vs. Prince Mush (Double Pain, x2 Unsimplifier, BP Only) - Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door

- This fight is absolutely insane, I did not expect the devs to actually make the fight difficult and interesting. I always thought that if they were to make optional superbosses, they would just make them HP sponges with a lot of damage but they absolutely blew my expectations. Prince Mush's theme is also top 5 in the entire game too. Overall, just badass and I'd like to say I got lucky this fight, I am in disbelief that I beat him with all the conditions I placed and going in blind not knowing what to expect. Enjoy :]

I should've probably mentioned this in the video but I avoided Spoilers for the secret superbosses. I didn't want to go in already knowing what to do against Mush, I actually wanted to have a challenge. This is noticeable in the fight with me trying to figure out what works and what doesn't, this was actually my very first attempt too. Like I said in the description, I am very impressed at how Intelligent Systems designed this fight, it gives me hope for the future of Paper Mario after this remake.
Yea i get it some people don't like spoilers i'm one of them who welcomes them most times especially if i want to know something i don't care if i get spoiled about it imo, and yea me too i wonder what they're gonna do next with the series.
I wish people didn’t spoil this game before it came out but I totally agree with you. I rather find out myself.
@@Konan_Lightning It just depends on the person i get wanting to find out yourself it makes it more thrilling and exciting to not know what the boss will do next so i get it, it just depends for me i don't mind finding out stuff myself but if i want to know something and they're keeping me from knowing it its way more frustrating to not know than to know it just depends on the person and circumstances.
@@Kurumithespiritnightmare I just don’t like they have to spoil this game before it comes out. Literally couldn’t they just wait a day after or a week I so i don’t see images of what’s yet to come?
@@Konan_Lightning Yea i get it some people want it to be a suprise so i get it, i wanted to know what the bosses were in the game so i didn't mind knowing it but i can see where you're coming from though.
His jumping stance lets him evade ground attacks. His side moving stance lets him evade jump attacks. His ultimate stance brings his defense to infinity, meaning only pierce attacks can damage him. Superguard to break his stance and bring his defense to 0 for 1 turn.
Edit: not even pierce attacks damage him in his ultimate stance. Superguard is your only means of being able to damage him. If you need to, get and equip some simplifier badges. They’ll make it easier to time your superguard right against him, but you’ll get less star power when attacking or appealing.
Not even pierce attacks, as far as I could tell. Ms Mowz's piercing attack did nothing, specials did nothing, he's just completely invincible until you superguard his attack.
This comment was genuinely more helpful than a whole ass article I read thank you bro 🙏
The first thing I tried was Mowz's piercing slap to get past that 6 defense. It bounced right off of the SSJ phase. You _have_ to Superguard against SSJ, or you're not doing jack.
@@RaceBandit if that’s true, then he could totally beat Bowser, though if Bowser had the star rod, then they’d be locked in a stalemate as neither of them would be able to damage each other.
Zap Tap and Return Postage don’t work either. Once he’s in phase 2 you MUST supergaurd to do damage at all
Tip for anyone fighting him: he's not affected by _any_ kind of status effects, so dont rely on things like stop, shrink, sleep, etc.
It’s true I’ve already won tho-
It was hard tbh
Yeah I figured that out the first time when I used sleepy stomp on him didn't go well eventually I found out you could charge multibounce to do alot of damage so I did that and eventually won
The +5 defense power lift was kinda wild.
I didn’t even know +5 was possible I thought +4 was the max
If you get +4 to both attack and defense, the power lift ends. If you get it for one or the other, it stops spawning in new up arrows for that stat and starts only spawning in arrows for the other. However, if you get to +4 in a stat and there are still arrows for it already there, you can get them, so for this to happen, you have to get to +4 in a stat while there are still 4 or more arrows in that stat already on screen. It’s pretty rare, but not impossible.
@@Nintenguin5’s the max both in the original and the remake, but I’ve personally never made it to 5, most I made it to was 4 attack and 4 defense
I enjoy that you went in blind. I don’t like when people already know what to do, so I kinda like to see it fresh from the start. I’d probably end up dying if I faced him without knowing what to do. Good job!
I appreciate that, thanks :]
You must have felt so hype when you got that super guard and it all came together! I love seeing that "OMG" moment when people first figure it out. Nice job!
Nice! I also beat him with Double Pain and only BP, but I didn't have any HP Pluses, so I had just 10 HP for Mario! Basically had to treat every hit as a deadly one. 😅Koops' Shell Shield and Flurrie's Dodgy Fog helped a lot though!
Yeah lmao, Shell Shield is broken apparently for this fight. It can tank all of Mush's multi hit attacks if he attacks Mario. I will probably do a harder challenge in the future when it comes to this fight - like no Crystal Stars, Shell Shield or Danger strats. Good job defeating him :]
I remember the first time I fought him (I went in blind), all the gimmicks piled on and drove me insane.
- His side-to-side stance counters aerial/jump attacks. His jump stance counters strike/hammer attacks.
- Once his health is below half, he enters phase 2 with perfect guard
- He has immunity to all status ailments. This includes Vivian’s extra fire damage and ALL OF BOBBERY’S ATTACKS.
- His perfect guard makes his defense infinite, so much so that not even pierce attacks (which I initially tried to rely on) would work
- In Phase 2, he has a special attack which can deal 25, then 24, then 23, then 22 damage. That can nearly kill every single boss in the game, including himself! This move is basically a required superguard.
- Superguarding his attacks makes him vulnerable, dropping his defense to 0 and forcing him to not dodge.
I used all these gimmicks to essentially make a Yoshi Mega Rush build which involves power lifting him at the beginning, super guarding mush for a defense down, and stampeding the fuck out of Mush. It’s hard, but once you win you feel like a king.
I did a similar thing for my Yoshi, but without the badges and instead used Charge on him for the entire duration of the fight, whilst doing Power Lift.
i didn't even know he could make reminiscente image of himself how fucking fast this toad is....
He might have taken a few lessons with Naruto
You aproached on his terms. Well fought!
I went ahead and uploaded my fight against Bonetail with Double Pain and 2x Unsimplifier with no life Shrooms as well :] If you guys want to see specific challenge runs, let me know. Thanks for the support.

imagine super-guarding him - at all
well played
I did it three times in a row
I mean its kinda necessary to superguard him to win
@@KyleRosenthal-pf7gu i know. that was in relation to my own lack of skill. i wasn't sarcastic when i said this
@@somerobloxdude3699 exactly my point. i wasn't sarcastic when i said this. simply a reflection to my own lack of skill
I remembered he hit me twice and on the third attack of his combo I superguarded him, he definitely killed me with one of the combos though, thankfully I had a Life Shroom 🥲
Tbh I'd just use a bunch of Power Jumps and Piercing Blows for this and hope for my superguard timing to be good but Great job on trying your best for Prince Mush
HUH? I never saw the stance at the 15:22 mark.
How the heck does Prince Mush punching Koops knock him down
He’s got that chain chomp in him that’s how 0-0
Amazing video
初見で挑み、HP残り1。まともなアイテムほぼ無し。緊急キノコ無し。スーパーガードを決めてギリギリの逆転勝ちが出来た辛勝という、ペーパーマリオの隠しボスを舐めるなという教訓を得た
I equipped 2 charge badges and had koops use shell shield and i had flurrie out to play defense and charged up for 4 to 5 turns 2 charge badges give you +3 and ontop of charging up 4 to 5 times i also got a 4+ power life for insurance i basically did danger mario levels of damage at the expense of koops and flurrie oh and to ensure I'd win even more i got a supergaurd off to bring his defense to 0 so i can hit him with anything making the match very short
chat this might be the definition of insanity GGs though
Why did you keep using fire drive after it didnt work the first time?
I hear that you can beat him with less trouble if you can perform many super guards due to his high attack
yeah if you can superguard his attacks, his defense drops to 0
Where do I fight him? Do I have to beat the game first?
Jolene's Trouble in help wanted + Complete some chapters and wait some time for an email from Jolene and then Mush
I think it's as early as after Chapter 4? I had Ms Mowz for it, I remember that much.
Why are you changing between partners so often?
5 star points is crazy 😂
that is so impressive, way more than those cheaters bumping x99 power rush
Thank you! :D
Do Triple Unsimp. And Triple Pain
Try 3 unsimplifiers
I kinda wish he had more hp for his second phase or that his defense didn't fall to 0 when superguarded, the fact it takes a single superguard to beat the second phase is a bit underwhelming
>No superguards even the first thing bella says on the tattle is that you need to rely on them
>Uses power bounce and bounce related attacks when Mush is on the stance to dodge those and repeat
>Unsimplifier
>Fire Drive
Theres a lot of wrong things on this video and yet this guy beated him, what the hell
I mentioned this in the description but it was a Blind Run. A lot of people go in already knowing what to do but I avoided spoilers just for the sake of having a challenge so most of the mistakes I made was simply because I was experimenting/didn't know.
I wouldn't call Unsimplifier a wrong thing. If you can keep up with the timing window, you get more SP, which means you can keep Power Lift up.
I may have to use it myself actually. Might've helped when I fought Bonetail.
@@RaceBandit the unsimplifier changes the superguard timing from 2 frames to 1 frame. unless you can consistently hit those superguards like 90% of the time, the extra damage you take isn't gonna be worth the extra SP.
og game betta by far remake is mickey mouse (proof: kumasama is french) (speaks for itself)
This boss is easy in my opinion
Good for you man! It took me several attempts and some serious antistrating to win against him, so I’m glad you had an easy time.
