… I would take it over anything on planet earth.
Those trx gonna need a new front end after those jumps.
The seats in that thing look GMT800-level comfortable..
The allen heads on the end links always strip out when you try to remove them. I always cut them off with a cutoff wheel.

I had this cars brother the Lincoln LS. That car put me through HELL. Blew my timing chains twice and the transmission went in it to boot.
That Ring Bros teuck is pretty sweet!
Would love if you did some more enthusiast cars like that e46! Beat up examples of mid 00’s sports cars would be some dream content!
Now i want to see a stock TRX do that.
Same JLR Era as my Discovery 3. No matter how many suspension parts I change, the alignment is never "right"!
Another great video from JR. Keep it going
Great job on the repairs. Please JR, replace that steering wheel !

From balmy Minnesota, -15F enjoying hot cocoa and peppermint schnapps Trailer lounge reminded me of an old train car. No trading Jag for M3?
That M3 would be amazing to own... the owner said he'll never sell it 😳
Here from luckys channel nice truck just stopping by
It's a shame Randy didn't keep his TRX. He probably would've loved a chance to drive it through that course.
Love the sound of the M3. Who has been ticked for similar exhaust leak
Do you plan to replace all 4 struts as part of the suspension rebuild?
Look up brutal’s alignment for better tracking and tyre wear or they eat front tyres.

This is a S-Type, not a X-Type
Need to replace them or the bolts themselves as common issue in uk
LOL: "It's the count it method if you don't have an alignment machine...." as JR is literally standing 8 inches from an alignment machine ;-)
Fix or change the leather of that steering wheel
Just a wild guess, but Johnny seemed to want to call it a day.
Looking fwd to more B-J vids.
Note to self: don't buy used promotion TRXs from Dodge.
"I let you see just how bad the tie rods are..." Lol, That rear brake rotor doesn't look so hot either.
Come one @Hunter when JRGO gets the new shop he will need an alignment machine :)
My G35 needs all new control arm bushings all around and shocks all around as well. I'm not looking forward to the cost.
Bro you should take this to VanGo to get detailed and you gotta get a new steering wheel or something if they can't fix it
Those cars must be sweet to be so labor extensive to keep on the road
Hey JR, car crusher update? When are we going to see it eat?
