The Priiloader archive had been updated and the file structure will look a bit different. The archive now contains a "priiloader" folder, which is meant to go inside of the "apps" folder on your SD card.
should you create an apps folder now or what can i do?
I have followed all you said in the video, but when the string for the installation of hackmii appear they said Error and nothing else happen :c
Any suggestion?

Dude. I just want to say. Thank you so much. This was the only guide that got me through the whole process. Completely new to anything like this and got it all done flawlessly. Honestly such an amazing guide. Thank you so much!!!
Pretty good tutorial. Now I have digital copies of my Wii and Gamecube games and, even better, the loading times are super fast on a USB, way faster than those of the DVDs. This really helped me get started with Wii softmodding
Very organized and well structured tutorial! Thank you. Now I'm able to play wii games again and get my childhood memories back. I'm very grateful :")
Thank you for this very comprehensive guide. I'm going through my Wii and redoing everything from scratch and this video answers nearly every question I had, and shows me how to install and configure everything perfectly. Could not ask for a better guide than this.
You are doing this way better than anyone else I watched/read, thanks for the high quality content
Thank You dude! It really helped me Homebrew my wii. Other tutorials were very confusing, But yours was simple and easy to follow, Keep up the good work!
You're welcome! Glad the video helped
This video helped immensely with the whole process, it's so well put together and incredibly concise. It definitely helps people with little to no knowledge on the subject so a million thanks for being so thorough!
Can someone tell me what controllers I can/should be using if I can run n64 emulator on here. Do I have to use the wiimote/nunchuck?
@@Shorts11327 I just checked and you can use either your Wii/nunchuck controller OR a gamecube controller, not sure what else other than those two. I preferably use gamecube controller :)

Cheers for this! A tip for anyone new to this - the new Windows update has made it so that SD/USB drives are automatically converted to exFAT files. Homebrew doesn't take exFAT, so use an older computer when downloading files.
Is windows 10 good
This is false. Windows does not turn drives into exfat files.
This was the best and simplest tutorial to follow from every single one that I've tried to follow. I fell off of it initially due to the trial and error aspect of it and despite one hiccup, I was able to jump back in and finish the whole process in about an hour. This was my mom's birthday present so she could play the old mario games as well as Dr. Mario and everything went very smoothly! Thank you for the tutorial!
You’re welcome! Glad it helped you
I bought from ebay a semi-bricked Wii for... 5 euro. It was stuck in Preloader since years, I managed to get it working some day ago after reading many many many tutorials and viewing videos on YT. I must say that your tutorial is really one of the best and very precise. Thanks man! :-D
i had bricked my wii after tring to install a black wii menu. i was 13years old i just downloaded a dolphin wii system and put it on an sd card then installed it on the why idk how it worked but it's still working lol thos thing cannot die
Thanks for taking the effort to explain everything properly. I picked up a working Wii for no cost last week and I am going to try this over the next few days. I’ve got some experience with emulators and roms so know that side of things I just need this to walk through the home brewing. If I go for it I’ll update my results here afterwards for future reference. Can’t wait to play zelda
update - I followed this and got things working, although I had to use the updated DNS in the top pinned comments - I tried the first set and it worked fine, I have homebrew and the packages installed, and did the brick security backup. I now also have a secret hack menu like what a phone with developer options would open up. If my console gets bricked for any reason and it wont turn on properly or whatever I can hold power and reset to open a cool mod menu and run everything including my back up files from there so if the worst happened I could restore everything. the only thing I've experienced when in homebrew and the other installed apps within, every so often the console will freeze and I have to restart it - it's happened about 3 times in a good few hours of messing around and for all I know it could be my old console playing up or a setting I need to look at. Also the one package - the USB loader needs an update when it gets installed, when I see that program in the Homebrew browser it has a ? symbol next to it and when clicked it prompts me to update. It crashed when I tried so I will maybe reinstall that package tomorrow and re-do it. I managed to already get some cool games from the homebrew browser, some old classics like duck hunt and the old WIndows XP space pinball so I'm really happy. And I can install a multitude of stuff from the same browser app which is like a marketplace for cool utilities and software.
This has been a really cool and interesting project and made even more enjoyable by a clear and intuitive guide throughout every step so Thank you for taking the time and effort to do this and update the changes too. I might do a later update if I smooth out the little wrinkles I am experiencing, but it worked and everything that was shown was available and accessible.
Thanks :)
this tutorial rocks, this really helped me with homebrewing my wii/setting it up.

About time somebody made an updated tutorial for how to do this. There already are some out there but many are outdated and/or assume you already know how to do some things so aren't beginner-friendly. I already have my Wii modded but I'll show this to friends if they ask me how to do it.
Hey could you help me out: I did everything he did but my Homebrew only shows the screen with the bubbles and not the different menus.
@@R88ER Whenever I had that happen it was usually because my Wii was not reading the SD card correctly. But there could be lots of reasons so I can't be sure why it is that way for you. If you have another SD card on hand it couldn't hurt to copy the files to it and see if it works. Make sure it's formatted to FAT32, also, SD cards that are higher capacity than 32gb can cause problem sometimes. You could also try using a USB flash drive instead of SD card or vice versa. Good luck

I think it's noteworthy that if you have a GameCube controller connected, then you can use the D-Pad and A button to navigate the BootMii menu instead of the power and reset buttons on the Wii itself.
The only wiimote I knew the location of was so badly corroded that I couldn’t navigate the menu with it haha so I’m so glad you mentioned that.

Some advice for anyone that gets an error writing bootmii to their SD card at 8:18:
I formatted my SD card with FAT32 in windows using quick format, but I didn't set the allocation correctly. I had a 32GB SD card (Micro SD HDHC with adapter) and it needs to be formatted with 16 Kilobytes allocation size. I also unchecked quick format so it did a full format of the disk (this will take upwards of 30-45 min to do). Worked correctly after that.
Had the same problem with my USB drive 128 GB. Trying the same thing with 32 KB allocation.
Nintendo has a webpage about how the Wii adheres to strict SD Card format rules. They have a link to the official SD Card standards website and it has its own formatting tool (which I ended up not needing to use). This is probably worth trying out.
Here's a chart for SD Card size and what size the allocation should be:
< 64 MB: 512 bytes.
64 MB-128 MB: 1 KB.
128 MB-256 MB: 2 KB.
256 MB-8 GB: 4 KB.
8 GB-16 GB: 8 KB.
16 GB-32 GB: 16 KB.
32 GB-2 TB: 32 KB.
