    Brave man. He just said that he's 55 years old and just become aware this is an issue. Being as he is black, you would think he would have known sooner - or so I thought. But if it's not discussed, how would he know? How would anyone know? I suggest a new vocabulary. Telling a doctor that you are in pain or uncomfortable will get you nothing. That's what every woman tells him when she is in her first labor. So we need a new vocabulary. It's all obvious up to then, but I don't know what vocabulary will get them to think differently. They expect certain things from women in labor - so when it is your first labor - what can you say to make them treat you differently?

They seem to go on what they have heard in the past from patients and think it is the same, without actually listening. to the person. This has bugged me for a long, long time. They need to spend a little bit of time actively listening to all patients

      I am white, not from the UK, and they sent me home still having the suspicion of ectopic pregnancy. They just asked me to come back to the hospital after 4 days when it could have been too late. They told me to come back if the pain continues and I will get bleeding. Sadly, the doctors are just following a system that doesn't allow work the same for everybody and it's a shame that discrimination comes in all forms, shapes and colour.

      Because it is not possible they are?
      The average black person has smaller ears than the average white person.
      White people are more likely to be colour blind.
      Both of these are due to biology / genes.
      Why is it we can believe some characteristics are hereditary / biological. And may differ at a group level (could be men v women. Again e.g. colour blindness). But it's not acceptable to believe some other characterists are.

      There is a hidden underlining tone in how this occurred. Not listening to a patients concerns about how they feel. Why wouldn't you? Are you sure that Africans are as different as Caucasians? There are Africans possibly colorblind as well. Deaf too. The possibilities of the genetic structure of human beings are endless with its potential and possibilities. They way you all are talking about it seems almost as if you were dog breeders. So let's make it sound less humane why don't we? It needs to be investigated thoroughly.

    This isn't a race issue. What they are speaking of people of all races experience. Id say its more of a class issue where the Drs won't listen to the "plebs". Drs seems to think they are above listening to their patients and what the Dr say goes. This comes from someone who was nearly killed at a young age by a Dr not listening to my mother about my symptoms and sending me home. That night i took a turn for the worse and thankfully my mum rushed me to the hospital. If she had listened to that Drs advice and just gave me Calpol I'd not be here today. Another Dr also didn't listen to her about 10 years ago and sent her home with Pneumonia. This time nearly killing her.

    Yes it is an issue that needs looking at but to label it as inequality paints a perspective that there is some racial issue going on! How can that be so clear-cut when you do not know why this is the case?
    Seriously - you do a diservice in these liberal labelling without substantiating any evidence to back that up. It's akin to saying "Shocking reality of health inequality against men as they die earlier than women and clearly must be some form of discrimination"
    See how that perspective works.
    But seriously - you are saying the NHS is racist and discriminates in this and yet offer ZERO evidence to back that up, sure there is clearly some health issue but to put that down to racism without any evidence is frankly worse than racism as it fuels and worse, diminish real instances of racism as you are conditioning people to dismiss it by liberals sprinkling it upon everything without any proof that is the case.
    If racism is the issue here then facts, cases against people - things like that to prove that is clearly the issue but to enable any difference to be put down to that when frankly in this instance, you try and fit things into some racial agenda - sorry but that's not right and.....more racist than you realise.

    • @amandakangai6541
      @amandakangai6541 3 года назад +2

      The NHS is made up of people, so if they have prejudiced views then of course there is an inequality. Did you not hear in the video, that a doctor claimed that black women are built differently to white women, which is not true at all - that is damaging and has unfortunately led to a death. If you don't believe that there is inequality when a black women is 5 times more likely to die in childbirth than white women, you need to research what inequality means. If you're so startled about that fact that this implies that the NHS is racist, put your energy into demanding that things change because it doesn't reflect the NHS in a good light at all.
