Yep, I got into Amy almost 2 years ago after I heard tears dry on there own on a show I was watching. That documentary was the first thing I watched of her. Sad story but loved her voice.

Amy was so real I can’t help but have the opinion no actress can do her justice. The documentary was superb, for me this won’t come close to the feeling that gave.

I love a good documentary but it's no different than a movie based on her life it may be over dramatized but Amy was such a huge star that wasn't taken serious when she was alive... no one valued her, it wasn't until she died when people felt the need to "protect" her.
@@incufan120 Come on now. You can't equate a documentary with a narrative film. They're entirely dissimilar. One is driven by real life and the other by imagination trying to create a certain audience response. And she wasn't taken seriously? Really? She didn't win a laundry list of music awards? Didn't make huge amounts of money? Didn't have millions of fans all over the world? She was a musician and a drug addict. No one made her do drugs. Her call. Her demise. It is what it is.
I definitely get why this would come to fruition but, I don't know man, it feels still too close and to raw a story to tell without making it something too shiny & simple. There may be complexity beyond the trailer, and this is not about the actors, but the documentary was enough for now. ❤
It's definitely crass, but it's to be expected as these are the times are living in. Insert tragic celeb/artist story into the standard biopic template, a few tweaks here and there, crank it out so that everyone showing up to watch it can pretend they weren't the reason Perez Hilton (and his graphic paint.exe drawings of you know what on her) was the most trafficked site during the era he led the the UK and US to absolutely dog her over every aspect of her life. "Well that may be true but *I* never visited the site or approved of that" - said everyone, hoping nobody else realizes the math doesn't add up. Let this woman's dignity have some peace as she certainly was never afforded any when she was alive. But yay, profits, awards season, theatrical acceptance speeches, one or two perfect tears at the end.. trying to force a bowtie at the end ... so genuine.... You're 100% right to feel cynical and uneasy about this, the intentions, the self serving nature of why studios and estates collaborate on projects like this. But as long as people keep paying to see them, they'll keep making them. Money > dignity, even if we swear up and down "well not me!"

Noomi Rapace was named years ago as the actress who would portray Amy first in a biopic . Would have loved to have seen it . She seemed like the ideal choice to play Amy.
Really? She would be perfect looks wise and acting wise, just wonder about her accent though. I do think only an English actress could speak like her authentically.

Marisa Abela is a promising actress on the rise. You need to watch her work especially the HBO Max series “Industry”. She may not look the part but she’s going to do well by Amy, she’s a good actress.

I'm a big fan of Marisa Abela from Industry, she's superb in that. This is, however a HUGE role to take on. I will pass judgement when I've actually seen this film. Always hard to tell a lot, from a trailer, to be honest.

Amy es simplemente inimitable, es imposible actuarla etc. Aparte la actriz más qué sentir a Amy la está re contra imitando, nisiquiera puedo ver el dolor en ella, la vibra qué tenía Amy. Porqué Amy era una mujer muy poderosa para replicarla. La actriz no sé parece ni en lo blanco del ojo a ella, sin contar qué Amy odiaria esto. Hubieran sólo dejado los documentales, recordarla cómo ella era. I think this actress embodies the sweet and vulnerable side to Amy pretty well but there is an edge that seems missing. Hair and make-up and prosthetics can make you look like anyone - It's the spirit that's missing. Amy was not like Marylin Monroe who was always sweet and soft. There was this rawness, this bluntness about her.

I just dong get it why people kept saying its a problem she didnt look like Amy Winehouse. Well she didnt, and she didnt have to. Its not impressionist performance like SNL. Acting doesnt meant u need to look exactly like the character you potray. Hellen Mirren, Claire Foy, Olivia Colman didnt look like the Queen, Gary Oldman didnt look like Churchill, Emma Corrin nothing like Diana, Nicole Kidman isnt Lucille Ball. But they all gave tremendous performance that make the look doesnt really matter. I say, lets wait until the film release, to really judge the actress.

It's obvious nobody will ever be Amy but the woman in this movie 🎥 Back to Black does a great job portraying her personality, spunkiness, happy, chillin vibe,the way she dressed , walked,hair n makeup amazing,she may not look like Amy but she talked like her,acted like her, if you can visualize this actress as Amy then you will feel it's her in ways as a fan. I like watching movies 🎥 like this I've watched a lot of documentaries on Amy she was young, beautiful, talented, misunderstood it's sad her life ended the way it did my sister Ericka passed away from alcoholism in "2022"at 50 years old I miss my sister dearly.❤

I really hope that this biopic will include the actual cause of her death. Yes it was alcohol poisoning but she was also bulimic and even her family said that is what they believe killed her. This biopic looks amazing and I can’t wait to watch it.. I just hope that they include the lesser known parts of her life too.
Most people don't know that she was booed off stage the night that she died. She was either so drunk or high during the performance that she couldn't properly put on the show which why the audience booed. Maybe she thought she was done.

It feels to early for an amy winehouse biopic
I hope this doesn’t fall into the «Elvis» and «Blonde»-trap and dwell too much on her agony and the miserable things in her life. Of course censoring and sugarcoating does no good, and prevents the viewer from getting the full picture, but she should get the respect that she deserves, and should first an formost be presented as what she was, an incredible singer, performer and personality. I know focusing more on the music, as opposed to the drama and the shocking aspects probably attract a smaller audience, but i wish filmmakers had the guts to narrow it down a little and aim towards a more specific group of viewers. When biopics dwell so much on all the drugs, the abuse, the deaths, it just seems exploitative. And also, we already have the documentary, which is already a near perfect display. It’s raw, it’s real, and it already feels like a biopic. Ideally, the movie doesn’t undermine her struggles, yet focuses on the music, her career, her personality, her fans, and ends before she dies imo, or like the documentary where it doesn’t happen until the very end and we don’t see much of it. But I guess we’ll see.

I was about to say the same thing. Amy's life was so complex, like a diamond with many facets. I just don't know but I'll watch all the same.
I think she had an eating disorder and she had alcohol and substance misuse and think she had Bipolar rather than Border Line Personality Disorder. The loss of her beloved Nan really sent her in to self destruct. I think her mum and dad did their best by her. You can't save someone who does not want to be saved. As for that Blake what a weasel he never loved her at all only her fame. May she rest in peace. I think the film is harsh on her legacy. She had a unique voice and may she rest in pace. Not who plays amy winehouse it's same as jack o'connell he doesn't look like amy winehouse ex partner it's just amy winehouse story of life as a star and probably educate other people that are going through depression drugs and alcohol doesn't solve anything depression. The only way of solving depression is to talk to a love one or seek professional help like counseling that can help. R.I.P amy winehouse

Don't shoot me down here, but Marisa Abela I think doesn't resemble Amy Winehouse. Personally I think that Dana Delorenzo should have played her. She was even in a tribute band called House Of Winehouse, in the make-up she looks much more like Amy than the actress playing her in this movie. Dana Delorenzo may be American but I think she can pull off the voice too. She's really passionate about Amy Winehouse and I would defiantly recommend looking up pictures if you haven't already.
