Did Eric tear up during the Stannis scene with his daughter? I think he had a honest reaction knowing what is to come but also trying to keep Calvin from seeing/questioning him. Props to him for keeping it together.

Man, EVERY time Calvin talked about Stannis and Eric looked into the Camera with those knowing eyes, I cringed and groaned
During the convo between stannis and his daughter Eric was holding back the tears. Calvin noticed but he thought they were tears of joy. Oh how I will enjoy calvins reaction when he finds out how wrong he was. Moahahahahaha
+MasterfulPaladin I'm with you Masterful, at 15:45 when Calvin's talking about Stannis "rocking at it" as a father making his child feel loved, I thought Eric was going to lose it! I groaned out loud. Poor trusting Calvin.

Then Ser Barristan once again talks about how great and peaceful of a guy Rhaegar was all the way to his death. You know, the type who would never kidnap and rape a woman.

While I don't think Rhaegar did, Barristan (just like everyone) has no idea the hidden evil Rhaegar is anyone in their lives is capable of. Plenty of people wake up and realize they were sleeping next to a murderer or a cheater but they thought they were the greatest person before the truth was revealed.
Thanks for leaving in so much of the Stannis/Shireen scene. It's so awesome and one of my favorite of the series.

Eric, I gotta give you big kudos. I don't think I'd be able to get through a series watch-along with a new viewer and constantly resist the temptation to give away too much. You, however, have a terrific poker face, and the questions you throw at Detective Calvin are great -- thought-provoking, but not suggestive. It's fine line, and you walk it well. You'd be a slick interrogator.

Please don't give Calvin any proper hints or anything like that about R + L = J, they will finally be revealing it this season with the Tower of Joy flashback, and seeing the reaction of someone who is literally just finding it out for the first time could be so interesting!

Can you truly say it is awesome when watching the scenes with the Sand Snakes? If you can even then, then you have a different idea of what good acting/writing is than I do...but hey, to each their own.
+bromixsr Eh, few bad scenes doesn't ruin a whole season. Seriously, people have really overreacted to the Sand Snakes, they were such a small part of the season.
season 5 was still better than any season that the Walking dead has produced.
You can try and direct Calvin's attention to the scene next week. The one where Maester Aemon is talking to Sam about a Targaryen being alone in the world, and then it rack focuses to Jon standing in the background. Do you think that would be pushing it?

+Casey Greene I know right? When Jon Snow died, facebook, twitter and everything on the internet literally exploded...people who never even heard of Game of Thrones found out that a dude called Jon Snow died....unless Calvin lives in a cave I am not sure how he could have avoided all that
He has said that he avoids all sources of spoilers such as FB, Tumblr, and RUclips (outside of Blind Waves own RUclips efforts). It is possible to avoid it, especially if most of your friends know you are trying to remain unspoiled and try and keep you away from anything that could ruin it. I didn't know Jon died until 2-3months later, and I wasn't even trying to avoid spoilers. I think the 'internet exploding' thing just depends on how you use the net and such forth, it is a great big beast, the internet, and easy enough to navigate if you want to put in the work. (Yes I know, long reply to a very old comment).
I just started watching GoT and unfortunately knew about him dying, and then the massive advertisement for season 6 and seeing Jon snow annoys me as it spoils it. Atleast for season 7 I'll be watching it with everyone else though
Game of Thrones spoilers have yet to get anywhere near "Han Solo dies" heights, fortunately.

Today on Raging Throners: No mercy from Cersei as she sicks sparrows to spank skanks, shackle sinful septs and sword swallowing sexmen. Hell-it’s-Sandra’s mammories melts Lord Snow lord with fire and desire as Stannis the Mannis comes clean with Shireen in a serene scene. Jaime plays in the Sand and gives Bronn a hand, as the Sand Snakes slither and stir. The Bear and the Imp are off in their crimped ship, and Mother-Mhysa discerns her distasteful disliking of inciting Ultimate Fighting as rawdy Harpies appear with sharpies. R.I.P. Sir Barristan, best swordsmen in the Seven Kingdoms…

Thank-you for pointing how unrealistic it would have been for Barristan to do any better than he did in the fight. When that episode aired, everybody was pissed off that Barristan didn't fight better, and they were complaining that the Unsullied seem "weak" because they got killed by the Harpies. But the show is being realistic: If you are OUTNUMBERED, you're at a disadvantage, no matter how good you are. Barristan is not in his prime anymore. And Grey Worm DID win the fight.
People were just unhappy that Barristan died, and were looking for ways to rationalize their anger, when the only reason they actually had was "It's not like the books."
No, the reason we are angry is because they killed off the best swordfighter in Westeros in a fucking alleyway by thugs who haven't held a sword before. Yeah, great fucking writing, let's congratulate the absolute masterminds that are Dan & fucking Dave, killing off characters for no good reason since Season 5.

I'm watching the show for the first time, and watching your reactions after each episode! I laughed so hard at the Little Finger doll in front of Calvin in this video. I don't know if it's been featured before. Little Finger is such an effing creep!!
I like that Jon sitting on the throne and all the stuff about Rhaegar, I just cant believe Calvin did not get it, lol

+Blind Wave I think Martin himself said that people were putting major theories together after the first book, which worried him in a "did I make it too obvious?" way. But those were the books. I don't think anyone who is show-only could put it together without being helped along.
+Blind Wave I totally agree. I first heard about the R+L=J at around season 4, and it was from the Honest Trailer, just like Calvin. So I decided to look it up, and once I saw this episode, the clues definitely jumped out at me, but I already knew the theory. I wouldn't expect anyone who doesn't know the theory to pick up on this, no matter how good of a detective they were.
+Blind Wave Actually I would like if you would ask him again to just brainstorm which names R, L and J possibly could mean. I think he just didnt think of thinking about "brute force" the theory :p That wouldnt spoil anything and get him a bit along maybe.
+Blind Wave If Detective Calvin doesn't figure it out, are you going to bring it to his attention? Because, to be honest, I wouldn't. We now know we're getting a Tower of Joy flashback next season, and one of my favorite things about these reactions is Detective Calvin at work. And imagine Calvin's shock when he figures it out on his own.
+Blind Wave if you just base it on the show, then there is no way anyone can find out about the theory because the show eliminated the most impo clue we got in the book which was "Lyanna was lying in a bed of blood" and telling Ned to promise her something. Personally, I figured out that Jon wasnt his son right from that scene. The show has left out this huge clue so that even if people know Lyanna wasnt kidnapped, they still wouldnt figure out her relationship to Jon
That one thing that Jorah said about taking Tyrion to Cercei becomes a lot more interesting if you consider the theory related to R + L = J.
I remember when this season first came out and the first 4 episodes got leaked all at once. Never mind a week I had to wait a full month to find out what happened with that cliffhanger! xD

damn this was the episode for me that made Jon Snow's parentage click for me. I was really hoping Calvin would remember hearing R+L=J and that it would finally click for him. Oh well I guess he'll have to wait until that tower of joy scene in season 6.

Barristan kept his oath to defend the Mad King even when the King was going to burn the people. "Honorable" to a fault. Rhaegar was nice and honorable around Barristan. Most people Barristan knows also know Rhaegar the Honorable Prince. That is all Barristan knows. That's all anyone knows when judging someone.
Curious are you guys gonna do the last 3 episodes the same weekend of just end it doing the final episode and maybe some type of overall review.
In fact it was Jon Arryn who started the rebellion. After mad king burned Ned's father and brother he knew that this might come back to him so he decided to kill anyone who might be angry so he sent letter and demanded Jon Arryn to give him Eddard and Robert but he saw them like his sons so he raised his banners in rebellion. But after they had decided that should they win Robert would be king so it was called his rebellion.
I don't know how Calvin has avoided any spoilers. If he's on any social media he must have seen something

Westeros knights are used to fighting in full armor, so all those back stabs would have normally been deflected. The Unsullied get critiqued unfairly. They are armed and trained for fighting in formations, not crowd control, not policing. Spears, shields, and leather armor are not ideal for fighting in an ally, street, or house. They should switch to swords and larger shields.
I'm glad someone cries as much as I do when I watch this show! haha. In the books The Unsullied have spear & short sword. It kind of bothered me that they had spears in such a confined area. These guys were trained from childhood to fight.........they would've had their swords on them, if not they wouldn't of went into that area to be trapped!! Anyways. Barristan is on of my favorite characters. I know he's in his 60's, & took like 8 of those dudes out, but I hope GRRM has a much more glorious death in the books!!!

Calvin just lost his credentials as a detective after missing R+L=J when it was right in front of his face..
If he hasn't started theorizing by next episode I think you should help him out a little bit. Not give away the whole thing but just give a little hint. For instance you could tell him what one of the letters stand for like "The R stands for Rhaegar" and then just leave it at that

Robert's Rebellion was the end result of the mad king burning folks, R and L fell in love and ran off, her father and older brother went to the mad King for justice. He killed them. Then he demanded that Ned and Robert's guardian, Lord Arryn come to King's Landing which would had ended in three more burnings. The leaders of three Kingdoms said no thank you and rebelled.
