yeah in the Great Crusade it said there were MANY worlds that ALL the other legions couldn't even gain a foothold on them...but the Raven Guard conquered them with relative ease...because unlike other legions...they were the ONLY legion who specialised in guerilla warfare and lightning attacks. i mean think about it...Blood Angels and Space Wolves both cover assault...so there are two legion who do assault...Imperial Fists and Iron Warriors cover siege (although granted Fists do siege defence while warriors are more siege offence). The only legino that is REMOTLEY similar to the Raven Guard fighting style is the White Scars...but they use vehicles...not guerilla warfare and jetpacks and striking from shadows.
i have respect for all 18 legions...and i would probably respect the two lost legions as well if i knew more about them...but the Alpha Legion were about covert ops, secrecy and infiltration...not guerilla warfare and lightning attacks. the Raven Guard were ONLY chapter who had those skills and they were highly valued for them. we also have to remember the notable roles Corax and his legion played in the Great Crusade and/or Horus Heresy (where as the Alpha Legion's work was far more mysterious). i'll list a few things: the Raven Guard, as i said, managed to bring many worlds into compliance the other chapters couldn't. Corax (unlike some of his brothers) had no interest in the title of warmaster, he cared about values...not titles...and that was due to being raised by slaves...titles mean nothing when a slave manages to rise up and defeat the enslaver. Corax (along with Guilliman) was also one of the Primarchs who tried to warn the Emperor that Mortarion was only close with Horus...but the Emperor didn't listen. even after losing most of his legion and being badly injured he INSISTED on trying to help his father and the Imperium...he even managed to get a hold of the original gene-seed despite the traps and security measures around the lab. true that attempt didn't work out how he intended...but at least he tried. and lets not forget...Corax never liked Horus...am i the only one who thinks he deserves credit purely for taking a swing at that arrogant prick XD
You're almost right, you forgot about the night lords.. but the night lords are toooooo psycho.. they also are able to do lightning attacks and some guerilla warfare.. but they would add FEAR into it.. Raven Guard all the way tho'

why the hate for the Sneaky Beakies, huh? they are awesome and Corax was smart enough to only trust his only people and not the Terrans with their strange ideas, it saved the Ravenguard so much trouble. It also saved the galaxy from another traitor legion who preferred stealth, the Night Lords arr bad enough.
i know seriously, the Raven Guard are my favourite legion/ chapter...they have suffered so much shiz. my top 5 chapters are Raven Guard, Salamanders, Blood Angels, Iron Hands, Space Wolves (the three who suffered at istvaan V just deserve it by default...they went through so much). As for blood angels they are so stead fast and loyal and Sanguinius was godlike on Terra...(defended the palace gate alone from entire armies and when he KNEW he was gonna die at horus' hand he was liek "fu£$ it i'm gonig anyway...cause i know i'm right") and Space Wolves well...i won't deny Russ could be a di£$ (he sh£4 royally on Magnus n the Thousand Sons...who i also quite like to be honest) but we have to remember Russ was found SECOND...dude probably knew more about the Emperor than most...i mean it is heavily implied he was killing the Lost Primarchs...even if he wasn't he was his dads executinoer...he did the dirty work...he was sent to deal with Angron with the whole Butcher's Nails surgery...and he stood between his brothers numerous times when they fought...he was like the freakin law enforcer
During the Dropzone massacre 4 traitor legions failed to eradicate 3 loyalist legions. That was the day Horus should have known he is merely another usurper, not of higher potential.
I like Corax. Acknowledging his faults doesn't ruin him for me, it rounds out his character. I'd rather hear an honest assessment of his flaws than an inaccurate paean to his virtues.
Not sure if my predecessors would agree but I respect the Raven Guard and their tactics, for not every battle can be won by force and courage alone...rather in some cases stealth and cunning. IMO Russ could be a di£$ yes...but he had a hard duty to bear...
Pre-primarch missions. The Raven Lord purged those terran RG from the legion during the Battle of gate 42, and with it, the influence of Horus on his legion.
Thats ok, tbh if people want an un biased response then they shoulf really read up on it, i like your videos because we have very different opinions. Its nice to hear what someone else thinks
I enjoy your videos but Corax was no hypocryte and you are wrong in labelling him as such for several reasons: 1)Corax supposedly psykik powers were nearly unexistant compared to Magnus's. Like competing a sling to a nuke and then calling the slinger an hypocrite for voting against long range weapons,it is simply asinine. 2)The thousands sons were conquering planets by brainwashing the defenders with their psykik powers, the all legion+primarch. That is simply asking for trouble and Corax was right in voting against Magnus. 3)If there was an hypocryte among the loyalist primarchs that was Leman Russ, vanting his ferocity and free spirit left and right and then alwasy ready to obey the emperor's every whim. Like Kharn said that's how a dog behaves not a wolf.
I understand that - as I've said in this thread, I have my biases and I'm a big fan of Magnus on the whole whereas I'm not keen on Corax. It is worth pointing out that even before Magnus was found, Corax was anti-psyker, calling for the censure or destruction of the 15th before even becoming the Thousand Sons. There is also no evidence I know of regarding brainwashing - diplomacy and trickery yes, but the Alpha Legion were likely just as bad in that regard. I see your point about Russ, I don't like him either, but when even the non-psychic Jaghtai Khan can back Magnus despite being distant from everyone, I find it hard not to be annoyed with Corax (though maybe hypocrite is too strong a word).
I believe the Custodes were simply ordered to kill everyone - Kurthuri being spared wasn't in the script I believe unless Malcador had given instruction we didn't know about.
To be fair, a lot of the primarchs didn't have much background to them prior to the HH series. I think Corax needs some more background to him, but I've been a fan of his since Deliverance Lost.
I honestly don't mind Corax, but he is one of my least favourites for reasons explained in another video. Maybe some more lore wold change that, but my research for this didn't indicate it.
Yeah, watching this brought to mind that video you'd done about that. I hope they give him some more exposure in future books (Alpharius and Khan too). I just think he cops a bit of unfair flak when he doesn't have all that much to go on.
Inquisitor Thomas: hey speak only for yourself buddy, no for other people...Corax is my favourite Primarch...or favourite of the loyalists anyway...my favourite traitor was probably Mortarion...the dude who was like "i'm not sure if i should betray my father...i hate what he did to me...but i don't have the man power to oppose him...but then he just said "screw it" and joined Horus XD"
And do you know anything about the crave? It's rumored that the Crave is one of the reasons why one of the Lost primarks in their entire Legion is gone because they destroyed an entire Legion and a Primark the Dark Angels and the Raven guard are the only Marines to face them and actually survive the Dark Angels took a lot of losses and they were actually doing a lot more whooping on them but then again the Dark Angels have so much heretical Weaponry from the Dark Age of technology that of course they did and they're all so the biggest Legion it's surprising that the ravengard was even able to stand up with their big scary tearing guns but they did I'm noting a lot of I don't know man you're just not really given the love to our chapter I'm sensing a lot of heretical speech I think I'm going to have to write the Inquisition about you as a matter of fact yeah we're going to have a brother captain or two show up and have a little chat with you you may keep your hands but I doubt it vox transmission cut
Must be a bleak situation, when even I get dragged back into #WH40K. Well, part of the Raven Guard, could be worse... `I wanna play a psychic with basic stealth killer training, not just another dumb soldier.´ But, how smart can one be, joining such battles..? *shudder*
Just an update on what we were doing while the war was going on Tara we were on a whole other world a Forge World mind you where the word bearers and members Magus Magus of the dark mechanicum were actually making Soul Forge demons it was the first demon crossovers that is what was being produced there like you know those big freaking demons with the spider legs and the upper torsos or the things with wings that look like dragons and tongues but they have a bunch of machine guns on them? Yeah they were building those things there and we went there and we literally had a fight of cities because these cities on this world were the forge manufactorums are, we're hover cities that hovered above an ocean of freaking acid not the trippy kind the oh my God I'm burning kind! Anyway all out War corex crashed a f****** City into another city void Shields of blazing! It was Insanity there was scattery there were freaking war hound Titans there was just s**** and giggles everywhere! And when it was all said and done a s*** ton of word bearers had been put down a whole entire mag guy and all of his skitari plus all of their resources were killed resources captured from the dark mechanicum an entire Forge World was cut off from Horace and my Lord they got a bunch of information from a navigator of a ship who had pointed them to this Forge World in the first place. This whole mission was ridiculous! You could read about it in the book corex it's in the scouring series my lord! Just so good! It's one that I listened to when I was sleeping at night and when I woke up in the morning I had to literally go back and start it from where I hit play the night before because I didn't want to miss a damn thing and there was no pictures or anything! LOL but I still just wanted to like be more immersed. So if you understand what I'm saying good if you don't I'm sorry that you don't but that's what happens and that's what was going on!! That is my vim and vigor have a good night!.
Don't think you gave Raven guard enough credit. Probably the most under appreciated legion/chapter in 40k.

But what about MURDERWINGS!?
So let me get this straight, Letting Corax settle a planet is fine. But he kidnapped Angron. Getting real sick of your shit Emperor.

So are the raven guard considered space goths or what?
