Has this series recast any roles at all? I think every character they’ve brought back has been played by the original actors. I also just learned today that Daniel’s son was not recast as I had originally thought.
@@CraigKostelecky As far as I can tell every actor who has appeared in one of the previous Karate Kid movies and now Cobra Kai is the same actor. Let's see: Daniel, Johnny, Kreese, Bobby, Tommy, Jimmy, Ali, Chozan, Kimiko, Yuna...I think that's all of them. And I expect we may see Terry Silver and Barnes return next season played by the same actors.
Love this episode for several reason, but the fact that Chozen went out of his way to act like a hardass just to troll Daniel, and Kumiko went along with it, is so funny to me.
I think Daniel sees the Chozen thing as different because Chozen was so completely in the wrong in the past that their making up started with Chozen wholeheartedly apologizing. Johnny has no desire to apologize because he doesn't really see himself in the wrong over their past. I think that is why Daniel feels they are different.
I 100% agree. There is a whole past of wrongs that Johnny has not apologized for. Not only that, but now their lives in the present day have been intertwined in such a complicated way, one that involves their children. But, at least in that regard, there is hope: what I mean is that in previous seasons, their kids was a source of conflict between them (Johnny not wanting Robby to be with Daniel, Johnny and Daniel not wanting Sam and Miguel to be together, etc), but now their kids are actually what is uniting them (they both want to help Robby, Daniel has seen that Miguel is a nice kid, etc -- but now we need Johnny to see that Sam is a nice girl, he has said some pretty bad things about her...)
I agree about Robby's fighting. Tanner Buchanan has a background in gymnastics so maybe that has something to do with it, but his fight choreography definitely comes across as the most natural looking. He did all his stunts in the juvie fight too, really impressive! Shawn v Robby is my favorite fight this season out of all the teen fights. I would like to see Shawn come back in season 4.
@@panjar9634 I see a lot of fans say that want to see this! I think it'll be interesting, but I don't want Shawn to be another Cobra Kai bully like Kyler. I hope he's more good-guy-in-a-bad-situation, like Robby.
Tanner pulls off his very choreographed moves well, but pulling off your own choreography (a lot of the time, not all the time) doesn’t necessarily mean it looks natural.
@@TheReelReesePod Tanner and Jacob are great! There are a few videos from real sensei saying how well they do. You can see Jacob's athleticism in how hard and quick his fighting looks and Tanner's dance/gymnast background allows his movement to look clean and when he kicks there is so much more extension than the rest of the young cast like he actually looks like he's going to kick through them. Most of the cast make it all look good but obviously Tanner and Jacob are standouts and it shows that they are putting in the work! :)
Me! I think there are a lot of cool parallels to draw to between the two universes. The chi-blocking is an obvious one. But also the bending styles can be compared to the karate styles. Cobra Kai is like fire, earth. Miyagi karate is like water, air. Daniel taking Kreese down is like Aang taking Ozai down. Robby can also be seen as a Zuko type of character. I can keep going but I'll stop there lol.
Yuna is played by the same actress who was that little girl .. and yes that was Anthony, he lost weight... If you recall the first episode of the show, Daniel *did* forgive Johnny. He was friendly towards him and told him "it's all in the past, that wasn't you, that was Cobra Kai." Johnny didn't apologize or indicate that he was sorry, but Daniel as good as told him what he told Chozen this episode: "if it means anything, I forgive you." So what changed? Where did it go wrong with Johnny? "If it means anything..."
And recall Johnny's extremely self-serving recollection of the first film's events back in Season 1, which of course got a bunch of the edgelord "Daniel is the real bully" fans to shout that they were right, the point sailing right over their heads.
In my opinion, the problem between Johnny and Daniel is that they are too much alike (stubbornness-wise) to get along easily. Daniel 'forgave' Johnny because he believed he 'won' (being a successful car dealer compared to rockbottom Johnny), causing Johnny to prove he hasn't lost (re-opening Cobra Kai), causing Daniel to sabotage Cobra Kai, causing Johnny to retaliate ... and so on and so on. Like Daniel's wife pointed out multiple times in the past, it is juvenile of BOTH of them to keep on holding onto a grudge from when you were 16 years old ... everyone is at least a little bit of a jerk at that age, with or without someone like Kreese fanning the flames. And even in season one, certain moments prove how well they would get along if they both would just forget about their issues and listen to each other.
I've never seen Karate Kid 2 or 3 (I was supposed to watch them both over the holidays but unfortunately I did not have the time), but this one episode alone has made Chozen my favorite character from everything Karate Kid related. Chozen was a mega level douche in K2, so this storyline works really well. Adds to the whole Wisdom/Maturity with Age. It's like he's a sign of what Johnny could be to Daniel.

I don't know if it's supposed to be Robby and Sam's fight were occurring at around the same time, or it's just we're seeing both at the same time, but if its the former, it makes me think of Sam and Robby still being in sync, which they learned in season 2 in the pond and what we saw at the mall. I don't blame the Miyagi-Do students at all. They didn't "start" the fight, Cobra Kai did a lot of shit already leading up to that. I agree that they should have went to the police first, or the parents, or had Cobra Kai shut down legally, but it seems like none of that stuff works where they live because the adults don't do their jobs. Miguel: *starts tapping his foot*
Me: "The power of rock n roll baby!" 🤘
First CloneWars, now Cobra Kai
This was THE BEST episode of this season. Maybe all three. 🖤💛👊🥋🤘
Reason hawk broke his arm was cause when miguel showed mercy he got paralyzes
Hawk breaking Dimitri's arm is weirdly one of my favorite scenes in the show
It’s so shocking and intense. I love it.
your disturbed for real then
I loved Eric's reaction to Amanda slapping Kreese 😂
Let me tell you from experience...Twisted Sister live IS a healing experience.
I wish Chozen had kids.
Okinawa ends with Chozen and Kumiko, once they're gone (no lineage).
So basically if Miguel didn’t show mercy he would’ve purposely broken Robby’s arm; as if that would’ve been alright.
What happened to Miguel was awful, but at least Robby didn’t intend for him to go over the banister.
Someone gets it
Also, music therapy is proven to be able to help the brain reroute tasks from a damaged area of the brain. I'm not sure if it extends down to nerves but...I could believe the music helping the brain kickstart messages to the feet (if the nerves weren't damaged).
Dee Snider cures paralysis haha
If I remember, Mike Barnes threatened to drop Daniel and the girl from the movie (I forget her name) off a cliff if Daniel refused to fight.
13:15 Your guys' reaction to Chozen was mine exactly 😎👊
What a great episode
I will always have mad respect for Dee Snider giving his middle finger to Congress and winning. He's one of the most important people in modern music.
So hype for next episode for hawk 🦅
What I got from this episode is that rock cures everything
Fun fact the actor who plays Chozen owns a Hawaiian restaurant that's like 15 minutes from my house
Best season by far
Miguel is Loyal to Johnny and Eli is Loyal to Miguel because if it wasn't for Miguel, he wouldn't have been Hawk.
Dee Snider, he's the Huevos con Aceite guy!
You guys should do a reaction of Grimm. Old but great show.
amazing show
Hey guys that's the same kid. He just had major weight loss.
11:52 that why I love Amanda!!!
I can’t wait for episode 6
This episode has to be the best
Chozen used chi blocking
10:58 Aaron talking turned on my Siri for some reason LOLOL
Hawks crossed the point of no return here
I don't blame the Miyagi-Do students at all. They didn't "start" the fight, Cobra Kai did a lot of shit already leading up to that. I agree that they should have went to the police first, or the parents, or had Cobra Kai shut down legally, but it seems like none of that stuff works where they live because the adults don't do their jobs. But if the law wouldn't stop Cobra Kai, can't blame them for not sitting back and taking that shit.
Miyagi do 100% started that fight!
