- Here's a way to build a great wooden miter saw stand that you can use for countless other tasks, too. Download the Sketchup Drawing for this stand, and the PDF instructions from here: www.thisiscarpentry.com/2021/...
For some great ideas on making your own extension wings, don't miss Carpenter One3 on RUclips or IG: / @carpenterone3
And some really tight step-by-step instruction on miter saw wings from Spenser Lewis on his RUclips channel and IG: Insider Carpentry: In: ruclips.net/user/results?searc...
*Remember that this saw needs to have adjustments made to make 0 or 90 cuts accurately **MyBest.Tools** I had to use a right angle on the deck and blade and then adjust the bolt to get the correct reading. Once this is done, it works great.*
All is right in the world when you get a THISisCarpentry video. Thanks
Well-said! I was thinking the same thing!
Distractions are everywhere, especially the internet; but videos like this make it so worth it!! Thanks Gary.
NEED THE EXTENSION WING PLAN. pretty please
Fantastic video Gary !!
I enjoyed working on this with you. For those that are going to make one, do not hesitate. Gary has done US a world of favors with the detail. Follow his prints and assembly directions and you will have a great table. WARNING: everyone who sees it will want you to make on for them.

Great build. Thanks for sharing. Love the road trip you are doing. When you get back maybe we could see a build on the extension wings.
Thank you for the bending hinges video. Big help for me yesterday. Comments were turned off in that video, so I’m leaving my comment here.
Gary, thank you for making this video and the plans. I made a stand out of some scraps i had laying around and I have to say, its a great lightweight set up. I'll be building wings this weekend loosely based on you, Spencer, Ron Paulk and Chicago carpenters designs. I can't wait to use them on the job, I agree a miter saw is pretty much worthless without a good stand/wings.
Cool design. You mentioned Spenser Lewis, I love watching his channel as well as yours. I feel Spenser is the younger version of Gary Katz. You both are very knowledgeable in trim carpentry. Thanks for all you do to teach others the tricks of trade.
Looks great Gary. I’m lookin forward to seeing your wings. I need to rebuild mine. Mine are way too heavy as I have them currently.
Good to see you. I've been using one of these for years as a work table. installing cabinets , small projects... when the top gets beat up ,swop it out for a new one. scrap of course.
Great to see you back! I hope the fishing was good :)
You explain things well. I appreciate people who can do that. Thanks for a great video.
Thanks Gary. So glad to see you posting again. Hope you been enjoying the Sprinter.
This is definitely something I am looking for. I don’t need job site portability but I just don’t have space for permanent set up of tools since downsizing. This and those wings just might be the ticket.
I’m looking forward to the extension wing video. Any clue when you’ll get around to it Gary?
Another great job Gary! Thanks for keeping us on our toes.
As soon as you said you were putting a couple links videos of extension wings those two were the first two to pop in my head. They are very talented and informative guys. Great video on a simple setup!
Oh jeeez, and I forgot the links. I'll put them in the description now. And figure out how to make cards for them later! :)
Just built your miter saw stand. Turned out great. Great information equals great results! Looking forward to your video on building matching extension wings. Thanks
brilliant Gary, thanks! I can't wait for the video on wings.
For those times I don't need my pts..
Once I get my work station back home from the job this is on the agenda.
Appreciate your videos very much. You are a great teacher!
I just love making things from wood and I will make one of your mitre saw tables , thank you for showing your video
That’s awesome Gary !
I will definitely be making this! This is a great little project!
Thanks for the video - great looking build.
Thank you so much! This is just what I needed right now.
These are really great!
As always, Nice, Nicely Done & Useful‼ I’ll be pulling down a copy of the sketchup file.
Thanks For Sharing!
Fabulous!!!
This is going on the "I have to build one of these" list. Awesome idea and great video thanks for the lesson. FBWW
Thanks for your information and video 📹 I appreciate you 🙏
Thank you for making this video. I have been wanting to make one of these for some time, but was a little intimidated by the angles and measurements.
I've been working on my design for one of these based on your Instagram post. Mine is a little different, but I'll post pictures and tag you when I start building. Thanks for the video!
New subscriber here. Just great man
Wow i might do this with steel tubing.
As much as I love this table design, I NEED to make the craftsman-style screen w dog door ;)
Ha hah! THat was a pretty crude design but it has held up very well. I glued two dowels into the top edge of opening. The top trim on the door is made from two pieces, pre-drilled with holes for the dowels, then sandwiched over those dowels, glued and screwed together. I'm kind of surprised it held up this long--almsot ten years. But my dog loves it.
Do you have any video on building a bottom base cabinet?
Why are the comments disabled on your older videos like the quarter quarter draw system? Those videos are so good and I love reading the comment sections!
Very nice, thankyou. I have the Makita version, also nice but weighs a ton. As time allows, I will upgrade to your version. My use is for a job site tables saw. Any thoughts on an outfeed table?
I've always used a Rousseau stand for my table saw, and made an outfeed table for that stand that hooks over the stand and has two legs. Pretty sturdy. I liked the Rousseau table becuase I can mount a router in the side tables, and the extra length and width on the rip fence. Sure makes cutting sheet material on a jobsite safer and more fun.
great video. Can you please add the links for the other extension wing videos? Thnx
Haven't shot the video of the extension wings yet! Patience! I"m old and slow.
18:18 I guess you never made the next video?
what is the name and link to the vest tool holder you are wearing?
Atlas 46 tool vest.
I got all excited about fixing a door that was wonky on it’s hinges after I saw your nice video.
I did as directed by gently trying to spread the bottom hinge.
It snapped.
You might want to include a warning that antique cast iron hinges on old hundred and twenty year old Victorians do not bend, they break.
Oh well, I’m not mad, just saying you might want to warn people.
