  • It's not a well-kept secret, at least in the Bay Area where he's been called the "Superman" of their jazz scene, but Kenny Washington's incredible vocal talents are starting to get noticed. When he performed live in our studios, it was easy to see he's more comfortable as Clark Kent than the Man of Steel.
Kenny Washington was raised in America's jazz and party capital of New Orleans, but his father kept him away from the wild atmosphere of the French Quarter. His early musical training was in the gospel church, and he only picked up on jazz in his late teens.
Kenny Washington told us that his first studio album is currently in the works, though a release date is still undetermined. Our audience agrees we'll be in the front of the line when it's finally here. In the meantime, we know you'll enjoy these exclusive performances from the KNKX studio.

Saw him this evening in San Francisco. How can someone have a voice like this and not be a household name? 🧈 Absolutely wonderful. xx

Saw/heard Kenny for the first time about 20 years ago, and he blew me away! He's one of those musicians who you expect to become much better known than they are. Maybe he doesn't want a huge audience, but he deserves more notoriety. Just a fantastic singer who tells a story no matter what he sings.

Kenny sang this last night at the Sound Room in Oakland. He just gets better and better - so much style and his timbre is so rich. We love Kenny.

I knew Kenny when I lived in Guam, having been a Navy musician/vocalist myself. He was brilliant then, but I love the richness that three decades has given to him. Nice to hear these standards, as I have always loved them. Thank you for the gift of music, Kenny.

Fabulous ! - Kenny Washington ought to have been a 'household name' years ago. A little push up the ladder by way of KNKX Studio Sessions could help him on his way to his rightful place at 'The Top'!

    Absolutely gorgeous.
But, Dear KNKX, it's always nice to mention and tag ALL performing artists in the description, so they can be found when googled - which is also giving your video more hits. Share the love! The end credits ain't searchable.

@John Mayer I doubt that you are THE John Mayer. Regardless, I'd much rather hear Kenny go through the Great American Songbook than hear you play your music.
