I love what Ronson says at the end. The public is fascinated with the "troubled" Amy. This portraits her in the most beautiful light with all her talent and passion. This is what I think of when I here "Amy Winehouse".
unfortunately the bad press talking shit about her has rooted much of the missinformation and adversion towards amy, someone this gifted and genuinely interesting and kind seemed too outoworldly to be true, it’s truly heartbreaking.
What's striking isn't the beauty of her singing, the depth of the lyrics or her ease in performing. It's her fragility and sense of humour. That crushed beneath the weight of her unwanted celebrity was this beautiful, delicate, sensitive person, burdened by the same insecurities we all live with. The manner in which she whistles at the end is revealing; childlike and innocent in a way. Perhaps she was never equipped to navigate the world into which she was thrust? It's been said many times but; what sad state of affairs comes to pass when one so young and gifted finds herself taken before her time.
Beautifully said, bodhid. Couldn't agree anymore with everything you just said; it saddens me deeply she passed, for sure is somewhere she belongs now. God bless:)
@@autofocus4556 hey dickhead, alcoholism is a disease, not a ‘bad habit’. Not her fault if she had bad parents, a dad that left for another woman at 9 and a mom that brushed off when she told her she’d make herslef vomit as a ‘cool new diet’. She cut herself too, and had depression as a teenager.
If I may say, I’d say her art WAS the life. That’s why so many people connected to her and still do. Not thing in between her sentiment and the cd, that being one of her biggest dreams (2004)
Look at where’s she was recording this, a badly lit studio under a blanket, and listen to her heart sing and totally transcend the room she’s standing in. It’s true magic.
She is a true talent, and she would sound amazing recorded any which way. But many studio's are lit this way - people pay lots of money for the acoustics, not the lighting. Also, the setup with the blanket is a very common way to record vocals professionaly. Often professional audio recording takes a very DIY approach - this is because each record requires a specific approach to get the type of sound needed for each record. The microphone she was singing into there would be quite expensive.
