This is one of my favorite fragrances. I still have one bottle of EDT FROM 2005 and bought a second one last year. EDT is still being sold here in Australia for a decent price but I haven’t seen any EDP for sale. I love Boucheron as well and I can see similarities as they’re both oriental type fragrances except Opixxm is more spicy. Nice review.
I have both of these, found the EDP in a Galeria Kaufhof mall in Cologne a couple of years ago (before corona.) In fact they had about 4 bottles on the shelf. I've been back there a few times since then, and they have been gone for a while. The EDT I've seen a few times here in Bonn in the Galeria Kaufhof, in fact even recently (just about a month ago I think), but I have that one even before I got the EDP in Cologne. This is an interesting review, but honestly I find it a bit confusing, bringing in things as hugely different as Vick Vapor Rub, Givenchy Gentleman the OG, Boucheron Jaipur, and Chanel Allure Homme. All extremely different smells, and to my nose, none of them remotely close to either YSL Opium EDT or EDP. Imho and to put it in very few words, the EDT and the EDP I find similar, the EDT being for sure lighter (I'm not sure I'd say "brighter", since there's kind of some dusty (powdery? spicy?) smell in it that I do not correlate with brightness.) The EDP I find fruitier, somewhat denser/sweeter/"meatier", as if they had used some dried fruit with more "meat" in them, or sweetened it a bit more strongly. It's probably not the fruits themselves but the proportions of spices/resins that might give this effect, no idea, but smelling their drydowns I get this impression of some more meaty prominent edible fruitiness from the EDP. Both are fall/winter fragrances for sure, to me not medicinal, and I find them both very elegant, so very good for going out at night, the EDP more formal smelling to me, slightly darker. They are both delicious fragrances, truly. In spite of their age, I think they in fact might appeal to the younger generations, because of their sweetness and spiciness. Those are very prominent compared to the "oriental-ness" of these Opium EDT and EDP fragrances. For comparison, I think Jaipur and even Allure Homme could also appeal to younger generations, but less than the YSL Opiums, while the OG Givenchy Gentleman would almost certainly not be appealing to them.

I’ve never gotten my nose on this. I have a 1996 Opium PH EDT that I cherish. Never found the EDP.
