When I was a kid, I found that Police Chief half buried in sand at a playground, missing a hand and the hat... Immediately I got him a hand, but ot took me years to get him the correct hat. Recently I've got the correct one and it's a minifigure that I cherish very much.
its amazing how some of the parts trigger my childhood memory. like the clear garage door sections... havent seen for decades and now i remember how damn proud i was when i got them back then... thx dude
I used to have that set, so this video really brings back very fond memories that included some of the alternate builds (plus extras that I used from my fire station). Thank you for bringing me back to that wonderful time!
Man, your taking me back to Xmas of 83 where I got this set and my brother got the space station one. Built it to completion, showed it to my parents, my brother came by with his lego space mobile in hand and dropped a imaginary atomic bomb by hand on the station and decimated it ... Memories.
How cool. Have not seen this in years. I think this is one of the first ever "big sets" I got as a really young kid. :D So neat to get a closeup again. Only had it in my memory till now.
Hi JangBricks I really love the care you put in the making of your videos, as a nice mirror to the love we have for those toys and the fun and happiness they brought to us kids at that time. Go on like this!!!
received this classic in 1985, best part of this set is very cool semi- rare clear blue skylights, more often seen in space but first time used in city building. best looking police station of all time definitely green glass police station from 1998- command post central- even lego thought it classic enough for rereleasing in 2002 along with 1994's century skyway airport, guarded inn, gas & wash express, plus others. 2nd best PS would be 1993's central precinct HQ.
Yep. I had the serif sign as well (Australia). And agree, the doors were printed. All doors with signs were printed then. Man I loved that set. I think it was the biggest one I ever got.
I wonder if kids from the 80s played with Transformers and Legos together like have Lego figures running from Decepticons and Autobots during a battle.
I have an large box at home with many old bricks like this, most are broken or missing complete. So it's not possible to rebuild, but i had all the old instructions, So its cool to see what it was original.
I think the windows also had stickers on the 2nd floor top with white lines them kind of like the lego hospital from the eighties, They had white lines across them with the clear background kind of like of a Venetian blind
I think the "POLICE" sign is original, because the sign on my 6384 set is like the same. Only print at the front of the white brick with oldschool letters.
The Police sign is correct. The box photo had a prototype set shown which is the norm. ALL actual sets SOLD worldwide had the serif font for the sign. Also, I recall my set didn't come with the stickers for the helicopter and bike Police signs...
I have this set. :) Though mine is also missing a few parts. The helicopter is missing the inverted screen and the correct color tail propeller bracket (I used a non sloped windscreen piece instead of the inverted piece) It's missing the grey antenna (I put a white one on) and it's missing three blue panels on the garage door. These sets are old and used and I never expect them to be 100% complete and accurate. Though it was wrong of the ebay seller to advertise it as such. I sometimes buy incomplete sets or sets that have had parts substituted cause they are often cheaper on ebay. Then I replace the missing/substituted parts with the correct parts.
About the "Police" sign, I used to have it and I remember perfectly. Even tough on the box it is sans-serif, I ASSURE you on the actual brick it was serif like you have. I was a kid of about 9 years, I remembered I felt a bit cheated by it.
Interesting. I wonder what percentage of each were shipped out. Googling around to see other owners' sets, it does look like about 25-30% have the sans serif font like on the box, the rest have the leftover older version.
JANGBRiCKS This was my first big LEGO set I had as a kid and I loved it immensely. I got it Christmas of '83 and mine came with the sans serif POLICE sign like the one pictured on the box. Also, the police car doors had POLICE printed on them instead of stickers.
+JANGBRiCKS I also still have this original and it has the bolder letters as your set has. Could perhaps be difference in release area too. Mine is from the Netherlands.
I always considered the lego figure with the badge and white cap the sergeant and the guy with the red shirt the prisoner, didn't the motorcycle come with an antenna on the back as well and Was for front plastic windows of the helicopter hinge to swing up?
My dad gave me a bin yesterday I was expecting beany baby's but I opend it to 30 year old Legos I have the space set the hospital the exhone set and even the castle set but there all broken but me and my brother are going to fix them I have the original Lego police station and I'm rebuilding it but just to think that my dad bought these to play with then threw them into a bin in my basement now people would kill to have on of these sets now I have like six of them man I'm one lucky kid
Interesting set... is that upper 'control panel' in the station a printed inverted slope or a regular slope upside down? Also, how did they assemble the windows in reverse like that, whats holding them together?
Hi Jang, just wondering whether you will be able to find the "LEGO 6398 Central Precinct", which was released in 1993. That police station was really classic as well, and it was very close to the style of the police station that we have today. Love all your classic videos and they really bring back my childhood memories. Thanks! :)
hi Jang, I have a lego slip that was in a 1984 set showing other sets, your police station is one and the set picture has the sign like your box but the set in the town seen has the same sign as you got with this set, not sure if it means anything, andy

Thanks for showing these old sets. It really makes me want to build my own old sets again.
I used to have that set, so this video really brings back very fond memories that included some of the alternate builds (plus extras that I used from my fire station). Thank you for bringing me back to that wonderful time!

Thankyou for the walk down memory lane
We remember only for predict future.
The paddles are for the traffic officer to use hence they are green and red
The base is the same as the Coastal Rescue Base (6387) from 1989, my all time favorite set from my later youth.
I wonder if kids from the 80s played with Transformers and Legos together like have Lego figures running from Decepticons and Autobots during a battle.
I did with my brothers
This is one of mine projects I ever had, so I like it to see it back
This is indeed the second police station. Have it myself and played a lot with it.
I have an large box at home with many old bricks like this, most are broken or missing complete. So it's not possible to rebuild, but i had all the old instructions, So its cool to see what it was original.
It was my first Lego :) thanks for the upload
This is such a comfy set
This is one of those classic sets that could easily pass in a modern Lego city, maybe some touch ups but its nice!
I think the windows also had stickers on the 2nd floor top with white lines them kind of like the lego hospital from the eighties, They had white lines across them with the clear background kind of like of a Venetian blind
This looks like a cool set! :)
A very sharp eye jang i would not have noticed some of the replaced parts!!
Good review. Normally people wouldn't be like you how you like old pieces of lego work loved the review.
Congratulations on 1 million
i thought that the dude was a inmate but the set is coool !!!!!!!!!!
I think the "POLICE" sign is original, because the sign on my 6384 set is like the same. Only print at the front of the white brick with oldschool letters.
clarus79 same
yes, this is my first lego set. all "police" signs are original stickers. my parents sometimes washed the LEGOs in the washing machine. All deleted
Wow so cool
ah cool :) ...back of the boxes always had some 2nd idea for building , LOVED THAT !! wish i had more of the same classic sets >
ps, I got this Xmas 1983...rebuilt it painstakingly a few years back...love this set. only bits missing are the aerial and helicopter...
Nice set! I want it!
the guy with the red shirt could be a under cover police officer
Hey jang I love this set l really want it
The Police sign is correct. The box photo had a prototype set shown which is the norm. ALL actual sets SOLD worldwide had the serif font for the sign. Also, I recall my set didn't come with the stickers for the helicopter and bike Police signs...

I have this set. :) Though mine is also missing a few parts. Ahhhh, yes. Lego land town. I remember it well.
I have the little police sticker for the chopper if you would like it, how do you whiten up your yellowed white bits,
About the "Police" sign, I used to have it and I remember perfectly. Even tough on the box it is sans-serif, I ASSURE you on the actual brick it was serif like you have. I was a kid of about 9 years, I remembered I felt a bit cheated by it.

I wish the simpsons house used that garage piece
But that wouldnt be the right kind of door for the simpson's house. It didnt roll up.
Do you have 6386? That was my first set.
