Love how Eric recognizes the subtle nuance in the show, like his comment on the title,"Two Swords," actually being Ice and Needle; One Stark sword taken away & one reclaimed. I'd never thought about it, but that's brilliant.

Detective Calvin never ceases to amaze me
Season 4 probably has most of my favorite lines of dialogue of any season of Game of Thrones. Just for the Arya and Sandor moment at the end of S4E01, it is my absolute favorite opening episode of any of the seasons. Also, I am so happy to see Calvin laughing and smiling after the devastation of last seasons ending. I felt so bad for him. You guys are awesome!
Season 2 is my fave. I think it had all the best Tyrion lines him being hand of the king and all (The Janos Slynt Scene, the maester pycell scene, the speech at Blackwater Bay) It was definitely tyrions best season.

The hounds fighting style is so badass. The way he blocks with his sword then left hooks the fuck out of people is such good choreography
I believe it also shows how he doesn't care about any kind of "honor" or tradition in swordsmanship. He fights with only one rule: kill or be killed. Only pansy lords care about honor.

I just love how when Arya starts fighting alongside the Hound, the music changes with her. You can just feel her going slightly twisted and really start going down her new path.

Tywin is so badass. That cold opening was one of the best I've seen, and it just shows how fecking awesome Tywin is... or was... RIP.

Yeah, this was the best season of Game of Thrones.
Next episode there's my favorite scene ! I'm not talking about Joffrey but about the discussion between Tywin, Cersei, Oberyn and Ellaria. I like that it seems to be a fairly polite discussion when it's actually so tense and full of innuendos.
This is my favourite season thus far, SOOOOO many good moments throughout, from episode one to nine.
I'm glad to see Calvin happier this up soon and looking on the brighter side of things. Keep up the great work love your reviews/reactions

I love how excited Calvin is about the maps haha. It was the exact same with me back then when I was still discovering the world etc.

With hindsight it looks like they were saying Barristan died shortly after they wrote that honest trailer.
But it must have been a coincidence, he died in 2015, and this was wrote and uploaded in 2013.

Does Calvin plan on reading the books when he's caught up or when the show is over? If not then definitely recommend him to, and tell him how different the books and the show are sometimes, then he can discover Lady Stoneheart and Young Griff etc. without knowing about them.

Calvin clipping his phone to his belt doesn't really surprise me. It seems like something he'd do.
One of my personal favorite fight scenes in the series is the tavern scene with The Hound and Arya. Plus I love the dialogue of The Hound bargaining with the guy about how many chickens he wants. Lol And just the pure strength of him in those fights...that punch got me too. One of the most vicious punches ever along with that growl.

I always thought that the 2 swords were aria and the hound, they have two different characteristics, the hound is big sharp and ready to mess stuff up. while aria is like needle, doesn't look intimidating, but using her quick, calculated strikes and wits to deceive her enemies, during every confrontation.
I wonder if I hadn't read the books if I would have seen coming what Oberyn did in this episode.

This is the problem with the GOT fanbase. A little girl becoming psychotic killing hundreds of people. Badass, huh? This is why book readers hate you so much.
logandh2 Nah, the show writers and show fanboys think it’s so cool that this little girl is killing people in cold blood and being happy about it. In the books this is portrayed as something dark, something terrible. This little girl (who mind you, starts of at age NINE) has gone through such terrible drama that she is willing to kill people. She descends farther and farther into madness and it’s really sad. The Arya in the show is portrayed as a cold blooded killer too, but in the show that’s cool and edgy. Everyone else in the show are portrayed as bad for killing each other, but Arya? No, she’s cool. This is why the books are much better, and why the core comment of this discussion is right.
It’s a tragedy. Well, at least in the books.
I see it as a harsh world, and a girl being forged to be one of the strongest blades in it.
In our world I would absolutely agree that it is a horrific thing for a child to do, and it is terrible that she experienced it.
However, given the context of a time when boys were leading armies at 16 years old, babies are smashed against rocks because of who their father was, and an army of the dead who will kill every living person given the chance..
Well, I'm reminded of that point by Eowyn from lord of the rings, that just because a woman doesn't wield a sword doesn't mean she won't die by one..
This child has been forged and tempered by this cruel reality into a blade that will not shatter when struck by another sword. And in that she is better off than most. Children adapt to the world in which they are raised, not the world their parents wish for them.
