In 2020, we tested the KTM 250SX-F is a Factory Edition against the 2019 Sur Ron X electric dirt bike on a 1 mile off road test loop. In that test, we took the fastest lap of both bikes and the KTM beat the Sur Ron by a significant margin of 15 seconds.
Original Test Video: • Factory KTM vs. SUR-RO...
Viewers suggested that if the Sur Ron had more power and better suspension, it could possibly beat the KTM. To test that theory, Electric Cycle Rider built out a Sur Ron XX Ludicrous with Fox Suspension and brought both bikes to the original 1 mile track to have another race.

Even though, like a lot of us in the comments, I was expecting a truely upgraded Surron with more than 10kW. I guess that on this gnarly trail with loads of roots and whoops, the KTM with its bigger suspensions is at its advantage.
@Riding Buzut You nailed it man. I would be happy to go back with a 72v but the power is not the thing holding the Sur Ron back in these tests. I'm not using the full power of the XX at any point on this track because of how tight and technical the course is. As you mentioned, it really boils down to suspension and chassis and that is where the KTM has the Sur Ron beat. Appreciate the level-headed comment! 👍
Thank you for all this content. U put so much time giving us content. It's like car magazine testing. Thank you.
@Aaron Kent Thanks so much Aaron! It takes a lot of resources to make these videos happen and really appreciate the acknowledgement! 🙏
I just want to say, thank you for the proper camara angle, the perspective. I hate reeling my neck and not be able to see it that which my brain needs to see. Great job on the camera angle and mounting, that took time to master
@Sean Phillips For sure! Thanks!
I would be curious how a similar comparison would be in tight technical woods riding. This is some pretty fast, choppy open woods. I would think the gap would close significantly. Nicely upgraded Surron, thanks for your great content.
@Ray Heppner Thanks for the note!
I think when most people said "faster Sur Ron" they meant a 72v lol.
Yes they can put out 32 kw sometimes
Exactly 99.% of people who have a modded surron have a 72v 300a asi bac4000/8000. You can’t even get surron XX anymore
@@corbikristukat2129 They can easily do 15kw, which is a hell of a lot more than the 6kw the XX puts out.
I don’t think speed is the main issue, even if a 72v would be a little faster. Does it really matter though? There will never be a bike that’s the best at everything, I like my E-XC even if it’s not really best at anything, just a good bike overall.
@@enforcer-enduro Yes, that is the issue, because the power more closely resembles that of the KTM. No one is saying it will be better in every, some, or even no way at all, just that it would be a more apt comparison.
Just learned about the Kollter Banshee ebike. I would love to see a review if you can get your hands on one. I enjoy your channel. Always excellent content. Cheers and Thanks!
Great video! 👍🏼 I think you done a really good job of making it fair and shows people if they are stuck with the option of going gas or electric for off-road enduro/motorcross style riding 👌🏼👍🏼😁
@Wilson Silva I appreciate it! Tried to make it as fair as possible 👍
Great comparison. One thing to note is that a Surron is much more like a 125-150cc dirtbike, which would be an interesting comparison as well. 11 second difference is still pretty impressive given how completely different the two bikes are
Most of us meant a 72v run but okay
^
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’d put up my 72v vs the KTM! Just have to find some fox 40s!!!🎥
@Tyler Ford I wasn't at a loss of power at any point during the test, it's a matter of suspension and chassis. The 72v will also get smoked by the KTM on this track.
@@EdwinOlding We should test your 72v vs. the XX (or X) on this track... It would be a better test. I'm not experiencing a lack of power with the XX at any point in this test, I'm experiencing a lack of chassis/suspension design. The KTM will own it here no matter how much power you throw at the Sur Ron.
I think the point was to use a 72v battery and a better controller like a BAC4000
@Liam Fanning I mentioned it elsewhere but will repeat it again here: I would be happy to go back with a 72v but the power is not the thing holding the Sur Ron back in these tests. I'm not using the full power of the XX at any point on this track because of how tight and technical the course is. It really boils down to suspension and chassis and that is where the KTM has the Sur Ron beat.
@@ElectricCycleRider More power wouldn't hurt im sure but if your talking suspension and handling there's only so much I can see getting done to help. Some guys go full dvo setups but I assume without the weight behind it the suspension gets more twitchy. I remember the Altas being really fun to ride partly because of how heavy they were they could just plow through bumps really smooth but feel light cuz of the smaller motors and lack of a transmission (less spinny bits)
Judging by some of the comments, I dont think that some are understanding the situation...150 amps on this incredibly light bike is alot, and this thing would probably come out of the turns as fast as the KTM but its getting beat up by the awful conditions...sometimes, more weight is the ticket and the KTM will ride out those ruts, dips etc better than the Surron, because when your that light, your getting moved around too much. If this course were much smoother then it would be closer.
@John Zoccano You hit the nail on the head with this comment. More power will make the bike faster in a straight line but in rough terrain the weight and suspension play huge roles in the way you're able to ride the bike. A smoother track would put these bikes closer for sure. Thanks for your perspective!
Definitely true! What I think is, that a suron is awesome for that tighter slower riding. MX bikes are built to ride at high speeds but aren't as agile
@@ElectricCycleRider I’m looking for my first electric dirt bike. With a variety of factors… I’m thinking the *Taleria (mostly because of riding range and quick swappable batteries)* because it’s the same bike as the Sur Ron with better suspension and retains good agility. However, for motocross I’m doubtful it could handle anything serious even with upgrades, though it is a possibility because while it is essentially a Sur Ron… it is a slightly bigger bike with beefier suspension and bridges the gap between electric mountain bike/dirt bike.
Great riding and thanks for taking the time to make such a good comparison. Trails look awesome, too.
Love seeing these bikes being pushed to their limits!
I can’t sneak a KTM 250 or any motocross bike onto my local single track trails but I can with my Sur-Ron. Means everything. Have to do one with the Storm. Great video.
What I take from this is that the better suspension is key. Keeping the wheels on the ground, soaking up more of the uneven ground is the major difference in this instance. I'm riding a modified Surron (EBMX X9K controller) equipped with new racing forks from EXT (Ferro's). My intention is to eventually get longer swingarm as well. I'd really like to see you compare a similarly modified Surron with the KTM. I know that some folks are putting the KTM forks on the Surron for that purpose and improving the ride. There are traits of the emotos that are more appealing to me, one of which is the quiet and the fact that the Surrons are so much quicker in the tight corners and switch backs and the instant on power. Add to that the ability to do my own fine tuning of the dead band and throttle ramping that can be done in seconds through the vesc tool on my phone.
Great video, thanks for taking the time to put it together.
@Eddie Boyd 👍
Thanks for ur time man .. 👋
But please can u do sur ron 72v battery for us ? That would be great💥🔥
@MAHMOOD CAGE Thank you! I will look into it 👍
The Sur Ron XX Is Good Enough For Me !! I Don't Expect It To Be Faster Then A 250 Dirt Bikes . Electric Is The New Trend Now ..
They should called the KTM" hungry E- hogs" because it really sounds like feeding time for hogs to eat. Names associated are Gordon, Razor backs, warthogs, and 🐗 boar.
Do you have any thoughts on how a Drill One might do in comparison to both these bikes?
yeah i want a test too !
@Michael F On this track, it would probably be a toss up. As I mentioned in some other comments from those arguing it "should have been a 72v" that the power really doesn't matter in this scenario. I was not using the full power of the XX or the KTM. It's more that the chassis/suspension is holding the Sur Ron back from beating the KTM. I can only speculate how the Drill One might compare on this track but will likely compare the Drill to the Sur Ron in a separate video 👍
I would think its more likely you'd be faster second lap because you are warmed up. Fatigue should play a lesser role is my guess...
@KG I was doing 5+ laps per bike but I agree, the more I ride the faster I get. Just appeasing those who think otherwise! 👍
Would love to see a sur Ron with 72v and solid 4000, or 8000 watt controller and stack it against the ktm electric bike.
Then show those two times against 3:56.
Different track conditions for sure but 🤷🏻
I do think one major factor here is the amazing suspension the ktm 250 has.
But the suspension he was running in this surron was solid for what it is as well.
E-moto bros are the guys I’m thinking about as far as set up is concerned.
I’d be surprised if they weren’t on board to loan one of theirs for a comparison like this
@M. Gardner You're absolutely right about the suspension. We've got a 72v 8000 project in the works 👍
Can't wait to get a 4k from Emoto Bros for the Sur Ron I'm yet to own! Lol
8k may be too much power for such a light bike to really enjoy full potential.
@@rconn4501 they put out 6.2kw (6200w) stock. 8000 isn't too massive but you will definitely feel it. 14kw on the other hand is insane
As always great work buddy.
Superb presentation. The KTM package has been developed with millions and millions of dollars of R&D and testing over the past 20+ years. Be that as it may, you can take the Sur Ron to far more places and ride than the KTM. In a race setting, on this track the KTM wins on the clock. But it also weighs way more. For those that don't race against ICE bikes, or would rather have fun and ride technical trails, the Sur Ron seems like a great package that will allow the average rider access to way more terrain because it is very quiet. I am seriously considering getting rid of my RMX 450 for one of these. My biggest concern is the range on the electric bikes. On my RMX, I ride usually 20 -30 miles in the Northeast and am exhausted after 3 hrs of riding because it is a fat pig (275lbs)
I’m surprised that Ktm was able to make it the whole way round being it’s a 4 stroke. Thought that small uphill would’ve stopped it.
Great video
Great video Tucker! I have a question, I understand your answer would be pure conjecture, how do you think the lap times between the two would stack up if the rider was at 1/3rd your skill level?
@Jair Park That is an interesting thought... I'd be guessing at what the lap times would be but I imagine the times would get closer. Sounds like a fun video! Any volunteers?? 😬
@@ElectricCycleRider I saw this idea play out in my pavement racing days when guys would switch from the 600cc class to the liter bike class and often go slower on the big bike.
Myself, I’m definitely quicker through tight ugly sections of single track on my Sur Ron than I was on my 200XCW, and that’s one of the easiest gas bikes I’ve ever ridden!
Fantastic test, same (capable) rider, same track, no agenda. Having similar kit (X only and Ktm 300xc) I agree the frame and suspension dynamics are the primary difference (more power only works when you can use it). I'm absolutely hanging out for someone to plant one of these electric drivetrains in a well sorted MX125/250 frame - game on. Keep up this data-driven pragmatic approach - valuable and refreshing.
I agree with you! But I think the suspension isn't bad but the bike overall is more suitable for thigh turns and slower speeds. But for me that's perfekt. A MX bike is too heavy and fast for the type of riding I do. A electric bike or whatever you call it is perfect for the job for me.
Can you find a trail that you think really suits the sur ron and see if you still beat it there? Great videos. I'm waiting for the UBCO FRX1 or FXR1. 15kw and better components... Hopefully
@Yoda 68zac For sure! I will look into doing that. We'll be showing off the UBCO FRX1 when the production model is released 👍
Nicot Ebeast, Sur Ron Storm Bee, or KTM freeride E? Have a heavily upgraded KO Talaria but want to go up another level. Thoughts?
@Mike Ray Great question... I can address two of those bikes in an upcoming video (stay tuned on the channel) that should help answer your question... but I have not ridden the Nicot EBeast. I'll ride it before the end of the year.
@Electric Cycle Rider looking forward to the review. Whatever your doing... I gotta hang with you. Lol. I think storm bee is compelling @ price point.
@Mike Ray The Storm Bee and KTM Freeride comparison video is live here: ruclips.net/video/dO-s4IBTYIc/видео.html
I ride some tight singletrack in S.W. Missouri and I think an upgraded Sur Ron might successfully challenge my YZ250 I use on those trails. And it would likely be less physically tiring while doing it. But on fast trails I think the gassers 12" suspension travel vs the 8" electric is just too much advantage to overcome even if it had been a 12-15 kw 72v version. Even among the gas bikes it mostly boils down to where you want to ride. My two stroke 250 is for tight singletrack. The point and shoot stability of my Husky 450 four stroke is more fun on doubletrack or fast singletrack.
Hey brother, love the videos! Just picked up a couple x260s and loving them so far. Couple Qs: I appear to be similar in height/weight as you, what tire pressures are you running on the Sur Ron? I live in Monument, CO. Also, what moto singletrack are you riding in this video? For that matter, how about the aspen singletrack on the recent KTM 300 v E-XC? Thanks a ton, cheers!
Great review. I’d like to see THIS Sur Ron compared to the KTM e-freeride. And the Drill One.
@chris I can probably make that happen. Stay tuned. As for the Drill One, it would not make it 1 lap around this track without overheating. It's the unfortunate trait of that bike.
Would love to see a Zero FX run this course against the KTM too.
That would be super interesting
@Dillon Robinson I've got some videos coming up with the Zero FX and will dive into some thoughts about that in the video! Thanks for the suggestion 👍
I have both a Sur-Ron and a Sherco 300. It’s like comparing apples to oranges. The suspension alone on a dirt bike will make you faster. There’s like 40 plus years of R&D into the modern gas bikes
@Alek Blaser I agree that this is an apples to oranges comparison. The thing is, I have an inbox full of viewers wondering if they should sell their orange for an apple and that's why I do these tests. You're absolutely right that years of expensive R&D has evolved modern gas bikes to superior chassis and suspension design. Case and point in the video above! Thanks for the note 👍
Compare Factory KTM vs Drill one please
Good stuff. Sick looking sur ron. +1 if you could get your hands on a 72v sur ron or drill one
Anyone who thinks a Surron has any chance of beating a full motocross bike in terrain like this has no experience on a motocross racing bike. Two very different machines with the KTM having massively more power (40-50HP vs about 10hp) and massively better suspension than a Fox equipped Surron! The ONLY place a Surron has any chance of beating an MX bike is in very tight and technical terrain where you cannot use the extra power of the MX bike for an advantage and the light weight of the surron becomes a bigger advantage than the power of the MX bike.
Intelligent comment, can I ask, would you perform the test the same way?
Exactly! Just facts!
@@rockefeller13I like seeing comparisons like this because I’m an MX racer and I appreciate the comparison. But I also know many people don’t understand the performance gap from a KtM to a SurRon and I think a better comparison would be with some type of trail bike rather than a racing MX bike....but putting KTM vs SurRon gets you views so it’s understandable. We recently did a lap time test (Charged Cycle Works) and although we had a KTM300 and KTM350 with us we decided to put the Honda CRF250f trail bike on the track with the SurRon and it was very comparable in time to the SurRon. The Honda had more power and plush suspension but it’s VERY heavy and struggled with traction in the turns and lots of shifting gears making it more challenging to get a faster lap time. It was also hard to find the best gear to be in where the SurRon is always in the perfect gear. :)
whats the range on the modified Sur Ron when you ride it hard like that? how much did the mods cost?
Do you think the Sur-rons wheel base is a too small to be fast in the rough stuff? Longer swing-arm?
Just from the clips on the video like you said the KTMs got a lot more power but it also looks a lot more sure-footed whereas when you're showing the clips when you're on the surround it seems you're spending a lot more time hopping to jumps and spending a little more time in the air whereas the KTM has a lot more of that rear tire pushing you most of the time
Is your Sur Ron XX for Sale by chance? Very Interested.
Hey those 3 inch rise protaper bars seem to be sold out everywhere including on Amazon, is this true or am I looking in the wrong place?
Yes they are sold out everywhere, check out @chargedcycleworks they have 3" risers from AtomLabs if you do not want to wait for ProTaper to run more production.
Try Deity riser bars, they are in stock. 3.2". I have a pair on my Sur Ron. The ergonomics are way better.
Nice. But I’m thinking that the reason the KTM is victorious is because it belongs to a higher class type bike than the Sur Ron. Next time test the Storm Bee on that same scenario vs the KTM.
That would be a great idea👍
I seriously can't wait for it to come to the States. It's the only reason I haven't pulled the trigger on a Light Bee X.
@@nxdboi Storm Bee will be sold by Luna Cycles very soon.
@@fastrack59 Really? I was under the impression that they already said they wouldn't be carrying it because they are in the business of selling bicycles.
@@nxdboi They are in fact in the business of primarily selling electric bikes.
Hang on.... first comparison was with a KTM Freeride EXC... and now it's with a combustion engine vs a modded electric bike (which btw every youtube user was screaming for the 72V comparison.... use your listed updated mods with the Sur-ron with a 72V + the BAC8000 against both bikes and please upload a video... I'd personally love to see the results
Would be more interesting if you stacked it to a WR250 or a parts bin KTM 250
I would like to see a weight, suspension, and top speed matched test. My assumption would be that the torque and low center of gravity of the e-moto would mean a substantially better time.
see the thing about the sur ron xx is that it hits hard upfront but on a 72v bac4000 it hits way harder once it gets going on 13kws.
You should definitely do a 72v asi powered surron vs the ktm very similar power levels at half the weight almost
Great video! Gotta give some style points to that Surron tho. That is a slick looking bike
@Jesse Lockamy For sure! The Sur Ron is a great bike! 👍
What would be the price difference between these two bikes?
At the surron sure looks like a blast
appreciate the vid - my kid rides a ktm E5 & me chasing him on surronX am still a trail squirrel LOL I ordered a Stark Varg as Ktms E offering is annoying you cannot charge with standard 110v outlet inUS :/ Get on board KTM! - In urban environments E bikes allow more riding & Im all for more riding but will never replace gassers
appreciate the insight ;)
I will absolutely defer to the guy actually riding the bikes over my lazy ass sitting at my desktop. If he says it's faster, it's faster, until other folks are willing to acquire the bikes, ride the courses, film and edit the videos.
With that said, that sur ron is awesome. Not hearing that loud ass engine is worth 11 seconds to me lol.
@focused313 Haha, appreciate that!
The KTM can be ridden to the trails, the electric motorcycle cannot and is not street legal (in spite of the fact that you see them on sidewalks and bicycle paths). In addition, not hearing that engine requires IMMEDIATE government regulations as you have a ton of teenagers purchasing these that have no license and race around like silent missiles on mountain bike trails. They have already killed many pedestrians and need to have some kind of siren on them and way to keep them off the streets and bicycle trails and parks. If you can't ride your dirtbike there, you can't ride your electric motorcycle!!!
@@BoopSnoot shut up Karen
@@Nik-gh6gz thank you
Spot on my man. Spot on.
@ElectroBraap 🙌
I love the surron and all I own one and it cannot beat a full on dirt bike especially a Ktm, a surron is a electric mountain bike not a dirt bike. It’s like comparing apple with oranges. Great video bro just sucks people are trynna make excuses for the surron
I was expecting a 72v sur ron.
Now the new full size Storm Bee V KTM would be very interesting
Storm Vs KTM Freeride Electric would interest me more.
Drill also.
Too bad it doesn’t exist in North America :/
@@CrankinYoYo The Drill is not in the same league. It is more on page with a slightly modded Sur Ron.
@@nxdboi isn't it same or close power to both? Shorter and lighter and more DH bike suspension, but still be an interesting comparison.
For extremely talented riders, yes the gas bike will be faster. But I’ll chime in with my experience.
I have NEVER ridden off road. I bought a a Sur Ron to commute and play with. My buddy took me to a dirt bike track and we ripped on it all day. I was right on his tail the whole time. He’s not a professional nor ridiculously expedited, but he’s not a beginner by any means. I had never ridden trails.
So for your weekend warriors, I can guarantee you’ll be pretty fast on this and progress your skills. The stock Sur Ron isn’t fast enough to clear so,e jumps or whoops and that’s expected. The latest ultra bee might fox that.
But I think most experienced riders know what they’re getting into with these and understand gas is faster. But for the new rider, these bikes are ridiculously confidence inspiring. I’ll drift mine, stoppie it, slide it, jump it, slam burns, etc. On a full size dirt bike, I will casually survive the trail and that’s about it.
I can’t wait to see modified Sur Ron ultra bees. The gap between gas and electric is quickly closing. It’s taken gas bikes decades to achieve this. Electric is fairly new and rapidly progressing.
For anyone against electric, that’s fine. But understand that tracks are closing and the general populations hates dirt bikes. I can ride my Sur Ron every day any time anywhere. My two stroke needs to be loaded in the back of a truck and taken to dedicated tracks. Where I live, there’s only one an hour away only open on weekends and you gotta pay. And it’s not always open. And it’s not always open to the public when there’s races.
I just want Yamaha to make a YZ chassis with a 15+ kw motor. Add a transmission and “clutch”. Add reverse option. Optional footbrake. Put speakers on them to mimic a 2 or 4 stroke. It’s nice to be heard on the trail so you don’t crash at an intersection. Offer headlight and taillight. Try to make it street legal. Use the saved space for storage and charger. And offer GYTR upgrades like controllers and make affordable spare batteries. It would be absolutely unstoppable.
Any chance you're gonna make it to Europe or Australia and try the Sur Ron Storm? Looks like it could finally dethrone the Alta to me!
@brycen phillips I will for sure!
In my opinion, no. Power wise, maybe. Chassis wise, don't think so
can we get a head to head of the freeride vs the alta or the factory ktm???
Great content and well put together Tucker.
No matter how much more power you add to the light bee xx it’s not going to make a bee’s dick difference on this rough whooped out track. A modern dirt bike’s longer wheel base / superior suspension/ huge r&d / additional weight (keeps the bike planted with less deflection) just can’t be compared. They’re the size they are for a reason
@mikeaust80 You are absolutely right.
I wrote that because of all the “your not using 72v”
Either way enjoyed the video 👍
@@mikeaust80 You hit the nail on the head, "more power" is not the reason the KTM beats the Sur Ron. Much appreciated and thanks for the support 👍
Awesome comparison.
There's no way the Surron can keep up with the KTM on the straight aways. It's not even close. But a more technical trail the Surron could win with it's nimbleness and acceleration. A closer race would be to use a 125 dirt bike over the 250.
I think the main problem is that the bike Surron is too lightweight, heavier shocks and tyres on the KTM allow it to blast through the bumps with ease. If you are finding you have more battery power left than you need then you can push the surron even harder by either increasing the voltage of the battery by a cell or two (if the motor and controller are allowing higher voltages). Or you can push the current setup a bit harder by adding heavier suspension and tires. or even better, both of the above.
That's some fantastic riding 😮
Try a Steath B52 i think you'll like that.
Next up, Sur-ron Storm Bee vs KTM?
We'll be featuring it when the production model is available in the US! 👍
Wouldn’t be easier to just straight line race, dyno comparison? By adding the suspension and handling variables, the muddle just gets fuddled more.
@steve frazier It might be easier but less comprehensive. Real world scenarios on terrain that we normally ride is more valuable to us!
Looks like Croom in Florida, nice riding spot
72V LIGHTBRINGER battery would double your HP. Dyno shows 24 HP
SURON XX is only 12HP
I've been wanting to get back into MX/Trail but I've always never liked the 'weight' of a full fledged bike. Even a 125 smoker feels like a pig compared to the MTB's that I race. Maybe this is the answer for tooling around??
If you did the test with a 72v battery and BAC4000 tuned to 14Kw you will probably beat the KTM by a margin. Just the BAC4000 with that 150a controller could reach some high KW.
How tall are you if you don’t mind me wondering, I’m just curious to see your height back the surron because that’s my only concern about it I’m 5”8
I'm 6' tall and have a lot of fun on the Surron. In my mind the Surron is not a full sized bike, it's more like a mountain bike with a motor and a play-bike and from that perspective a ton of fun. Once you upgrade to full MX tires in either 18/21 or 16/19 the bike has incredible cornering capabilities!
Same height, it’s perfect
Ur surron is still sweet.👍😁
A KTM EXC (off-road bike) would be better suited to this test. But you dont have one of those & it would crush the SR even harder. Take these two bikes to a motocross track! That would be a cool video! EC bikes try real hard to be motocross bikes. Yours especially with the XL tires/wheels/etc. only made up 4 sec. lol You are close but just not quite there yet! i'll choose the motorcycle for now.
@Hatchet Harry Great points! I do have a KTM E-XC and agree it would be a closer competitor to the SX-F.
Now just a sur ron with a 72V battery, BAC 8000 and 64T sprocket left to test.
If you were going to be using a modified surron you might as well have gotten a big boy battery and a big boy controller. 72v nucular 24f or 144v Kelly controller. Xx with stock battery is still pretty weak lol
No matter which one's faster I'd rather have the electric the one thing low maintenance they are lighter easier to handle and you can see your front tire I think I might take my front fender off my bike lol
So I am NOT a fan of electric and I see this is 2 years old, but the stark varg and the ar moto x should win this. At least alien rides builds the KTM freeride with gears and a clutch. Like that they flipped the swingarm and used linkage on the rear. They are perfect for riding somewhere you don't want to make noise.
Id like to see the drill go up against ktm 😁
@KG 👍👍
Really like the look you have going on your XX
@The Dirt Dad Thanks! It came out real sharp.
What is the point of these comparisons? Weight, wheel size as well as inertia differential make these things incomparable.
How much did it cost to shave off those 4 seconds on the surron? I really like the surron, but these are an expensive toy, not cost effective when comparing to a dirt bike
-15 seconds verses -11 seconds and spending roughly 3,000 extra dollars over a standard X model is not the grandest investment for most. The Japanese dirtbikes are of course superior to any Sur ron. Now Alta Motors 2018 MXR a different story.
"Tired after a 1 mile lap"? I'm guessing that comment was from the ebike community...
Great comparison…. I would also pick the k mart trail machine. Ktm because there bad ass & quality. I’ve had one , a 425 exc-r . Now I have a Sur Ron range stresses . Am I gonna make it ? Lol it’s a blast tho
72v from lightspeed also with the bac 8000 controller
Definitely apples to oranges but appreciate the comparison
surron x must be compared with maximum something like 85cc class. so this class is more close in weight/size/power and price with surron ultra. and I think any 85cc will be beaten by ultra in this condition. but for me is the most interesting to make it face to face ultra and 85cc on a good supercross track.
You should ride a storm bee
ALTA?
To be honest you would compare a lot better with a 72v battery on the sur Ron
Whats more fun to ride?
@Jake Taff In this terrain, the KTM is more fun to ride.
That bike is great to mob in when your neighbors are whiny cry baby's about noise though?
It looks like you need a 22kw offroad Sur-Ron 🤔
I am not excited about subaru drivers coming to tracks in the next few years
@DragonNF 😂
I would like to see Alta vs KTM
Yeah pretty sure modified Sur Ron was referring to 72 volt, try again XD
Try the ktm free ride or alta. Much more fair comparison
