I mean, the bastard that forced you to do this trial twice turns out to be a bad boss wanting to replace the four heroes with its dark copies.
Key Notes:
- Each of the shadow versions have 100 HP, though all of Dark Bowser's attacks, Dark Mario's hammer, and Dark Luigi's super jump deal twenty damage. Dark Peach is only more defensive and likes to screw you up with your timing using her parasol.
- You're used to fighting Bowser and Luigi, but Mario and Peach can throw you off still. Best thing to do here is to have high-recovery items and find openings to their attacks.
- After defeating them, obtaining the respective character's card will double their power, but Mario also gets an infinite bar whenever he switches to 3D mode.

For anyone complaining about the rewards. The character cards give you double damage to every enemy.
Fairly pointless when you have already completed the biggest challenge in the game. I guess the real disappointment is the boss itself, though. A really cool boss fight would have been the best reward.

Shadoo's origins should had been fully explored to be more rewarding, heavily implied to be the Pixl Queen.

I’ve always thought Shadoo was the “Queen Pixel” referenced in the game.

Here is a tip: stock up on Block Blocks. They nullify all damage for up to 20 seconds. More than enough time to dish out high amounts of damage.

Juhani Aho Then stack up on Mighty Tonics and Bone-In-Cuts to use on Bowser, switch to Thudley, cream everything in your path thanks to Bowser being OP, then go online and complain that the game is too easy.

Heres another tip: Emergency Rations Heal 50 HP ( ONLY in the Pit of 100 Trails!)
@@mikehunt3962 depends each person is different. if you play wreckless without thinking in the Pit of 100 trails then it’s obvious it’s going to be hard and ur gunna get hit a lot
You can just make out the scarf on dark Luigi, making it obvious the developers actually used the "Mr. L" version of Luigi here....the fact the battle is more or less identical to that in Chapter 4-4, I guess the developers found it easier to just make a dark version of Mr. L from that battle rather than using Luigi as he appears normally.

I mean, its definitely easier to make a black recolor than to make an entire different sprite sheet to save on some space
No lie, I just beat this boss with 5 HP remaining and wasted all of my healing items. The block block didn't help at all because even if you jump on him, he is still pushed away. I got extremely lucky. And I felt like I was on top of the world and was so proud of myself.
Well, to be fair, you were riding a dragon high up in the air.
@@AuraChannelerChris Good one... I swear, I was a pixel away from his hammer, and if a crowd were watching, I would get the applause of a lifetime. I've done pretty much everything in the game now. All I need to do is make the rest of the recipes (Not bothering) and get all the catch cards (186 out of 256 as of now.) I've played almost 45 hours, and I believe this is the very first time i've beaten Shadoo since I first played the game in 2012. P.S., this is literally the "Inner Agent 3" of Paper Mario, (I'm a massive Splatoon fan) but a million times more hellish as you you have to do the labyrinth all over again if you mess up.
P.P.S., My current time rn on my best file is 43 hours, 41 minutes. And I didn't use Peach at all during that entire run in the Flopside Pit part 2
I beat shadoo myself not too long ago. The prize was so worth it.
And here's the thing: i didn't have any healing items and I was low on health, but bowser's fire breath came in handy. My reaction was basically this: no freaking way I just did that

Flipside wasn't so bad. I fought and fought, got to Wracktail and trounced him. That only took one sitting and one try for me.
Flopside nearly made me rip my hair off my head. Especially since not only did I die several times before I finally got to the end of the pit, but I found out I had to do it all over... _again._ At least I beat Shadoo since I had been so full of rage when I got to him. But the reward wasn't really worth it...not after I *beat the game,* before getting to the pit in the first place.
Bonzai-Tronne flipside is extremely easy but this one is horrible. Especially since you have to beat it twice in a row to get the rewards

@@spiritbaki108 I’m not so mad about the reward, but the fact that you have to go through Flopside _twice_ to get it. Had it been one and done, it’d be fine but I have no idea what Nintendo was thinking making players go through the same 100 levels two times to actually get to the boss. It was a cheap move on their part IMO.
@Dimensio I beat wracktail 3 days ago with 1hp left (started with 11, got hit once) If you have luigi, use him to jump on him repeatedly. If you dont have him yet, beat normally the first phase and when wracktail starts doing the swirl thing, go to the highest point and do the same thing with luigi but with peach; glide to the antenna for the 2nd and 3rd phases
Also keep your distance with the wrackbots (or whatever they are called)

I did this right after I got Cudge in Chapter 5-2, the earliest you can do
So I got to the end of the flopside pit and while opening the rewards chests, my game crashed

Anyways, don't stand between two chests as bowser, your hitbox is big enough to open both simultaneously which causes the crash. My wii was also like 15 years old so there's that too.

heres a trick for the pit: if u r over carrie with bowser u can breath fire in the air :)

Ironically Carrie is my main method of defeating the main bowser in 8-2. Now 3-1? I just use boomer because he's the only pixl who can deal damage at the time

I've beaten that one. It's well worth it. Now if you do want a challenge try the duel of 100, or the tournament in sammer's kingdom, after the you beat the game, now that's a challenge

Here’s what you can do for fun: Use the character that shadoo is assuming the form of. If he’s Dark Luigi, use luigi, if he’s dark bowser, use bowser, if he’s dark peach, use peach, and if he’s dark Mario, use Mario.
I did that and it was really hard

With the exception of Dark Peach, Shadoo was pretty easy.
I can understand dark peach was hard. Especially that umbrella shield
So Mario’s card eternalizes his 3d-Flip abilities… but what do the others do?

Easy way to do this, like chugga be bowser and just breathe out fire
+Brayan and Natasha Which also risks being wide open, since Bowser has a wider hitbox and can become overwhelmed just as much.

They basically made a Mario Action RPG....and kept all the actions as simple as can be... idk what they were thinking... Movement should be important in a Mario Action RPG.
Because this is meant to be a Mario Bros. game with RPG elements.
Yeah I know but even the mario bros. recent games like wonder for example have better movement that could make for better combat too. They could have thought of how to evolve it to accomodate RPG elements better. Novel concept that could be revisited but idk if they ever will.

Manored Bowser isn’t really the villain in this one though. He’s kind of the “Anti-Hero”

Manored True, however I am more speaking in the context of this game in isolation rather than looking at it within the Mario franchise. As Bowser acts very differently in SPM than he does in other Mario games.

I went to level 42 before facing this guy. To be safe. And had ONE EMERGENCY RATION LEFT.
i wish you could see what shadoo actually looks like and i think shadoo could of had a unique battle theme for being the hardest boss in the game

I've beaten the Flopside Pit dozens of times (it's true, it's not even a hyperbole) just to get a quick EXP level up. It's just the same opened black chests at the bottom of the pit.

IPat I noticed that after I did it but after I beat the game, I went back to card collect and it stopped giving me the infinite 3d. No idea why
But that really isn't a reasonable reward considering that the bar should've been infinite to begin with. It's like Mario getting the ability to Jump higher when he should be able too. There's no reason the bare shouldn't be infinite. So it's kinda an oversight and a poor design on the developer's part. I think losing HP while going into 3D was a poor design decision as well.

No it wouldn't. There's no gamebreaking element you could do just by going into 3D. Its just a character exclusive gimmick. It wouldn't break the game at all, the game is already really easy so the difficulty factor wouldn't mean anything. Taking damage from it is so arbitrary.
Best this on my 4th try before realizing that the rewards make the game too easy lol, I do like have infinite flip time tho
