@Joseph Marton First off this is a professional pushing the bike to the absolute limit so you need to be dressed properly. And second, it's no super bike so of course it won't be able to lean like a Yamaha R6.
I was not even two minutes into this video and it's already one of the best reviews i've seen in 2 yrs. Great job. I already wanted the bike and this just made me not want to wait much longer.
Great review. This video made me realize two things. I WANT ONE! I really ride like an old man in no rush to go anywhere. Keep these great videos coming. Thanks.
I love my 2020 Fat Bob!!! It's my first Harley and 30 years since i been on a bike. I previously had a brand new 1991 GSX-R 750 when I was in my youth. I test rode a bunch of bikes and the Fat Bob just felt right to me. Almost 14K miles and there is no going back now.
my first bike was an iron 883 which I got last year. Went to test drive the soft tail slim with the intention of upgrading. they pulled out the fat bob and the slim, tried them both and it was an instant love affair with the fat bob. no regrets.
I got my Fat Bob about 3 months ago, I gotta say I love it. I've been able to ride almost every bike Harley has out and then some. Loved your review, very thorough, and you actually Rode it, and know how to ride. It has a lot of potential for upgrades as well. As it sits stock, it has a good amount of power and its very easy to manage. I do agree on the Mirrors, you can only adjust them so much and I'm also not fond of the horn placement. But you do get used to it. I've almost got 19,000km in that short of time, the rear brakes leave something to be desired and does the suspension. It does great for stock, but there are way better options available like Legend or Ohlins.
Excellent, in a language we could understand, for 20:01mins. Ps No full pipes allowed! Homeless everywhere! Lamborghini supercar! The EU Consortium would be proud to have California as a new member! Truly!
Looking into buying a Fat Bob, I feel like I've watched just about every so-called review/test on YT! And most of them are just pedestrian processions behind a guide on a demo day. Interesting, but rarely insightful. As someone who has ridden all kinds of bikes - including litre sportsbikes - I think this is maybe the most insightful video I've found about how it feels and performs. Thanks for doing it. Oh - and as for the riding kit? Great stuff. Safety first when working - which this was - but also reinforces the point that this reviewer is not your typical Harley die-hard! And he's used to performance machines. THAT is the person I needed a review from. Top stuff all round. PS: John - if you're reading - that bend you took at 60 that would be 120 on a sportsbike. What speed do you think the Fat Bob could take it at?
@bartelsHD best motorcycle review bar none brother. I have the dyna 09 fat Bob that I love riding and it gives as much as I take . Man your coverage is spot in this video. Keep doing what you do. Stay up and stay alive
Love the review man thank you, and the fact you used to riding much more sportier stuff is a great barometer for me; it’s good to have that perspective and input. Cheers and respect; stay corona safe- ie get the coronas out of the safe and have a beer👍.
Lane splitting not legal here. You wouldn't get through a day here without someone feeding you a car door and then it will be your fault and you will pay for all of it. Also in the 35 plus years of my driving, I've used the horn 4 times ever. Thanks for the Video. Oh and weaving back and forth between lanes here is considered reckless driving.
A slipper shift would definitely be easier but at the moment it isn't an option. Harley thought that with this bike a traditional manual transmission would suit it best.
Take those bars off and put some 7' risers with a set Motocross bars and will love it even more. TBR 2-1 pipe and a stage 2 HD tuner and she becomes a stump puller !
I really love these, i just don't think i can step down from my S1000R and still enjoy it. Granted I realize they are completely different bikes but..... idk i love em both lol
I know, it's not what you expect to see someone wearing on a Harley-Davidson! Even though its looks heavy and bulky once you're riding its not too bad!
I wear protective gear also it's catching on slowly Harley guys are a tough sell on it but if you ask most of them did wear gear when they rode their dirt bikes growing up. There's some pretty Kool protective flannels and jeans with padding built in so it is hard to say who is wearing what sometimes.
@@joebehanna5894 You're absolutely right, safety is definitely a priority. Nowadays there really is no excuse for not wearing safety gear as there are so many awesome options!
I think its cool to wear protective suit even on a harley. But his pants color shouldve been black tho... to match the bike and his jacket...dark color harley is always awesome
Probably the best intro to a review ever! 😂 The mirrors are definitely an issue for sure, but luckily it is something you can change out. And yes like most Harleys this bike doesn't easily go into neutral as well.
I love Harleys, I also love the Fat Bob.... but honestly, you cannot compare this to a real sportsbike. I like however that you said it is good, for a Harley...
Steve Tackle! Don't listen to this guy! what do you want outta your bike? Upgrades, Mods, Sport bike features? Damn ! Buy a freakin sport bike! Or buy a freakin HARLEY! Wait maybe you need an INDIAN A mans bike or a HARLEY with BIG FAT TIRES and EVERYTHING!

@Joseph Marton First off this is a professional pushing the bike to the absolute limit so you need to be dressed properly. And second, it's no super bike so of course it won't be able to lean like a Yamaha R6.

Glad to see you like the Fat Bob! It is definitely a great underrated bike!
me too. I bought 883 this year and want also this bob. Not new one. But will keep them both, eventually.
Hearing how excited you are makes me really excited to go get mine.
This was the review that finally sold me on the Fat Bob, picked mine up this week. Thanks!
Big big fan of the fat bob, great review!!
Thank You! It really is an underrated bike!
John- great job. Would love to take a closer look when I get back to LA from Thailand.
Thanks! It would definitely be a great bike to try out for sure! Make sure to stay safe!

Thank you! It is such a great bike for sure!
Right on point!!! I ride the canyons here in Colorado, daily (provided no snow)
That's awesome! We always appreciate the true riders who take their bikes out in the canyons!

Great review, John!! Keep ‘em coming!!
Thanks! Make sure to subscribe for more content!
Well done review. This is the bike that’s gonna make me buy my first Harley being a sportbike guy.
Thanks! We've had a lot of sport bike guys give a ton of compliments to this bike!
I've just gotten rid of a sportbike for one.Expecting it I the next 2 weeks.
Picked up my ‘22 FXFB back in February. White pearl sand.
@@B702K wasn't the FXFB the 107?
@@MrMurphc13 You may be right. It’s FXFBS, 114.
I have it and its amazing! Easy to handle and has plenty of power. You need to change the exhaust to get any good sound but well worth it.
It's absolutely is a fantastic bike, as far the exhaust goes its totally up to personal preference
You’re born to VLOG! You have the gift of gab and not one time, I heard you say “uuuummm.” Great job.

If the police were not a factor? 90ish... Ground clearance is the limiting factor for the Fat Bob.
@@roadraceguy lean angle limita the bike too, though not as much.
@@sivvinod3187 it is a harley, so lean angle is ALWAYS limited by ground clearance.
What a great review. Made even better by the riders skills and commentary especially coming from a sports bike background.
Own it, ride it, LOVE IT ❤️
Nice review. Thanks! I'm hoping to get one soon.
Come in and test ride one and see for yourself!
Awesome review thank you very much
Great review especially with your background in Road Racing. Speaks highly of the job H-D has done to try to improve their bikes.
Watching this beast push the Fat Bob has been Enlightening. I'm sold !
Wondeful production quality
Thank you! The craziest part was it was all done by a 14 year old!
Bar end mirrors an absolute must on this bike.
Absolutely agree you!
@Lewis Hunt That works great as well! Many other manufactures have been doing that for a while
So they don't hit the tank at full lock you have to buy the longer stem Harley mirrors, that' what I did with mine.
@@richardbutler1865 That is true, depending on the mirror you definitely could run into that issue. What you did works great as well!

liked your video, one of the better ones on this bike. Locked me in that this will be my next Harley.
Not so many Harley riders wear a one-piece leather suit. I'm watching.
What an excellent review.
The '23 Softail models come with the standard cruise control. Earlier bikes, it can be added.

If it is or was an option, would a slipper shift make much difference? I would always use mids with Zbars/lucky Daves.
A slipper shift would definitely be easier but at the moment it isn't an option. Harley thought that with this bike a traditional manual transmission would suit it best.
Amazing review John 👍👍👍👍

Great review- good job!
Like this video so much, have become a fan of this fatbob model...niceeee

Is it worth the trouble of getting narrower rims or just get a Sport Glide?
You're probably better off with a Sport Glide but you should definitely try out both
Which camera used for shoot this video??
Whats the music / track name in this video please. Get my HD soon great review.👌👍
A supremely entertaining vidio , I say...
Thank You! 🙌 Make sure to stay tuned for more!
Got a question, if you were to swap the bars, would you narrow them a little more, or go a different style?
It really depends on the rider but narrowing them wouldn't be a bad idea
I actually lije the stock bars on the Fat Bob a lot. I may go with a slightly narrower bar that is a bit lower.
Love mine for sure..
Its one of the best bikes on the market now!
Oil cooler?
Yes, this bike does have an oil cooler
You are making, "riding it much harder than it was designed for", it look easy dude
Totally! John is a great rider!
Haha, it idles at 800 to 900 not 8000! But otherwise, great review. It was the best "in the helmet" review I've watched. Do more Harleys!
😂 You're right I think 8000 is a little off! Make sure to stay tuned for our review of the Electra Glide coming out soon!
I must try this bike
What can I say... You're trully equipped for an Apocaliptic Harley review...

Get yourself a matching set of riding gear please
I love my Fatbob and my Vrod and my Blackbird too.🤣
Mulholland hwy?
Yep, always a great road to film a review on!
How tall are you?
At 5'8 I'd go back to mids and something like Z bars.
That's the great part about this bike you can totally customize for your needs!
Great commentary
I know you mean Vance and Hines @ 3am!!!!!! lol
Hp and trq to the rear wheel?
It has 94 HP and 114 lb ft of torque

listening to your voice over the bumps, that suspension doesn't seem too comfy.
It's not the most comfortable however it definitely isn't terrible
A couple of those roads are like washboards...
Wish I lived in California .. great weather there unlike the UK
I like this bike a lot but I can’t see getting this for $20k over a retro Japanese naked like a XSR900 or z900rs which are over $10k less.
