Super easy $20 miter saw stand!

- I needed a stand that worked for me. I could not justify spending $200.00 on on one of those folding stands that pack up well but don't support more than one piece of material at a time. And no little table to set a couple of tools on.
This really works for production. The 4 supports work great for various lengths without having to keep moving them. I use the support to the right of the saw to clamp and cope. And I'll set the supports to a specific length with a stop block for repeated length cuts.
A couple of pony clamps on the legs hold 5 or 6 pieces of base or case at a time to lessen the trips to the wood pile.
Next I'll build an assembly table, but you dont always have that much room to work.
I hope you enjoy this very amateur video.
God bless!
Here's more explanation of the blocks that support the saw.
3 2x4s. Each side.
First one cut 3 inches longer than the depth of your base plate of the saw. You'll use this one to screw your saw dow onto.
2 &3 2x4s cut approx 6 inches. These go underneath. With the long 2x4 facing away from you, mark the center perpendicular to the board.
Set a scrap short pc. 2x4 centered on that line. This will give you the spacing of the main support beam.
Now fasten board #2 above the scrap and to left. Set #3 board below the scrap to the right.
Repeat a mirror image for the other side.
Center these on your main beam the width of your saw.
Set the saw onto these and screw it down.
Use the shims ( front or back) to take out the WOBBLE & level the saw.
Hope this helps until a make another video.
Out of all the stands I've looked at YOUR'S is the best, so super simple it ain't funny not over engineered it just works.
You can cut the long 2x6 board in equal halves and add a "strong" hinge to connect two ends so you can fold it in half and store it easily if you don't have room for a long board.
Do you mean a butt hinge?
Thank you so much!
I just made it per your video! Works awesome!!
Thanks again!.
very cool. sooper easy to throw on the back of the truck, set up in a driveway, bam! cutting in less than 10. very cool.

I really like the simplicity and the fact that it would take no pace up in the van at al the comerial one are exspencive don't offer alot of suport and are awkward in the vam
This is the kind of video I love! not a lot of boring chit-chat. Just the facts.
Very good idea! 👍👍👍
Love the design and the simplicity of this miter saw stand! This is the one I am going to build. Thanks!!!!
Been turning in my head to built a station like this .I thought I'll check you tube first .and here you are ! 😅
wow, thats clever. very nice.
The best mobile miter stand ive seen yet. Will prob give this a go.
2016: Awsome
2021: Too expensive 😂
Now I can get my miter saw off of my 4 x 4 work table and use it as a table and also have the flexibility of moving my miter saw to wherever I need it. Thanks for the useful idea!!
Bob; Thanks for the upload. Great video and idea! It's these small "tricks of the trade" that make woodworking/carpentry/trades so appealing. Thanks and God Bless!
Thanks for your comments!
I think it's well worth the extra minute set up time compared to the pricey jobs.
Notice at 1:52, I push a couple shims between the saw support 2x4's and the main 2x6 to tighten up the assembly.
Bob K. I was wondering about that bit. Thanks.
Well done Bob.... very clever and well thought out! Keep em coming !
Built One today thanks for the idea also built a mount for my table saw.
Elegant in its simplicity and superb in function! I just brought all the stuff in my truck and of course I first need to use the chopsaw on my tailgate in order to make a workstand. After that I'm off to the races. I used a 2x6x10 so it don't hang out the truck so far. This will be an excellent tool for an upcoming job. Thank Bob!
OUTSTANDING!!! maybe an addition... the staggered saw base 2x4's... on the front there only... add a 2x4 between the two... a couple of "C" clamps between added 2X4 and 2X6... Rocking motion eliminated at that connection... a couple "L" fences could be made(3/4 ply at 4") and clamped to 2X4 "riser"... "stop blocks" and your off the the races
Thanks so much for the vid!!!
All good ideas. I shove a couple of cedar shims (one on either side) between the beam and the 2x4 saw supports to eliminate the wobble. This isn't my only bench but it works great in tight spaces and can be left outside.
Great suggestions! Right now, everything fits into a 30 gal garbage can, keeping it very mobile. The shims keep it from rocking.
4 years later and I like the video! Good music and a simple but useful instruction
Wow. It's been awhile for sure. YT only pays for 10 minute videos. I don't like long videos myself and long videos take time away from work. Appreciate the interest. Hopefully I'll get the time to get back into it
Hope you can and thanks again!👍🏻👍🏻
I needed an idea to setup my Mitre Saw for a job away from my shop - something temporary but strong. Your design is simple, strong and inexpensive. I am having trouble getting those brackets in Australia but even so I love you design. Thanks. And God bless you too.
So far the, the best, cheapest, easiest miter saw stand!!!! 👍🏻
Thank you !
AWESOME Stand 👍 I just wished I would have seen this video 5 days ago, it would have saved me $179.00! Because I just spent $199.00 on a Miter Stand from Home Depot 4 days ago, and your $20.00 stand is by far, much better 👍 Keep up the Good work 👍 God Bless
Still have the receipt. Take it back to home depot and they will gladly refund you money.(but it been a year now maybe not)
Going on year 2 with this set up. Stained all the wood supports. I use it daily. It looks awesome. Nothing comes close to this set up.
What length boards do you cut on it? 12/16ft? Or smaller?
I don't have the space to a dedicated miter saw work station and your solution is brilliant, thanks for sharing!
So simple yet so clever, good job
The genius is in its simplicity. Well done.
Cool concept!
JUST BUILT ONE WITH PLYWOOD FOR SAW TABLE AND I DOUBLE BLOCKED UNDER NEATH. I USED STEEL TROJAN SAW HORSE I HAD AND IT WORKS GREAT. THANK YOU FOR THE IDEA!
AWSOME! You're very welcome
Best home made; inexpensive and easy to move miter saw stand on RUclips, hands down! I look forward to building mine Bob. Creative minds at work, thanks..
+m3mikec AND THANK YOU for your comments!
Glad i could be of service.
I just made a replica of your miter saw stand, and I know I am going to like it very much, thank you for the video.
John Pepau / you're very welcome. have you subbed yet?
This is great! I just bought my first miter saw and was thinking about picking up one of those pricey folding stands for it, but really after seeing this I'll totally being doing the same thing. Cheap, efficient, and as someone already said ingenious. Subbed and will wait to see what else you have in store. Thanks!
Great job.
superb, simple and very effective, thanks for the great video
Winner for brevity yet useful. Well done
Excellent idea. Simple and effective.
God bless you too. Thanks for sharing your idea.
This is brilliantly simple. Currently I just move my miter saw off of my work table when I need to use it for an assembly or hand-tool bench and put it back when I need to cut things. Was considering buying one of the folding stands from a big box store but this is so much easier and will take up way less room in my small garage shop when I need to put it away. Thanks for sharing!
***** I built one this weekend and it works very well! I only needed it for my small garage shop so I could put it up while working and tear it down to save space when I'm not needing it. _plus.google.com/photos/..._
Thanks Bob for the great idea I built mine for $17
Very nice sir. Just what I need for a job I'm doing this weekend. Thanks!
This looks like the bomb, great idea.i have tried a few different things and they never looked like this.I will be doing one tomorrow.Thank you
Life saver !
Thank you. Very simple. This will actually do very well in my new shop area. 🎉
Ingenious! I love it !

This looks so much better than the aluminum one that comes with it. Thank you.
Simple and smart. . .nice job
Great idea! I was looking for inspiration on YT and I have found it. I am going to make a similar one. Thanks for sharing! Keep it going!

Very nice. I've seen very elaborate diy stations but never seem to have the time / money to invest. This is a great solution!

Was thinking about a table set up and this is awesome. Casters can be added with some 2X4 for mobile transport on the job and in the shop. Will be making this soon with all the spare wood that I have. Great project.
Thank you! Ron Paulk has his new 2nd Gen table videos out!

+CAM. Sweet! It's cool to know that other guys are benefitting from my videos. Thanks for the feedback!
Bob you rock. I was thinking of buying a stand but everything in your video I have laying around. Oh I may buy a couple of C-clamps, just because ;)
I love this video!
+jason fuller / thanks Jason. You are awesome!
Me gusto. Exelente trabajo. Espero hacer el mio
I am so doing this! thank You
And no annoying teeny bopper teenager hippy hoppy music! Lol Thanks.
Awesome. This will surely be an improvement over my "knees on the floor". Thanks for sharing. :-)
+crpth1/ check out my version of the Paulk total station. That takes like 3 days to build but it's worth it.
Thanks
Very good
I made a set-up like yours!
People have complimented it and I always
give credit to Bob on RUclips for the design.
Mine cost less than $10 for the sawhorse brackets.
I already had everything else.
Thanks for the design and the inspiration!
I don't know where you are, but it looks like Boise.
NICE! Thanks for the feedback.
Excellent - THANKS!
Looking for some decent sawhorse brackets now (hard to find anything except light duty so far - want these to last).
i need to make an extension for an old drafting board, to make a dining table. i think i will try to adapt your idea to try to make it work. Thank You!!
Good shit, Bob! Thanks.
Very nice
Super! enjoy.
So I built this yesterday. Thank you!! It’s gonna save me a lot of frustration. My old set up was a table I got from HD and some roller stands which “worked” but constantly adjusting.
The difference with the one I made is that I added an power strip for my jigsaw, other tools etc. Also made wings instead of the individual 2x4 supports. That gives me about 5’ on each side of the saw for support any thing longer will be supported with my rollers.
I want to add a table saw support and outfeed. Loosely based on the Paulk station. Which I bought plans for but... a lot of time to build
Very cool stuff man. Thanks again. Very simple but very effective.
Now on to job site dust control!
+james leal / I've also built the PTS -XL. Have you seen my video on that?
Took me 24 hours and I'm still not 100% complete.
Next time i build it, I'm going to flip the table saw to the opposite side. You get squeezed between the wing and your material.
Thanks for your comments!
Bob K. I have not seen that. I will check it out fo sho
love it, Subbed!
I don't want to call this brilliant because I'd hate for you to get a swelled head but it sure is damned clever. I'm totally ripping this off. Thanks for sharing and God bless.
Cool. You're going to love it.
Build the supports longer, say 16 inches, centered over the beam. This will give you extra room behind the fence to park materials that need another cut.
also add a little bumper to stop material from falling off the back.
thanks for the feedback!
thanks for posting this video, just the sort of thing I'm looking for. I'll definitely give it a go. Don't think we can get those brackets in the UK, thought I might try a couple of plastic saw horses instead.
good job
+Charles Parks / thanks! Check out my other videos for more great time saving ideas.
I love what i do and sharing with others
gracias amigo!
I just made something similar out of plywood based on your design! Thank you!
It's 11 months later and I am commenting on my own comment.
Thanks for your comments! And you're WELCOME
GOOD VIDEO
just got a Used Ridgid R4221and thinking about a Stand
Bob, I'd like to make exactly what you have. Do you have a drawing with dimensions of how you made the saw base, and the material supports? I could try it on my own, but that would really help me.
I usually overlook something in the process! Thanks.
We get wood pallets at work. I have several 2x4s, so I only need brackets. I have screws.
I was thinking, PVC would make good rollers.
