If you want some history around the tradition of drinking around the world, it wasn't started by the patrons, it was started by animators and imagineers and became popular when the 3d department started to have problem, with 3d coming in. I was lucky enough to become friends with many of those original group when i first worked for the mouse as an actor, most of them are gruff old turds now, but they were pretty fun. One of them even went out of their to help me learn to draw. I'm a smaller person, so i never made it very far, usually i just got one of those hollowed out pineapple drinks and slowly nursed that. I'm a "girl drink" drunk.
This Gives Me An Idea For Cocktails Named After Legendary Locations In Video Games. Examples: (Elder Scrolls) The White-Gold Tower, (Mass Effect) Hades Gamma, (Fable 2) The Golden Oak of Oakvale, (World of Warcraft) Icecrown Citadel, ect.

Walts original vision didn't get of the ground before he passed, and everything after was totally different. His original vision was an actual planned community where people would like.
The swimming pool note isn't the cocktail, it's the ice! Disney doesn't filter their water, even for fancy cocktails at fancy bars. All the ice is made with good ol' Florida Tap Water, which is approximately 50% chlorine. PS: The move in the UK is the Pimms Cup.
It's central florida water..... south florida water is less sulfery because we get our water from a different aquapher that's why the central florida water is also yellowish

The thing to realize about Baijiu is that the one that's been featured on this show before - Kinmen Kaoling - is not exactly the nice stuff. It is drank in Taiwan as a sort of rite-of-passage thing. Like drinking Everclear at a frat party. It is also the cheapest alcohol/price ratio you can get in Taiwan. There's plenty of baijiu that taste way nicer. There might also be some that taste worse.
I feel like that's what 'shochu' is in Japan. You can find gallons/liters of the stuff...I'm talking a massive plastic container of pure alcohol, for about 10-15 USD. It's basically jet fuel though and it's what they use for 90% of cocktails here (with the exception of higher class bars). Japanese cocktails are generally disappointing though as most are simply a little syrup, a little shochu, and a lot of tonic/soda water. Easy to drink but very unimpressive.
I definitely want to see some of these remade in the HtD bar. The Ichigo Breeze, Dragon Dynasty, Corn Old Fashioned, and Morrocan Mule would be especially interesting to try to figure out the specs of.

Some other crawl suggestions: I tried every drink on our Alaska Cruise (Norwegian Free At Sea with included drinks package), Drinking around Oahu's Chinatown district (some cool bars there), Drinks in Osaka food district (Japanese are known for their fancy presentations), etc.
Growing up in central florida, this is how I spent my 21st birthday, honestly never really snuck drinks growing up so it really was a lot of fun trying a bunch of stuff with my family for the first time. Started with a snakebite because I had never had beer and figured it'd be better to start mixed with cider, and ended with a tamarind margarita, which I highly recommend, absolutely delicious.
If you're looking for more juniper beers outside of Epcot, you want to look for the traditional Scandinavian styles Gotlandsdricka or Sahti. They're uncommon in the States, but some brave craft brewers will make them. They shouldn't be hoppy as the traditional recipes wouldn't include hops and simply use juniper sprigs or berries and other foraged herbs.
Is that fairly similar to Scottish style ales that are brewed with no hops and just herbs? It would kinda make sense since Vikings were conquering and sharing cultures there a ways back
@@adamwhite2364 Not particularly. The ancient Scandinavian styles are going to be closer to funkier farmhouse ales and lower in ABV, while the Scottish ales are closer to strong ales. The scots wouldn't include juniper, and the use of peat in both the germination and brewing processes would add a smokey flavor. The same notes you find in scotch whisky. Although both are lower in hop content and character because the climates were bad for growing hops
@@erzsebetkovacs2527 It's definitely an ancient style that's more seen as a gimmick or historical brew nowadays. But there are still those who brew them.
I was there last week! Sadly, it was 93 degrees and my feet were hurting from walking around so much in other parks, so I didn't feel like drinking a lot. Ended up getting the Lucky Peach from China, Black Magic from Mexico and Bluberry Vodka Peach Cobbler Freeze from the Honey Beestro. I enjoyed all 3.
Loved this one. I can't imagine there's a feasible way to do this kind of video with much frequency, but it's still very fun, especially when you find a drink that's legitimately good like the corn old fashioned.
Pimm's No 1 Cup is Pimm's and..SPRITE?! Now that's an afront to the genuinly lovely summer drink!! It should of course be made with real lemonade, strawberries, orange, cucumber and mint leaves. Add Pimm's (and if you want it a bit more "grown up" some gin of your choice) fill the pitcher with lots of ice, stir and start quaffing!
@@Default78334 Yeah I'm from the UK and I've only ever had Pimm's with the fizzy kind of lemonade. Putting a brand name in there makes it sound tacky but the US doesn't have a generic term so the options are limited. Also iirc Sprite is specifically lemon and lime; a lot of generic British lemonade is *just* Vaguely Lemon Flavoured. No lime. (My go-to drink is Amaretto and lemonade, and a lot of branded lemonades are just *too* lemon-forward for it to work properly. Sometimes you *need* the cheap non-branded supermarket stuff.)
If it helps, sprite basically *is* the generic term for clear citrus soft drink in the US. There are subtle differences between the big brands but not so much most people really mind if the restaurant or your friend has a brand you don't normally get, it's all sprite
4:00 I have had swimming pool vibes from drinks that are dispensed from a slushie machine, if that is the case here, because they clean it with a bleach water solution, and sometimes the essence of that sticks around in the drink. I had to return a frozen margarita a few times because of this issue.
One of my fave "Japanese cocktails" is very simple and served at U-Yee sushi in Woodbridge NJ called the Katana. Half gin, half Choya Umeshu, lil lime edge squeeze - amazing.
For more of that apple-rosemary combo, try "Applaus mit Apfel", apple juice with the rosemary-forward "Applaus" gin from around Stuttgart, stirred with a sprig of rosemary.
Just came back from a Disney cruise with the family and all the daily cocktails were very sweet, fruit juice forward and could barely taste any alcohol.
A recommendation for a Norwegian cocktail is one I had many years ago in Oslo called a Fjellbekk (I think that is the spelling!) 1 part Aquavit 1 part Vodka 1 part lime Sprite to top. Served over ice. To my memory it was made in the glass, but shaking would certainly chill through the spirits a little more and I personally go a little lighter on the lime.
In Norway the popular cocktail is the Viking Coffee, essentially like an Irish coffee with cocoa pebbles on top. It is also served without alcohol. Also, if you do another of these make sure you stop by the Odyssey pavilion. They usually have interesting cocktails to compliment the current festivals along with lots of food offerings and it isn't far from World Showcase for a drink around the world trip. I'd love to do a fan meetup or something next time you decide to do EPCOT! I've watched a ton of your videos over the years. Going during the Food and Wine Festival is probably the best bang for the buck since they have about double the selections of each.
You should try to make a Finnish long drink sometime. We've been buying it as a RTE for decades but it's easy to make at home. All you need is gin and grapefruit (not grape, grapeFRUIT) soda.
Yes! I’m from the states and visited Vancouver with a few friends a few years ago (first and so far only visit to Canada) and the double caesar was our go-to cocktail the whole trip. I know it’s basically a modified bloody mary but describing it as such in my opinion does it a huge disservice. They’re so good! Even my buddy’s gf who apparently hates bloody marys was ordering them towards the end of the vacation. I dont quite remember what the weird yellow salt rim was but it was delicious.
It's usually celery salt, though there are variations. Ingredients are vodka, clamato juice, Tabasco, a dash of Worcestershire, rimmed with celery salt and stirred with a celery stick that's left in the glass.
@@maih600 Oh ok I had to text my buddy since it was bugging me but the reason I was confused was because this video game bar we went to used what they called “chicken salt” which I imagine was like chicken bouillon but it had a hint of lemon-pepper in it also. Don’t know if it was their own recipe or if it was a product they purchased like Tajín but it was so good 😙👌
Apfelschaumwein is just ... Prosecco made from Apple Wine. It's not a cocktail and you usually (if you do) buy it from the bottom of all shelves at a discounter market. Very cheap stuff. They should have put a simple Gin Tonic with some mint leaves there, that's something we're used to drink as a "summer long drink" here in Germany. Perhaps something more fancy ... a "hugo spritz", elderflower, prosecco, mint leaves and if you like some sour lemonade added. That's German summer cocktail vibe Epcot!
Canadian here! Have you ever tried Sortilege and cranberry juice? It's delicious, but not much of a cocktail I guess! Sortilege is great for everything though. We also have our own canadian made amaretto called Avril which is delicious!

I know what the show is, but as someone that only made it like halfway last time I tried to drink around the world, you need those beers in there every so often so you don't get pushed out of the park splayed in a stroller
Norwegian here. Odd that they didn't have an aquavit based drink at the Norway pavilion. Fjellbekk is a classic (aquavit, vodka, orange liqueur, sugar and lemon soda).
HI, Norwegian here. Can confirm that Troll Krem has little to nothing to do with Norway beyond the name. Stick with the beer or grab a good mead. Subscribed to the channel recently, thank you for many a year of excellent advice and cocktail suggestions!
Trollkrem is actually a soft meringue with crushed lingonberries (a cousin of the cranberry, I think) and eaten with a spoon, but I guess it its expensive to mass produce.
Damn it…We were probably there at the same time. If I had seen HTD Greg in the flesh, I would have been embarrassingly excited as I mumbled something about a picture together.
Always love the content Greg! This is a great idea, and if you ever are looking for new episode Ideas, have you considered liquor infusions? You’ve done spiced rum, homemade gin, and a few others, but I think that’d be a great idea to expand the home bar

Given your comments on the Moroccan Mint Ice Tea, I'd be very interested to see you create drinks inspired by the nations at EPCOT that *aren't* the ones on sale! Like, dredging up cocktail histories and cocktail culture in these places. It could be a really interesting video! =]
It seems like this has changed because I always recalled the drinking around the world to be that you had to get essentially the signature drink of the country. When I did mine that's how I did it which unfortunately meant getting a full liter of bier in Germany. Thankfully I was able to offset that volume with shots where I could like in Mexico. But this was a do it once and never again thing for me. 91 minutes and 26 seconds from start to finish, I'll never break that record

In the british pub you should've gone for the Pimms cup, at least that's a truly british cocktail...
That should be the old, medieval style beer. Never knew that they're still brewing it like that in Norway.
Finally someone who actually analyzes each drink beyond sweet = good.
Loved this one. I can't imagine there's a feasible way to do this kind of video with much frequency, but it's still very fun, especially when you find a drink that's legitimately good like the corn old fashioned.
3:53 the orange is my favorite and the ice cream with Gran Marnier is good
Pimm's No 1 Cup is Pimm's and..SPRITE?!
Eh, in the UK "lemonade" means Sprite or other lemon-lime soda.
You do the ads so well, I never even thought of skipping one. Although I live in Europe and can‘t even get any of these products over here.
Half gin, half Choya Umeshu, lil lime edge squeeze - amazing.
gin and umeshu sounds like an awesome combination that I will have to try next time I pick some up!
To think, if the parks stayed bone dry as Walt intended we wouldn't get this wonderful content.
For more of that apple-rosemary combo, try "Applaus mit Apfel", apple juice with the rosemary-forward "Applaus" gin from around Stuttgart, stirred with a sprig of rosemary.
The strongbow/Fireball sounds like it'd be basically a baked apple. Hitting a lot of notes I really like.
that corn old fashioned sounds FANTASTIC
Great to know, also love the dude who waved at the beginning of France!
Just came back from a Disney cruise with the family and all the daily cocktails were very sweet, fruit juice forward and could barely taste any alcohol.
A recommendation for a Norwegian cocktail is one I had many years ago in Oslo called a Fjellbekk (I think that is the spelling!)
1 part Aquavit
1 part Vodka
1 part lime
Sprite to top.
Served over ice.
To my memory it was made in the glass, but shaking would certainly chill through the spirits a little more and I personally go a little lighter on the lime.
I really enjoyed the Moroccan mule when I was there last year. I'm glad you liked it, too
This is the video I've always wanted.
Thank you and enjoy writing this trip off on your taxes 😂
Hey, don’t mind if I do! Those travel vloggers have got it figured out, right?
The black current half and half is delightful. And unique enough for me!
I'm from the UK and can't say I've heard of any of those drinks they served. You should have gone for the Pimm's option mate :)
You can also go to La Hacenda in Mexico and get the Margarita trio (pick three different ones). Always have to get a Margarita at LaCava
You should try to make a Finnish long drink sometime. We've been buying it as a RTE for decades but it's easy to make at home. All you need is gin and grapefruit (not grape, grapeFRUIT) soda.
The fact that Canada didnt have the Caesar is a travesty. Its just about the only uniquely Canadian coctail I know.
Exactly! Never even heard of the two he got.
20 years ago Morocco had a crazy cocktail, it was $6 and about 6oz of liquor with a splash of juice.
By the way the bestbcaptain and coke is actually with a squeeze of lime juice and an cap full of angi bitters. It transformed the drink phenomenally
Canadian here! Have you ever tried Sortilege and cranberry juice? It's delicious, but not much of a cocktail I guess! Sortilege is great for everything though. We also have our own canadian made amaretto called Avril which is delicious!
I went to Epcot in 1983. The park had just opened. There were only a few pavilions open.
There's a local brewery that makes a beer with a 6 foot Douglas Fir in the brew kettle. It's AWESOME.
Next time you go to disney world, in recommend doing the Monorail bar crawl to all the premium resort lounges. Cocktails are amazing at Grande Floridian Enchanted Rose
My wife and I just got the Moroccan Mule and loved it. Maybe it’s more refreshing with the ice and carbonation. We got a second round half hour later! Thanks!
Would love to see an episode where you make a drink that you think would better represent all the nations that are part of drinking around Epcot.
le fin du mond brought back some blurry memories of college drinking that 9% beer
If you really want a quintessential Canadian cocktail it's gotta be the ceasar
You should go on Bon Appetit with Sommelier Andrae to do wine tasting on his show!
Ok! Got their agents number?
Been binging your videos the last couple of days (now I am commenting on a random one, I guess haha), but I just wanted to say that I love the channel, and I think the work you're doing is interesting, funny, and thoughtful. Probably won't see this, but I just thought I would say thank you.
I see it! I see it all! Thank you!
I noticed this too. Almost ALL drinks are just candy stores. The clean and refreshing is lost and everything is like a variation on a margarita.
You inspired me Greg. I bought all the ingredients for the corn old fashioned and made some educated guesses with the ratios. Interested to see what you come up with when you recreate, but it was exceptional. Salut!
I'm so glad you did this, particularly since you dropped that Beverly/Club Cool reference on one of your videos. You sir are a gentleman, a scholar and a G.
25:11 to me the Avacado Margarita from Epcot is good but to me feels like a milkshake vs a cocktail. The Corn Old Fashioned is fantastic.
Sitting at the Rose and Crown after a full day around the world. As someone with very similar tastes in drinks this was invaluable and for someone with a sister who only likes overly sweet drinks, this was also invaluable
You should have had the Pimm's At the British pavilion. Old Speckled Hen is pretty good beer.
Would like to see you recreate the corn old fashioned and the non alcoholic drink (but with alcohol) on a future episode.
Seeing an Irish themed drink in the UK park really setting me off. Excellent video though, thanks Greg!
I know what the show is, but as someone that only made it like halfway last time I tried to drink around the world, you need those beers in there every so often so you don't get pushed out of the park splayed in a stroller
Looks like a fun trip! Welcome to Canada friend.
Subscribed to the channel recently, thank you for many a year of excellent advice and cocktail suggestions!
you should have tried a snake bit which is beer cider and blackcurrant juice in the gb pavillion.
That Moroccan Mule has Figenza in it, which is a wonderful bottle to have in your bar to make some unique drinks.
Trollkrem is actually a soft meringue with crushed lingonberries (a cousin of the cranberry, I think) and eaten with a spoon, but I guess it its expensive to mass produce.
When I was there during food and wine the best drink I had was the clasica Reyes margarita. Don't know if they still have it.
I love this content, I totally support you continuing Disneyland/Disney world content 🎉😂❤ please do spiked dole whips of animal kingdom!! That was my favorite to get at Disney world when I went! They have so many there different flavors. If you like dole whip..that is🤔
Norwegian here, Trollkrem is a popular dessert for kids, without alcohol of course! 😅 Never heard of it with alcohol before now.
Au revoir / Salut / Adieu are ways to say bye in french :) 6:10
Would love to see a follow-up episode where you try to improve a lot of the drinks that missed the mark.
Congratulations, you have done the impossible. I had to rewatch the advertisement because your somnambulant soliloquy was V for vendetta’s “Voila!” monologue level good. They need to pay you double for this sponsorship.
Also, I guess you were talking about drinks in Disney world? Those were cool too. 😁
Next time in Epcot Japan there’s a bar inside the restaurant upstairs. Definitely a must do
You don’t have to eat at the restaurant there is just a stand alone bar up there
Given your comments on the Moroccan Mint Ice Tea, I'd be very interested to see you create drinks inspired by the nations at EPCOT that *aren't* the ones on sale!
