There really is just something so very charming about this set. I'm not sure what it is about the set that makes me smile, but I like it. Thank you for sharing this with us Jang.
This was my first Lego house. But it will always be one of my all-time faves for a series of factores: colour scheme, design, accessories (table, bed, cups, chairs, printed piece...), car... Wow, what a first-time Lego house this set is!
I have some really fond memories of this particular set. I built it with my grandpa when I was a child. This house is probably my favourite Lego town set and definitely among my top twenty most favourite Lego sets of all times. Not just because of my fond memories but also because it is simply extremely well designed and just good looking. Plus it was really fun to play with it when I was a child.
This is a very "classic" LEGO set. Johnny Thunder would enjoy spending his retirement here, he would be happy. But Johnny does not want to retire any time soon, as you saw, I was in the LEGO Movie and live on!!!
love the base plate and the car, JANG was right about the roof of some lego cars today, very nice set for its time and still looks amazing, great find JANG
Gonna be great to see what kind of residential buildings you could possibly make. There are many different styles of houses, but most common are the classic sloped roof, and a more modern (rectangular?) style.
I loved this house. Played much with it in the 80s. I still have all the pieces. You're not kidding about the price of that tree, though (I just checked on eBay).
I think the smaller scale is more inspiring: - you can build stuff more easily and from fewer parts - it forces you to think of things more abstractly (e.g. the car is not very identifiable as a particular brand or very specific model) - most importantly: four dots fit the lane width of playing carpets (e.g. IKEA) perfectly ;-)
Harm10412 The wheels and the minifigs give it away. Not that it is a problem, but the sets im more nostalgic about were from the nineties since i was born in 94.
Mickey the Maniac Yeah, I just realized with his latest uploads that most of the sets we still played with in the nineties were actually from the eighties... ;)
Nice review. Been following you for a while now and recently helped my parents clean out their basement where I found all of the Lego from my childhood 20 - 25 years ago. There also were multiples of old cataloges. Since I really enjoy your videos of old cataloges, I wonder whether there is any way for me to get some of those to you. Let me know :)
I love these classic reviews! Makes me wonder, with this be the general scale of your custom houses and living spaces in your lego city, or will you go smaller to conserve space?
I have this 6374 holiday home all sealed with cellophane still on I had another one in 83 which I played with excessively My sister took all the lego from my moms house but she held this one back which was one of ours never used so we had each :)please can you let me know I have a happy little boy who wants to have star wars lego X
This house ia to small for my costum city. I like the set but it would be better if it was bigger then that. The porch is to small for the cars that i have in my city. I would like to buy this set and customize this set.
If only LEGO brought in a line or re-released town sets from this time period.

I love these classic Lego town sets! So wholesome and good!

Had this when I was a kid, it was one of my favorites! My favorite themes used to be houses and space!

one of the best early lego holiday homes, :)
Super super cute! Thanks for sharing! ☺️☺️
These trees are awsome. I hope they show up in upcoming sets

Great review. I had this set when I was a kid. Lots of fun back then.
Very neat little house.
I remember this set being my very first Lego set ever!
I like these old sets because they are from my childhood. And off course I still own them.
Lego should bring more large plates, I love this one :)
They should rename Lego City, to Lego Services, 'cause that's all City brings us.
+MOCMan1970 Actually the City House set (which is the only City house BTW)was released in 2010.
Creator gives us buildings. City gives us service buildings and vehicles.
Another set from my childhood :)
So Simple, so nice.
Really good set for the classics!
I loved this house. Played much with it in the 80s. I still have all the pieces. You're not kidding about the price of that tree, though (I just checked on eBay).
Nicely set!
Nice review here. This is a nice set. Wanted to have one as a child. Nice baseplate.
I got this for Christmas in 1983. I really wish I still had my Lego!
This is so beautiful :O
Love this set
I love that base plate and tree great review Jang you deserve everyone of those subscribers and more ;)
I love that you review vintage lego sets! Could you do the rare Blacksmith shop 3739?

I always wanted this. and now I'm 39 :(
But that doesn't mean you can stop and give up to achieve your dreams
I still want it...and I'm 43!
it's a shame that they dont do alternate builds anymore
They do, creator
Mr.madman they do on most their sets. he or she is talking about lego city.
It's called Lego creator
I saw that set at a lego show here in Australia also a sealed train set one of the first trains and those tall trees like $3 AUD each!
Such a cute set ^^ . A little too old to be from the era i like the most (90'ies) but it is still very nice to see such a complete and cozy house.
Ok, I was only born in 83, but had he not put the date on it, I would have guessed the nineties...

I can't believe you can obtain sets as old as 1983.I'm genuinely surprised.
just go to Bricklink.com for sets that date way back.
I want this set badly :(

My mother used to have this (now still has it) though is missing many pieces.

If the base plate is exlusive to that set then i've may got the rest of the set somewhere stacked in boxes or something like that
Wow this set is older then me

U need 60097 set if u want to cover more holes in your city. Or it's just a good set)))
That set isn't out yet, though; it would look cool,in his city, though.
Isaac Fellows I know, I watched toyfair. But it IS nice set.
Hi jang u know how u break your Lego sets for pieces for your city do you break the classic sets? Serious question
i have this :D
This house looks a lot like the other classic house
This set looks amazing! Too bad they couldn't make more than 6 colors.
i think that red flat tile is supposed to be pork but why is it not on a plate? hmm maybe the table is really really clean...
I'm thirteen and I love lego
Hi jang I was just scrolling down and I saw this set and I have this set how much is the set worth now
where did u get this
were do you get the old sets?
EBay or Bricklink is a good place!
I wish Lego would go back to basics, keep it simple, less is more.
Minifigures- sleeping in shifts since 1979
Wow I wasn't even born yet :)
