Teddy was an adorable dustmop before his groom and an even more adorable gent afterwards. Major kudos to his people for giving this anxious boy a family to love. He looks like such a sweetheart.
Teddy is absolutely adorable. My guess the reason he does not get "anxious" while blow drying, etc. in the grooming salon is because he trusts you. He is a gem.
More than likely, he's not getting the affirmation he gets for the behavior there. Usually, when they learn to self soothe, they do better on the long run.
Well THAT, and I suspect a very strong bond with the matriarch of that family; Teddy instinctively does everything possible to please "mom"..."When mom's not happy, NO ONE is happy..." An old neighbor had a Yorkie male like that; He would pout/stomp, and sigh all over the house until she wasn't mad anymore; "I didn't mean it mom; I SWEAR..." It was HILARIOUS to watch him!!!
Love waching u making it look so easy, which l no it isn't my cocker spaniel is good with grooming but also hates having her claws clipped ,butsome times it a long time getting a appointment ,dog groomers are always so busy, love
I just want to thank you for specifying that he was "unfriendly" about his feet, rather than calling him something like a "bad dog" and acknowledging his wonky legs as being a potential reason. I always worry that my girl and I (by extension) are being harshly judged when she reacts to things. I appreciate seeing there are still compassionate people in the world 💜
@@germywI work in vetmed. At the previous clinic I worked at, a tech said one of the dogs was a bad dog because he was growling and tried to bite someone. The poor dog was there for his neuter, so he hadn't had breakfast, he was in an unfamiliar place without his human, and people he didn't know were grabbing him and poking him with needles. If a dog reacts negatively in a stressful, high-anxiety environment, they're not a bad dog, they're just a dog. Dogs also know when they're being called a bad dog if the owner uses the phrase at home. Dogs learn to associate words and phrases with actions; that's why they can *sit*, *down*, *come*, when asked. The tone of which some words are spoken (*yes*, *no*, *good*, *bad*) also indicate to the dog if they should or shouldn't continue their behaviors.
I only judge when someone has not brought their dog in for 6 months the nails are overgrown and the owners are nonchalant like obviously your dog is aggressive cause you didn’t care enough in the beginning to desensitize
Agreed. She's also open to taking the ones with behaviours which challenge other groomers, and does everything she can to make it work. I find that really impressive!
@@ilia2178 how did you get that price though ? that seems very extreme and she said in another recent video for a big bernese mountain she charged 200 $ for 3 hours !
As a human who isn't a big fan of fireworks, I wonder if the reason the noises in the salon don't bother him is because they're predictable noises - now he knows they aren't dangerous, and the noise is the same every time. But fireworks and thunderstorms are both highly unpredictable loud noises, so he can't get used to it the same way.
My last PoMeranian was what my Vet called her a "Protector" and if her humans were around she was very scared of thunder and fireworks BUT if she was not in her usual atmosphere or she wasn't around ME then she was calmer. She definitely 'fed off' of MY emotions/anxiety... as I don't like Thunder/lightening or LOUD bang fireworks either. So when we were together during THOSE times we each were the other's emotional support. I miss her terribly as she passed away in 2021 so I ADORE seeing Vanessa's Merle Pomeranian, GIDGET aka "SMIDGE" in video's bc she reminds me of my Merle PoM.
Teddy went through a lot while he was really young. I’m so glad he made it to a safe, loving home. He is absolutely adorable and I hope that he grows out of his anxiety about his nails and feet. If not, he’s got a great groomer who knows what to do.
This reminds me of our Sully! When he was a puppers he looked like a small pitty. When he started to grow he got in all this wirey schnauzer hair! When he reached his adult weight of 50 pounds, he looked like a shrunken Irish Wolfe Hound! He was the world's cutest pup! I miss him so much! Love you Sully Boy!
I can’t believe what horrors/trauma this dog went through to have such a reaction to loud noises where he climbs on to a human’s head and has to medicated daily. My heart breaks. Thank you, Girl With Dogs, for treating him so kindly and doing what you do for our animal friends! I hope Teddy continues to heal with his family and good people
I mean, it's not necessarily a result of abuse or trauma, I've got a bearded collie who has been spoiled absolutely ROTTEN her entire life and she also needs anxiety meds and has a very big problem with boom. She's also the only dog I've met who sees a squirrel on a walk and wants to go home. I can assure you, she was abused not at all. Just cannot stand anything boom related. Also has an unhealthy fear of certain things that move, certain things that don't move, smells, me after a haircut, boxes being opened, etc. Sometimes they're just a little loco. She also attempts to scale her humans when she's frightened. Typically more funny than painful.
If it's any consolation, I had my last dog from puppy hood and he was this way, probably from me spoiling him like a human rather than treating him like a dog to give him confidence
We adopted a dog recently that was incredibly spoiled and pampered and babied at her original home. They had her since she was a puppy and treated her very well. She has so many problems that were caused by too much babying that are disappearing quickly now that we have her and give her space to self-soothe. She was so terrified of even a gentle rain that she would hide under blankets in the bedroom or stand in a closet with no windows. She would be so insistent on hiding that she would break things to get to a hiding place. We removed all access to her hiding places and would give her treats for just laying on the sofa while it was raining and, like magic, she is fine with rain now. She has quite a few examples of this in her behavior, things that her previous owners babied and coddled her over, that are/were not good for her mental health. Since we got her and she has been learning that she will not get that treatment here, she has really come out of her shell and even her capacity for learning has vastly improved. I find that it is rarely abuse that leads to neurotic behavior, but rather too much "love" from their people. It is not love to keep them from learning how to be mentally strong.
@@keenbtf While I don't doubt that Abby's phobias could be resolved with some serious effort on our part, my hands are kinda tied. On the one hand, she's not my dog, I just live with her. On the other hand, she doesn't just hide, she'll try and flee from whatever's spooked her and leave a nice smelly trail of fear pee behind her. I think her personal best is starting in the basement, beginning the stream, making it up two flights of stairs, down a hallway, through a closed door, and into the bathtub. She's got a happy hoody and a thunder shirt and that usually means she just lays on a couch and shivers.
Yes, I am thinking he's got to have some schnauzer and perhaps even some Irish wolf hound in him. His front legs being bowed like that might be of some concern down the line though. I wonder if they have talked to his vet about this (probably, but just curious).
Yes! I said the same thing when he was finished...I LOVE Schnauzers! 🐕 His cute little legs and body profile gives it away. Also, I see a little bit of Wheaton Terrier, perhaps? Such a sweetheart pup!
What an adorable handsome pupper. As someone who deals with PTSD I appreciate the patience you've shown Teddy. Animals can't share their survival stories so to have empathy for each wounded soul is a true Blessing.💓 You do beautiful work with each of your fur baby clients!
I absolutely love these longer videos!! Thanks for making this channel for the nerdier dog lovers! 😁 Teddy was so cute before and after his groom! What a unique looking dog! ☺️
He has such cute colors. When you have his torso shaved and there's just this big FLOOF of a bedhead he was so adorable! He looks so dapper now, though.
I so appreciate his family working with the vet to help Teddy with his issues. So many dogs get put down for something like anxiety thinking they have a vicious nature or they want to be destructive when they are just scared little kids who need support and sometimes a little medication. 💙 Teddy is absolutely adorable.
Again, the care and knowhow you express for each and every animal you groom, just, warms my heart so much! The dogs and the cats, the good bois and the spicy ones. You're a wonderful groomer, and a wonderful person
What a fine fellow. Just a good ol' doggy dog. You both are worthy of safety during grooming time. It's grand that he trusts you enough to be mostly well-behaved.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who struggles with a dog getting his nails clipped. And I love how you tell what blades, combs and scissors you use and why. You're an awesome groomer!!!
He does look like a sweet sweet boy. I know that other animals can have babies with different daddy’s but I didn’t know a dog can do that too. You learn something everyday! Lol! You always do a great job!!!
its a cold and rainy day in NJ so 2 videos from my favorite RUclipsr/groomer, its like an early Christmas gift! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I have a large white German Sheppard and have learned so much about dogs by watching this channel!
Wow, he is such a good boy! You would never know he had anxiety issues. My pupper has extreme anxiety too. For the first two years I had her, we couldn't lean over to pet her because she would tremble in fear and pee herself, so I have a special place in my heart for rescues who suffer from memories of their past lives.
Wow night and day! I just can't resist those eyes how sweet is this little guy? He looks absolutely handsome and gorgeous. You did an excellent job. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕
He kinda looks like a Schnauzer. Kind of like the dog from Lady and the Tramp mixed with another type of dog. He's absolutely adorable! I feel so bad that he has to deal with such intense anxiety, I can relate to that on a human level, unfortunately, lol. It's no fun but I'm glad he was calm during grooming for the most part. 🙂
Teddy did amazingly and you're so gentle with him (and all your other clients): Darling Teddy, must have faced unimaginable terror during his time in Kazakhstan which of course would account for his tremendous fear of certain noises. Before the groom he looked a bit like a Briard ! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I tried really hard at one point to become a dog groomer, but nobody in my area would take me in to teach me, and I went through every avenue I could find at the time. Guess it was never in the cards for me, but I can enjoy your videos!
Awww Teddy looks so cute!! Thank you for showing these full groom versions, especially ones that are more challenging with nails being clipped. My pup hates getting his nails clipped and I might try the trick of holding the opposite paw.
What an adorable big boy! You did a fabulous job. I love his front paws…the way they turn out. Just the cutest! Thank you for helping to rescue dogs! ❤
I loved hearing his story and the information about dogs getting pregnant was fascinating. I think I love his front wonky legs the most. It gives him character and makes him so unique. Thank-you again for another incredible video and for all the work you do. ❤️
Another bilingual dog. Excellent! I had a beloved dog named Hoopie who looked a lot like Teddy in the face and was about the same size. We were told Hoopie was a Cocker Poodle Husky. Her hair was wavier and her tail was not floofy like Teddy’s. Teddy is a sweet, amiable dog. He has reason for his phobias. WLS: wonky leg syndrome. Yes, it’s a thing. 😜
i used to take care of a dog ones, she has the same legs: back legs are normal, front legs kind of longer than necessary. i called it “gentleman-gnome legs”. didn’t know it’s the syndrome. even a human can have it
I was waiting for SOMEONE to explain why his legs look like over-pronated Lion paws. 👀👀 wonky legs is at least an acknowledgement that they are there!!
Bassets get that leg/feet thing….I call my sisters dog ‘walrus feet’ lol he comes running when I visit and yell ‘where’s my walrus feet doggy at?’ Lol love him
Sweet boy! Do you think if he were somehow able to get a noise desensitization training he would do better with his anxiety? I think that’s what has helped him in your shop. You helped desensitize him so he felt safe and calm while getting groomed.
He's a whole different dog! You did such an amazing job on him and I'm sure he feels as good as he looks now. I love watching your videos so much. Thanks for sharing your skills with us! ❤❤🐶🐶
What a sweetheart 😍. Schnauzer, Greyhound, weiner dog, Bassett? His tail is a mystery. Lol! I've edited this post 4 times! I really enjoy your long format videos. What a transformation!
Oh my goodness 😆 When you were talking about how much hair blew out of his coat, he just looked like he was the naughtiest boy and was in so much trouble 😆😆😆
That dog is an exact clone of mine. Same color, everything. I think my dog is a Beger Picard. They are a herding dog from France. And yes, they do shed. On command.
Omg I have a rescue very similar to Teddy - only difference is my Lenny has black fur instead of grayish. The same exact brown mustache, same bangs, same tail, same same same. We were told in the shelter she is part Rottweiler part Poodle 😂But she is an absolute sweetheart, just like Teddy. Lots of love from our Rottweiler Doodle Lenny to your sweet Teddy. ❤️😊
I would wager that Teddy has witnessed ethnic pogroms in Kazakhstan--the timeline fits. Thunder and fireworks resemble gunfire; the blow-dryer does not. When he hears explosive sounds he tries to shield his people with his body, and I'll bet that his "aggressiveness" comes from believing that a battle's going on. I think the dog's got PTSD.
this is exactly what i was thinking. my heart breaks for anyone, human or otherwise, that has had to live through the atrocities that go on in a war zone💔
I've worked with dogs for over 35 years. For the 1st time I wouldn't even try to guess what breeds are in his makeup. It doesn't matter though, he is 100% adorable!

If I had to guess, I'd say MAYBE there's a little bit of Schnauzer in there somewhere, but that's it. Beyond that, I haven't the slightest clue.
@@jagoldenpyrenees491 His face does look Schnauzer like, now for the rest...

Teddy was an adorable dustmop before his groom and an even more adorable gent afterwards. Major kudos to his people for giving this anxious boy a family to love. He looks like such a sweetheart.
Hello Beth how are you doing today
Hello Corey how are you doing today
My first thought was he looked just like a real-life Tramp (from Lady and the Tramp) before his groom! What a cutie 💓
I would have never guessed that this adorable pup had anxiety issues, he behaved very well. What a cute little nugget ♥️
He was a calm statue during most of his cut. Hope he & his owners can find a way to help him further. His groom was perfectly done, as expected!!❤️👍😁
He's a cute BIG nugget 😁🥰
Such a nice job. I'd never trust myself with scissors around their ears!
Teddy is absolutely adorable. My guess the reason he does not get "anxious" while blow drying, etc. in the grooming salon is because he trusts you. He is a gem.
More than likely, he's not getting the affirmation he gets for the behavior there. Usually, when they learn to self soothe, they do better on the long run.
love @ 3:32 when hes like "yep you can come back now".
It's a predictable environment
Love waching u making it look so easy, which l no it isn't my cocker spaniel is good with grooming but also hates having her claws clipped ,butsome times it a long time getting a appointment ,dog groomers are always so busy, love
I just want to thank you for specifying that he was "unfriendly" about his feet, rather than calling him something like a "bad dog" and acknowledging his wonky legs as being a potential reason. I always worry that my girl and I (by extension) are being harshly judged when she reacts to things. I appreciate seeing there are still compassionate people in the world 💜
Who judges a dog and how would the doggy know this? 🤔
Perfection!
Adorable
He looked like such a big dog in the beginning but he’s a pretty small boy under all that hair lol what a cutie
I am definetly not surprised by the amount she charges for grooming. She's so incredibly gentle and patient with the pets, really top tier service.
How much does she charge?
Agreed. She's also open to taking the ones with behaviours which challenge other groomers, and does everything she can to make it work. I find that really impressive!
@@denverbasshead $800 per hour
@@ilia2178 Nice, she makes $$$ from her business and her youtube channel.
@@ilia2178 how did you get that price though ? that seems very extreme and she said in another recent video for a big bernese mountain she charged 200 $ for 3 hours !
Who else watches these lovely videos for falling a sleep ? So calming ❤
Definitely relaxing! I could watch her shave out paw pads all day long 🫠
Same
❤ yep I thoroughly enjoy getting relaxed and sleepy watching her amazing work
Yes!
That actually makes a lot of sense
I was going to write the same opinion...
He knows how long the noise is going to last, and that he can make it through.
My dog got so scared this year that I had to hide with him. 😔
My goodness, this dog is SO stinking cute. Those eyes are just so adorable. No matter what breeds are in him, he is so handsome.
I relate to this pup on a spiritual level. I, too, am terrified of loud noises and would bite someone for trying to trim my nails.
My heart skipped a beat when you said Sully. My family's Rottweiler had the same name, and technically his name on his paperwork was Sully Boy!
@@Willow_Sky THAT IS SO AWESOME! It's beautiful that you had a special Sully Boy too! 😊💯❤️
Cute doggie! I think he needs a happy hoodie during thunderstorms. He was SO calm with it on.
Typically has NOTHING to do with it. Some pups are just born that way.
The schnauzer came out strong when he was finished being groomed. Absolutely adorable 🥰. You did a fantastic job!
Yes, I am thinking he's got to have some schnauzer and perhaps even some Irish wolf hound in him. His front legs being bowed like that might be of some concern down the line though. I wonder if they have talked to his vet about this (probably, but just curious).
Yes! I love Schnauzers so much. We always had them when I was growing up.
I thought schnauzer right away
Yes! I said the same thing when he was finished...I LOVE Schnauzers! 🐕 His cute little legs and body profile gives it away. Also, I see a little bit of Wheaton Terrier, perhaps? Such a sweetheart pup!
He look like a standard version of my mini schnauzer. Color and all!! ❤❤
He looks amazing!!! So sad to hear Teddy’s back story. So many dogs are in need of help throughout the world. Thank you for your efforts.
Relative to his body, paws are HUGE. Love it!
He is just one of the cutest dogs I’ve ever seen… I especially love the bubble at 1:52 and the direct cut to him in his little happy hoodie at 5:09 😂😂
What an adorable handsome pupper. As someone who deals with PTSD I appreciate the patience you've shown Teddy. Animals can't share their survival stories so to have empathy for each wounded soul is a true Blessing.💓
You do beautiful work with each of your fur baby clients!

He has such cute colors. When you have his torso shaved and there's just this big FLOOF of a bedhead he was so adorable! He looks so dapper now, though.

The cut to the pup in the happy hoodie is always the funniest. I’m happy Teddy has the best caring owners and has the best care from his groomer ❤🐾.

I so appreciate his family working with the vet to help Teddy with his issues. So many dogs get put down for something like anxiety thinking they have a vicious nature or they want to be destructive when they are just scared little kids who need support and sometimes a little medication. 💙 Teddy is absolutely adorable.
Thanks for sharing this groom. I liked hearing Teddy's story and as usual, you did a great job.

One of the most amazing transformations I've seen on your channel. Teddy looks super cool, like a show dog.
Oh goodness! I just notice the duck feet during the blow dry. So stinking cute!
From a small Sasquatch to a Well Groomed Little Man. Transformation was terrific. You do have a touch with these dogs. Well Done.
Awww!!!!!! He's so cute. When he was getting blown out, he just stood there like 'I'm used to this by now. Not worried about it'
You did a fantastic job with Teddy! He looks so adorable afterwards.
Again, the care and knowhow you express for each and every animal you groom, just, warms my heart so much! The dogs and the cats, the good bois and the spicy ones. You're a wonderful groomer, and a wonderful person
Hello Kittie how are you doing today
I love how gentle you are with him, and how you tell him you're sorry you have to do his nails but knowing it's for his own good.
What a fine fellow. Just a good ol' doggy dog. You both are worthy of safety during grooming time. It's grand that he trusts you enough to be mostly well-behaved.
Aww, Teddy's finished product is perfect!! He is simply adorable!!
Oh those first few looks over his shoulder, "What's that? What are you doing? What's that noise? Oh that feels so good!" 🥰 So sweet.

His legs are a heart. Oh my heart.
We have a similar looking Teddy at my daycare but his coat is tan and his parents also describe him as an adorable mutt.

I never dreamed he would turn out so gorgeous.
I loved hearing his story and the information about dogs getting pregnant was fascinating. I think I love his front wonky legs the most. It gives him character and makes him so unique. Thank-you again for another incredible video and for all the work you do. ❤️

After grooming, when he stands, the space between his front legs form a heart. 💜
i used to take care of a dog ones, she has the same legs: back legs are normal, front legs kind of longer than necessary. i called it “gentleman-gnome legs”. didn’t know it’s the syndrome. even a human can have it
I just adopted a dog with wonky front legs. She has arthritis in one of the elbows, though. She doesn’t like her feet touched.
I was waiting for SOMEONE to explain why his legs look like over-pronated Lion paws. 👀👀 wonky legs is at least an acknowledgement that they are there!!
@@christinakasko2082 WLS: I was making a joke based on what the groomer said. It’s not really a thing. 😳

He’s adorable!! He’s so good!
Les propriétaires doivent tout faire pour que Teddy n'entende pas ces vilains bruits pour lui éviter de souffrir. Je sais moi-même de quoi je parle.
this is exactly what i was thinking. my heart breaks for anyone, human or otherwise, that has had to live through the atrocities that go on in a war zone💔
