We are going to be buying my great grandfather's farm. The house was there before he bought it. To say we will have fun discovering and remodeling is an understatement.
I inherited my grandmother and great grandmothers canning jars. I had to get into my great grandmothers the other day and there was a blue ball jar from 1927. She also had several jars that had neat patterns or decorations on them. The one thing I noticed was that even then the weight of ball jars was so much heavier than the kerr
O my gosh Rachel, what a score on those jars!! I just got several large glass peanut butter jars with the lids from my father in law today. I'm going to use them for leftovers. I am slowly getting rid of ALL my plastic.
Breakfast for dinner was one of my favorite meals as a kid. Mom said too tired to cook so we had pancakes and a breakfast meat. We did not always have morning family breakfast so it was a real treat.
I'm sorry I had to pause at 1:40 to write this, the dog in the background going under the blanket! 😍 Stole the show! Also thank you so much for sharing these videos, I know I'm only 1:40 in on a 21:33 video put I already know I will enjoy every second of it. Sending love from Sweden 🇸🇪
Your kids SCORED on the time capsule house! Congratulations to them (and you 😉). Loving your pantry meal series. We are a family of two now that the kids are gone and enjoy seeing what we can create with our food storage.
Rachel, did you really pour out the juices from the jarred chicken? 😲 Except for beans, I save all the juices from my home canned meats. It goes into the freezer container of pan drippings, and all the bits and dabs of leftovers no one is going to eat. When the freezer container is full, it’s Everything But the Kitchen Sink soup night. When the kids were all home I had separate containers for beef, pork and chicken. Now, with just the 2 of us, it all goes into the same container. Things you might not think to save adds to the wonderful depth of flavor it has. I rinse out the ketchup and steak sauce bottles with a little water and into the freezer container. Try it, you’ll be amazed at how it all comes together. I adjust seasonings and add a few herbs and when the word is out that Mama made a big pot of soup, everyone heads home!
Just found your channel thanks to the pantry challenge and I love it. You two are so fun together. Love that you use the outdoors as a fridge/freezer. I hail from Minnesota, so we have always called it the MN freezer. Lol. Comes in really handy during a busy season. The pasta dish, my mum used to make one just like it. I have never been able to nail her recipe perfectly, but I get closer each time. I also love pickled beets, always have tho. I have fond memories of my mum doing a quick pickle on some canned beets. Yum. Thank you for all your wonderful dinner ideas!
I made pickled coleslaw this year based on your recommendation. I will aim to quadruple what I canned last year in this season because it is wonderful.
I tried the jello recipe you shared last week and I love it. I used apple juice for one batch and then pulp-free orange juice for another. Oh my goodness!!! They were so good. Next up......cranberry juice!
It is nice to see those old, but still useful things get used. My husband asked this past year for a metal meat grinding attachment for the KitchenAid. It was not easy to get, but I did, and we love the power it has. Ouch, I bumped my head. I do enjoy these videos.
Hi Rachel & Todd. What a way to go. The two of you organizing, what your going to eat for dinner. I get what I can find at the Super Market. Chicken, or ground beef is what I find for dinner. Thank you for sharing what you eat for dinner. God Bless you both. Take care. Maria. 😇😇😇😇😇😇😇👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😀😀😀😀😀😘😘😘😘😘😘
I love to collect old vintage Mason jars I have a few blue ones but one for a crack in it I didn’t notice when I bought it. I look out for them at vintage stores.
Check the bottom of your old blue jars for # 13. Housewives would not use the jars thinking 13 was bad luck. I was at a family reunion and was told by relatives that their mother gave the kids the jars with 13 on then to take outside to break. A few years ago they were worth $20 to $30 depending on condition.
Everybody knows I can, and will ask if I want what they found in their parents/grandparents house.. I take it all! I think I still have 5 huge boxes at my son's house (he lives in town, closer for them to drop off) that I have not even gotten or gone through yet. I have numerous old blue canning jars like the one you showed.. no idea now where they came from, I am the lady that takes them all! :) Oh, and I have to try those enchiladas! Yummy!
I'm sure that the grandma with jars had a use for those pb jars. My grandma saved mayo jars for sour kraut as they fit wide lids and didn't need to be processed.
This looks so good, going to try this, thank you so much for sharing. Blessings !!! ✝️💟 Love the jars, I have some a few blue old ones, but not like that atlas. There keepers that’s for sure. 😍
Ooooo….don’t throw out those Jif glass jars. If the canning lids fit them they are great for storing your freeze dried foods. I switched from Mylar to glass Mayo jars and it’s the best thing I’ve done. I always hated not being able to see the food in the Mylar bags. Plus there were multiple times when my food went bad in the Mylar even with an oxygen absorber. Never had that problem when storing in glass jars.
I love breakfast for dinner! I do not care for can beats that you by in the store. The beats that I like are from the farmer’s market they are sweeter. I am going to try to grow them again this year.
Dinner looked good as always guys. Its kinda cool, it feels like we are all just hanging out together LOL Im curious about the pickled slaw. We have never had that before. I think we would like it. Do you have your recipe in a video somewhere? Those pickled beets looked so good too. I love but I dont think Hubby does.
Oh, I need a good sausage recipe. My hubby was raised growing his own hogs and misses the freash pork sausage his grandpa made. I'll check out your other video, thanks!
All those meals looked delicious! I can’t wait to make our own sausage one day! Those old jars are so pretty and a great find! What fun it must be to go treasure hunting in an old house! Do you ever watch Curiosity Inc on you-tube? Alex buys houses sometimes, contents and all!
Thanks guys. I canned a bunch of turkey meatballs, got a great deal on a bunch of ground turkey. I have to make these sliders every time our family get together. Might make some tonight. My closest team, GO BENGALS, Oh well. God Bless and stay safe.
Todd, thank you so much for not putting the "pickled coleslaw" on the chicken enchiladas before eating it! Being a Latino from southwestern Arizona, I just cringed when your beautiful wife put that on. I know, I should have an open mind, but to me, it was like placing ketchup on a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Keep up the great videos guys! Cheers
It's funny because my taste have changed to not liking pickled beets, but rather just plain canned beets. I'm so making those sliders for the Daytona 500 this weekend, YUM!
I have made the Ham and Cheese sliders on the playoff game and for Super Bowl. My husband and son are just crazy about them. I used swiss and gouda but forgot the pickles… next time
(Took me forever to get through this one! Phones calls and distractions lol) Needed to add…I’m in Cincinnati… everyone here is so proud of the Bengals even if they didn’t win! A ton of people flew to LA just to be in town during the game! (They didn’t spend $6k for a ticket😂) everyone is happy even without a win!! A friend of mine wears the mascot “who Dey” suit for engagements outside the park and he was booked for 3 weeks straight! It’s been awesome
Did I hear you correctly? You take your leftover pasta with the sauce & vaume seal it then put it in the freezer? Then what do you do to reheat & does it taste any different from being frozen? Might be a great way to prep some meals for my hubby.
Yep you heard right. By vacuum sealing out all the air, it keeps it from having an off taste. Need a quick meal, I just pull one out and let it thaw on the counter a bit, then into a bowl then the microwave.

Me too! I now look for the blanket and see??
I know, so cute!
You know I had to go back and look 😂
Hilarious 😂
I saw the puppy snuggling sooo cute
I just love this you two sitting at the table eating and visiting. Its wonderful!
Oh, I wish you could film the house that your son bought!! It sounds amazing!
Dry the chipotle peppers and powder them. Adds the great smoky flavor without leftovers to use up.
I have to comment how cute your little puppy is getting under the blanket 🥰.
Your kids SCORED on the time capsule house! Congratulations to them (and you 😉). Loving your pantry meal series. We are a family of two now that the kids are gone and enjoy seeing what we can create with our food storage.
How special that you get to save the precious treasures. I wish I had the treasures my parents used to have.
Oh that would be nice to see some of the treasures from your sons new house!
Your little dog in the background so dang sweet .. bless his heart trying to get all comfy and warm .. love it

Thank you guy's 😊
Blessings to you all....🌹thanks for sharing with us !!
I canned salsa verde and green enchilada sauce for the first time last fall with the last of my green tomatoes. It makes such wonderful enchiladas!
I like your transitions with the voiceovers.
I made pickled coleslaw this year based on your recommendation. I will aim to quadruple what I canned last year in this season because it is wonderful.
We'll watch if you keep posting meals for 2!! We are not yet empty nesters because we raised a grandson.
One day we will be cooking for 2!!
Breakfast for dinner! My husband and I do it once a week. We love breakfast, but my work schedule makes it impossible for a morning meal.
Always happy to see you both♥️🙏🏼
I tried the jello recipe you shared last week and I love it. I used apple juice for one batch and then pulp-free orange juice for another. Oh my goodness!!! They were so good. Next up......cranberry juice!
Try adding a tablespoon full to warmed homemade chicken broth…soo good and easy….
It is nice to see those old, but still useful things get used. My husband asked this past year for a metal meat grinding attachment for the KitchenAid. It was not easy to get, but I did, and we love the power it has. Ouch, I bumped my head. I do enjoy these videos.
Those jars are awesome 😎
That house sounds like a true life time capsule. If the walls could talk oh my.

I love to collect old vintage Mason jars I have a few blue ones but one for a crack in it I didn’t notice when I bought it. I look out for them at vintage stores.
You guys are so awesome together ,it soothes my soul!!!
Have you tried yellow rice and a cucumber and tomato salad with your meatballs? One of my favorites. Your meatballs look perfect!
Hey that sounds good, quick and easy too! Ty 😊

Blue with a silver one peice lid, my grandmother use to use them.
Love these videos! So practical and down to earth!!! 💚
You have to put in the italian sausage some fennel seeds. Salami made with fennel seeds is the absolute best salami ever.
Puppy under the blanket 😍 so sweet
I have GOT to stop watching your videos in the middle of the night. Now I'm all hungry and I need to go to sleep. Another great video!
Love your little ones in the chair with their blankie. They catch my eye. Dinner looks good!
Love the jazzy 🎵🎶
Thank you for sharing. Really looks great. Love watching the dogs cover themselves up with blankets. They are so cute.
I love the meals and projects you two do. BUT that puppy stole the show! How cute! Managed to cover itself up. Only a nose sticking out! ADORABLE!!
Wow! This was a jam packed week of food. Everything looked amazing. That Hummus though...
Nice Super Bowl spread!
I just love watching you guys!
Thank You for sharing!
Love pickled beets. Try them on a tuna sandwich. My favorite sandwich !!
Just looked up Jiff Peanutbutter jars on E bay. You may want to research it.
Ok, best thing about this great video? Your little dog behind you burrowing in its bed under a blanket.♥️
Just recently found your channel and loving it! I’m really enjoying you guys sharing the meals you are making… thank you for sharing!

Great video! Lots of tidbits. Food looks awesome. Ps. I did the 2nd sausage recipe you did, and loved it!.
I'm sure that the grandma with jars had a use for those pb jars. My grandma saved mayo jars for sour kraut as they fit wide lids and didn't need to be processed.
I used to make chipotle and lime humus being sure to incorporate some of the adobo sauce. Yum!
U r so blessed
Ummm, well Todd...Rachel looked like you touch those Jif jars and your history yourself!!! Lol
This looks so good, going to try this, thank you so much for sharing. Blessings !!! ✝️💟 Love the jars, I have some a few blue old ones, but not like that atlas. There keepers that’s for sure. 😍

I love breakfast for dinner
Hello Rachel 👋
We like backed enchiladas a la lasagna style. No rolling. Just layer all ingredients and top with sauce
I love breakfast for dinner! I do not care for can beats that you by in the store. The beats that I like are from the farmer’s market they are sweeter. I am going to try to grow them again this year.

Oh hello Todd
Thanks for the laugh when the camera "fell" on the floor. Just got off work and needed that.
I smiled at the yellow strainer. I have the same one from my mother-in-law.
I have the same one too! Maybe its Michigan thing?!
Todd, thank you so much for not putting the "pickled coleslaw" on the chicken enchiladas before eating it! I missed your recipe for the pickled coleslaw with jalapeños Could you please share that again! Thank you!!
