Homebrewed my nephews’ wii and they absolutely love it. Unfortunately my Wii doesn’t recognize any SD cards so I can’t do it on mine but at least they have it! Thanks for all of your content, Blaine! Keep it up👍🏻
Mr Locklair, I just want to say. I really love your channel. And I really love your vibe and your enjoyment with these things. Idk you really give this vibe of the early/late 2000s yk those channels on cable tv where they showcase new games, new hacks or new things about the consoles
Thanks for this great tutorial. I'm setting up Retroarch on my son's Wii console, but I'm a bit confused about where you get the System file folder? At the start of the video you show the Roms folder, Systems & Bios folder & Retroarch zip file that are in the PC download folder? Where did the System / Bios folder come from thats shown in the PC Downoad?? At the end of the video you state I need to add this System / Bios folder to the SD Card? Please review my question and advise??
i downloaded retroarch and it just has the retroarch folder no roms folder or system folder, should i just create these or do they have specific organization and file paths?
can you tell or yet alone do a video on how to add retro arch or again better yet, other homebrew software to the VWii please and thanks you will be the first to do it on the internet
Any ideas why Retroarch doesn't create the "Retroarch" folder in the root of the SD card after first launch? No matter what I do, this folder does not get created and I have checked to make sure the SD is not locked too. Copied the Retroarch-Wii folder to the SD apps folder, popped it in to my Wii and run it for the first time and no folder is created. Any help would be appreciated.
Can we also please clarify that the hacking and homebrew apps can only be installed and read through the front memory card reader. I was trying to use USB sticks through the back portion of the wii and they just won't work. I know this may be obvious for some, but I think it can be worth mentioning that wii will only read the hack through the front memory card reader and not the back USB ports. Other than that thank you this tutorials are amazing.
Hey Blaine, first I want to thank you for all you do, your videos are truly the best on the entire internet when it comes to jailbreaking/modding systems. Because of you, I have easily hacked my DSi, N3DS, Switch and Vita and modded them how I want! Also Is there any way you could do a tutorial on installing Max Payne on the Vita sometime soon? It seems to be a bit more difficult than the other HB ports and I haven't been able to do it so far. Thanks again I hope you see this!
Hey Blaine another excellent video... Well done. I remember Letterbomb hacking my old Wii years ago. I still have it with all the old emus and Homebrew apps on it, as well as a hard drive full of Roms. Now I wanna go dig it out but i think it'll make the PS2 jealous. I'm finding myself addicted to retro-hacking every console I own.
I know that feeling. PSP, PS2, PS3, PS VITA, OG Xbox, Wii, Wii U, NES Classic, SNES Classic, Genesis mini, PS Classic...I may have a little bit of a compulsion.
Hello, Can you please let me with how to add more cores to RetroArch for the Wii? The reason I am asking, When I want to play my game roms. It only give me this option. "suggested cores" I don't see all of the cores that I want to use. Also I don't see a cores file on the sd card when I go into the RetroArch folder on the sd card.
idk if i did something wrong, but the thing doesnt load, idk if using a GC controller has something to do with that, but it just get stuck on a black screen
Having a hard time getting this to work. I already had homebrew channel on this old wii from a while back. Could I be needing to update it somehow? why does your sd card have an apps folder by default? Thanks... please help!
Personally I'd rather use stand alone emulators for the more customization + they just look cooler on my wii menu. But for someone who doesnt wanna go through all of that, this is a W
I followed your guide and have home brewed my WiiU. I want to also home brew my VWii. Do I need a separate SD card? Your VWii guide doesn’t cover what to do if you already have home brewed your Wii U. I know it’s possible to do it on the same one
Hey, one question about wii u modding, if I for any reason moved the thing that says dont touch me to another place of my homescreen will that brick my system? just wanted to know if there is a way to lock it to be extra careful
Cool video, but instead of going through all this to play retro games on the Wii or on any other console, you could just get the Super Console X Pro which is basically the same thing. I have it, and it's awesome! It has over 50,000 games on it from various consoles like Sega Genesis, NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Game Boy, GBC, GBA, Nintendo DS, PS1, PSP etc. So if you don't have the right equipment or a console to put Homebrew/Retroarch on, the Super Console is a great alternative. 👍
@@levistrnad2965 it isn't out officially but there is a fully working unofficial version you can download in the ps4 homebrew store! However this doesn't come with any cores and can't download the cores with the online updater so you will also need the retroarch core installer from the homebrew store. Just run unofficial retroarch to let the folders populate and then run the cores installer.
Hi Mr Bail, please gibe my wish a view. Im trying to get a Emulator Beast out of my Wii U (vWii). I would be more than happy if you could do a video with all possible Emulators that can run on Retroarch, its sufficient just to show it how with one game, to know what to do. Iv trieb Nei Geo, Uzem, CP1 and many more and they wont just start. I love your detail Videos and its so easy and clear to follow your steps, SO PLEASE do a "ALL IN RetroArch" how to Video. Yet another Saturday evening retro gaming project thanks to Blaine!!
Blaine Locklair At least 3 XD But as of today, they'll be forgotten no more

Did you formate your SD Card to FAT32?
it also works with a usb formated to FAT32. the original wii should have 2 usb ports on the back
@@blainelocklair you can plug the SD card into your PC, go to disk management, and shrink your SD card to below 32gb

I think its from retroarch pc. And you copy settings from pc to wii. But im unsure!
Ok i think i understand. I ran a gba core, and it auto creates the folder. then put the sd card back into pc, and you can add bios files!
I should do this since I'm not doing much else with my Wii...............
I'm very confused, what are these "system" files we need?
Your videos always help. Thank you for being super simple!
where did the systems folder come from that you already have in the video? i cant complete the process without it. some help is much appreciated.
Yeah, makes no sense
@@thuperthexthy3659 Y'all just right click, make a new folder, and name it system.

You are one of the best RUclipsrs out there thank you so much for the tutorial videos!!!!!!
How can i get the bios fills ?
By adding the systems folder does this add more emulators?? 🤔 mines not working and it’s in the root too. I copied everything exactly like you did

Retro arch is not loading, it just takes me back to the homebrew channel
Amazing tutorial. I was wondering if you can use any third party usb controllers? Thank you.
Blaine, you are an awesome person, you make jailbreaking easy!!
How do you use a USB external drive with ROMs and Retroarch on the Wii?

What about retroachievments?
Does it work on wii retteoarch?

I believe this version of RetroArch is just unstable now and no longer supported. There doesn't seem to be a fix for this at the moment.

Search for RetroArch bios pack. 😉
I am having a problem with usbgx loader saying 0.0gb when putting games in it will not rip them any suggestions
my opens reproach to a black screen
any fixes?
Delete the retroarch-wii folder from the apps folder on your sd card and then replace it with a fresh copy
