Dark colas are actually super common in brisket, my grandma always uses root beer in hers. Coke was one of the first beverages that was made Kosher for Passover so the drink quickly became a staple in Jewish households.
Funny that you did this after Latkes. Jason's Deli, in Florida, makes sliders with brisket and Latkes with a Horseradish sour cream. Talk about Heaven on a bun.
Thank you, Babish, for making my favorite dish growing up. A lot of happy memories are attached to this dish for me, my grandfather was the family cook and Rabbi. How about the “Sal-Lad” from Spongebob Squarepants? As in, make up a full dressed-up Krabby Patty, and then remove everything but the lettuce and tomato.
Ah... No wonder you made latkes! Quick correction: use of potato starch would to keep it kosher for *Passover*, specifically. Adding flour to the sauce is perfectly kosher the other 51 weeks of the year.
Can I ask why? Does it have something to do with being too close to leavened/kneaded grain? I have a feeling it will be hard to google this question clearly with this many qualifiers.

While I’m not disagreeing, he actually said “hard to come by”. It might not mean “expensive”, it might actually mean “It was pretty hard to find [this particular cut of meat] because of the time of year/demand/rarity”. And he WAS looking for brisket during Passover.

Lav Ružić ayo wtf
This is too relatable right now
Where is my charger ?!?!?
@@rashoietolan3047 lol
Your lucky your something else than oppo f11 I used to own it had its own charger and wasn't a USB c or that more common usb so it was kinda bullshit

Gordan Ramsey : Wait that's my line you doughnut
no way would Gordon call Babish a donut, he saves his insults for lazy and/or ignorant ppl, and we all know Babish is neither of those things, i mean this man makes his own bread for sandwiches for christs sake.
btw good job, now i want these two to meet up, cook together and shoot the breeze, bloody hell as Gordon would say.
@@UltimateGamerCC dude it was a joke
Hmm that's definitely not what Ramsey would say. Not even swears. Needs at least 2 curses per sentence.
Mmm doughnuts.
Michael Goldberg fun fact, he only swears on american tv, in england, he's a lot less aggressive.
Andrew: “.......Chef John.......”

How is this comment section not overwhelmed with OMG I'm so glad you're better, Babish!!
Joey Klu what was wrong with him, was he sick or something
Ellena oh no
As a Texan who is a smoked, bbq brisket fanatic, I am very intrigued by this style! It looks fabulous!
You should do the Mac and cheese from “I’m not okay with this”. Hope you’re feeling better Babish!
That actually would be awesome
Yeees
I'm really still expecting it to taste terrible, so I'd be interested to see how he tweaks it
You mean Liam's Loaded Lasagna
@@Ayden.Eakins just what I was going to say!
Me a Texan: *crying watching this cause my local BBQ joint closed and I can't get brisket*
Our local BBQ place delivers now
Order in a bbq pit and grab a brisket from your grocery store?
I'm crying because I am out of delivery range for any BBQ and they are all closed.
*Cries in Canadian
Might as wel make this than :p
Because of the marvelous mrs. Maisel I tried brisket for a Christmas dinner in 2018. Been in love ever since. I have to try this recipe next time I make it.
LOVE the Jewish food theme! Between latkes and now this, can't wait to see what's next (challah for after the holiday??)! Happy Passover, if you're celebrating.
love the Chef John reference! Made me chuckle
Didn’t get to make the brisket this year, but you are absolutely right about how good the house smells after this puppy is done cooking. A few years ago I had a terrible stomach flu during Passover but as soon as I smelled that brisket being cooked I could eat again.
Yup, that looks exactly like the one the Orthodox Rabbi makes for every occasion. You got'er, Babish!
Thanks for sharing this fantastic brisket recipe.
After watching this video, I have made this about a six times over the last three years. Serve with some egg noodles and a nice, dark green salad. Fantastic recipe.
This week only: The clean seder plate club.
Do you want to finish half a horseradish?
Cedar, pretty sure that was porcelain though
The clean סדר plate club!
“4 springs of thyme are gently jostled” 😂
I too have made this my standard Passover/Easter meal. I used 2 containers of the leftover gravy as a base for an AMAZING goulash! Give it a try!
Chef John references always make me smile
I made this for Passover, and it was the best Passover brisket I have ever had! Do give this a try even if you don't celebrate
Just made this recipe for Easter Dinner...absolutely UNREAL!!! Keep ‘em coming.
Got this in the oven right now for Easter dinner tomorrow!💥 Thanks Babby!
Gotta love seeing Home Cooks and Chefs make Kosher meals!
Also love the fact that Kosher salt was used in a Kosher meal...
I am so ready for tomorrow night!
We're having shwarma for our seder
Not kosher for pesaj since he added flour
@@TheTimeEngineer with the thick soft Matza that was created before the industrial revolution and still today by Yemenite and other Mizrahi Jews that can be completely Kosher for Passover.
This entire video made me smile so much, I love the little references here and there! Can't wait for the delicious meal tomorrow night! Have a very happy and healthy Seder!
i still gotta buy the kedem to replace the wine this year. It's been hard to come by recently
My thought throughout this entire video: OH MY GOD.
This looks amazing!
"this brisket was pretty expensive so i dont want to take any chances." - The guy that spent 300$ on a every meat burrito
*500$
While I’m not disagreeing, he actually said “hard to come by”. It might not mean “expensive”, it might actually mean “It was pretty hard to find [this particular cut of meat] because of the time of year/demand/rarity”. And he WAS looking for brisket during Passover.
@@Kate1nator Kosher brisket no less! Granted it might be a bit cheaper in NYC, but a flat cut kosher brisket near me is $13 a pound
*$600
That was before the pandemic/ lockdown.
Best show out there, hands down. I mean Marvelous Mrs maisel.
Thank you so much for the recipe. Just made it for the family sedar... big hit!
Thought it was going to be served on a pyrex
As it should be
I made this for Thanksgiving and it was great, so great that I made the braising liquid into a soup by thinning out the recipe with broth and water and flavoring it with a short rib. Yes, it.’s beef brisket vegetable soup!
Just made this for dinner, big hit with the whole family. this is a delicious meal and the recipe was easy to follow. Thank you for improving the quality of my dinner. this is definitively going in my recipe box.

Texans, seeing a brisket go into an oven: *wot in tarnation*
Try pastrami then.
Texan here. I may prefer a brisket that's smoked and grilled, but I also know that sometimes that's just not an option. I'd totally have a brisket as made in the video, especially if I didn't have to pay for it :D
@@DrThemoWorm right. I love eating Texas brisket but I so want to try this too
