6:45 Quick fun fact, Lee Jung-jae who plays Gi-hun went off script and wasn't supposed to put the straw back in Sae-byeok's drink and was only meant to pass her the cup without it. It was unexpected, so the way she had her head down was her trying to hide her laughter. :P
@@ChannelSee1 depends what genre you like, "Moving" is my personal favourite, it's one of the best series I've watched not only Korean. A lot of people say that if it was on Netflix instead of Disney+ it would've surpassed Squid game. Other recommendations - My name, Death's game, Itaewon class!!! Korean series aka Kdramas are also easy to watch as most of them are only 1 season and small amount of episodes. Thank you for replying!
@@HG-if6pc Oh yea I"ve never watched a kdrama I might have to. I'm intrigued now. Thank you for the suggestions, we will definitely consider these! - Cam
Also! Hunger games reminded me of Battle Royale, which is one of my fav Japanese movies. It came before Hunger Games and the shock factor was 😮 esp during that time. I highly recommend it!
If you see some BTS stuff, there's an actor that talks about how Gong Yoo (the salesman with the red and blue things) is really good at the game. So based off what he said, it seems like Gong Yoo was the one who actually did it. I've seen lots of koreans play this game in kvariety shows and it's actually the people you see who are trying to flip them. They aren't on strings or anything. It's pretty fun to do too, I've tried it as well haha. It gets addicting though LOL
Oh also, did you know that when Gong Yoo slapped the main guy (Gi-Hun) with the gambling problem, he actually physically slapped him. Originally he was just going to fake slapping him and just graze him a little to make it look realistic but the actor that plays Gi-Hun said the director wouldn't think it looks realistic enough and told him to actually physically slap him in real life. So that's what he did. Thus why it looks so realistic bc he's actually physically making contact with his face LMAO.
If you mean brutal in terms of gore... I guess? If you mean emotionally, not really. It's a solid 7/10 and gets besmirched by its ending. If you're younger and into anime tropes being portrayed in irl shows, you'll probably love it more.
There is a clear emotional difference in the scene where a gangster shoves a knife into Ki-hoon's nose. Koreans find this scene comical, while Westerners feel it is cruel. In Korea, regulations were severe due to the influence of Confucian culture, but only recently began to be relaxed, so in the case of dramas, there were almost no cruel scenes (in the case of Korean movies, there were many cruel scenes from 20 years ago).

that doesnt exactly explain why that would make it funny to Korean eyes, but interesting to know anyhow^^
