This was actually the first performance for the China competition's new season of The Singer 2017 [which was why the crowd was excited for it to start at the beginning] -- but what is often overlooked is that he was pretty much a complete unknown to that audience [he's from Kazakhstan and doesn't speak any Chinese] , and least expected or anticipated to do much since he was pretty much unknown to the audience [which is why he was placed to go first -- the most anticipated singers were set to perform last on that episode]. This was the first time the China audience and other performers in the back room on the show heard him sing.
Between his first performance ["S.O.S." in French] and his 2nd performance [Vita's "Opera 2" in Russian], he quickly won their hearts completely.

this song is named "S.O.S d'un terrien en détresse", Which was composed by some French Canadian from Québec, home of Céline Dion. It"s part of the Starmania show. I'm proud of those people from my home province . Dimash sing it perfectly but his French accent is not that good, It took me a while to figure out that it was in French. The funny thing in this song is that when he goes very high, the word say HAUT wich mean : high up. So the melody perfectly match the words. When it goes up, it goes like this : J'aim'rais mieux être un oiseau, J'suis mal dans ma peau . So both high note end with a O , eau is O. It's easier to go so high pitch with an O than pronouncing a " i " for example. He also skip some words , in fact, he use what is really needed to be able to match the melody with his way of signing it. I'm not sure that he fully understand the meaning of the song like a French Canadian would do, because he wouldn't skip any words. But only a french Canadian would mind this small fact because the signing is so outstanding.
