You are by faaaaaaar the best Korean teacher online. The aspects of learning you pick up are unusual - and hit the nail on the head. Thank you so much!
I mostly learn korean by listening to short conversations within a certain topic. That help me to learn vocabulary by topic/category like "introduction", "food/eating","music","playing games"... For now, I don't focus on grammar or knowing the difference between verbs and nouns or particles. I write what I hear as I hear it, then repeat constantly the phrases, focusing only on the pronounciation and the tone. Actually, I practice with my bird as if we are having a real conversation I think my bird like mostly the words "Chincha?" and "Pegopayo ?"and "kwenchana"
I’m still really early in learning Korean, but I find saying 똑똑하다 really fun to say, so I’ll never forget the meaning, it’s really effective if you can find things to like
yess! 100%, actually I’ve noticed when learning English, I just knew very few words from school like how to say few animals, yes no, why, and and basic vocabulary, but it just was so easy to learn cuz I saw so so much English content, ofc I understood very few of the videos but tiktok apparently has a translate thing, and I just didn’t actually memorise anything but saw it so many times and my brain had an idea of what it means, so I understood so many words from context, or just idk, they spawned in my head
I liked this video the most, Ive actually been wanting you specifically to make a video on how to learn vocab . I wish you could make a part 2 With even more ways. Also I bought your EBOOK because I belive it was a unique good idea for a sources I seldom buy stuff like this cuze everything is the same but this was a but unique source so that is why I bought it. :)
I like watching your videos for learning advice because you are learning English yourself, and as a native speaker I wanted to help you out on something small! In this video you used “For your information” when starting a sentence where you wanted to further explain yourself. The meaning for native speakers is actually a little bit rude and often used sarcastically as we rarely use this to actually give someone genuine information. To simply explain this, telling them you will give them informational then proceeding to give them information seems very redundant or repetitive. Otherwise, you are very well spoken and I am impressed by your efforts to help others learn something new! Hope this will help you out :)
I have a listening memory, i memorize mostly by watching kdrama since 15 years and flash card doesn't work for me even with image. Watching kdrama and speak korean with a korean teacher helped me a lot, i'm at intermediate level now. Reading is good ok specially webtoon, i can read some webtoon in korean but i memorize so much by listening and watching kdrama etc.
How about grammar connectors and markers usage? Can you help us how to memorize it? I really need to memorize those huhuhu 😭 Plus, the interrogative questions.
Listening is really powerful. When you first introduced 다투다 it didn't sound familiar, but when you said 저는 오늘 엄마랑 다퉜어요 something clicked and I realized "oh, I've heard that many times in dramas and other videos I've seen." If I could go back in time to before I learned my first word in Korean to give myself one piece of advice, it would be "Listen more." More dramas, more interview shows, more podcasts - even if you don't understand them, it lets your brain get used to hearing the sounds. Listen enough and you'll find that phrases are sinking in without your even noticing it. Thank you for another great video, 선생님! ❤
Im a korean language student i watch korean content related to grammer & do shadow mimic it helps me to improve my speaking but i m still not able to figure out my interest towards the content i m still confused which content to consume thoroughly as my brain doesn't stick to any series & i get bored too easily i hardly watched any kdrama just 4-6 kdrama any tips that brings back my interest automatically to consume korean language asap
Like I said in this video, if it’s difficult for you to discriminating words by only listening, turning subtitles on is recommended! Otherwise, you don’t need to.
I tried korean content but sometimes I can't watch because korean shows are sometimes too cringy 🙃 but I have to push through! The music is sometimes not my type. Really hard lol I also use chatgpt to give me example beginner sentences using vocabulary words I am currently studying
They have some of the best dramas around. So much better than American rubbish. You must be watching the wrong shows. They have awesome story lines and actors are amazing too.
@alexcampbell7899 Give me names because I went through all of netflix and the Korean app TVing that my wife gave me. I think it's because of my taste 🤣🤣 I don't even like American tv shows either 😫💀
so while watching these K dramas with no subtitles, HOW DO I KNOW WHAT THEY ARE SAYING? Oh I know, YOU DON'T! So just listening does not work at all when you have no clue what they are saying.
even if you have no clue what they are saying it's good to acclimate the ears to hearing those sounds. start with small content so it's not a complete pool of words you don't understand. this cannot be the only form of input surely you would have got hello, how are you? before diving into comprehensible input.
I really like watching shows with your native language in the subtitles, then rewatching with Korean subtitles since I know roughly what’s happening, but I get to see the words they’re saying in 한글. I’m still a really early beginner, but it also lets me see the grammar points that I’m learning actually being applied
Watching kdrama with subtitles! He didn't say without, with subtitles you will understand the meaning and memorize so many words etc. I have a listening memory, i have watched kdrama since 15 years and it helped à lot and i took korean teacher classes. I'm at intermediate level, i understand even without subtitles, not all but i can understand one korean teacher who explained korean grammar in korean without subtitles and that's so great!

When watching things I like In korean, should I use subtitles or Just Watch normally?
Like I said in this video, if it’s difficult for you to discriminating words by only listening, turning subtitles on is recommended! Otherwise, you don’t need to.

it's the tragic or traumatic ending that gets me. I tell myself I wont watch another unless it has a happy ending 😅😂

Omg, it seems your mail has been considered as spam by the mail system automatically..!!! I replied you back!
More than 1000 Korean nouns originated from the Chinese language.
so while watching these K dramas with no subtitles, HOW DO I KNOW WHAT THEY ARE SAYING? Oh I know, YOU DON'T! So just listening does not work at all when you have no clue what they are saying.
That’s why I said “I personally recommend Korean content that has audio and text (scripts or subtitles) at the same time” in this video!
even if you have no clue what they are saying it's good to acclimate the ears to hearing those sounds. start with small content so it's not a complete pool of words you don't understand. this cannot be the only form of input surely you would have got hello, how are you? before diving into comprehensible input.
