Kilimanjaro Climb - Full 6 Day Machame Route
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 23 фев 2021
- In December of 2020 I climbed Kilimanjaro via the 6 day Machame Route to achieve my first of the world's "Seven Summits".
Due to COVID travel restrictions I was lucky enough to have the mountain all to myself for the duration of the climb, leading to a one of a kind Kilimanjaro experience.
This video is my experience on this epic mountain with a day-by-day presentation of the climb.
The push for the summit begins at the 16:00 mark.

You have no idea how much I appreciate that. Thank you man! Kilimanjaro truly is an epic experience
Nov 2023 is my year to summit
What an amazing video!!! Takes you on the journey with him!!
Loved your first day Dan and Chelle! You are so motivated, you both motivated me to walk around my condo here outside of Boston, MA. I’ll be here all the way to the top! Take good care and God bless you all ♥️☮️🎉
This is one of the best videos on the real insight climb of Mt Kili. It is one of the climb in my bucket list and after watching this video, very inspiring to do one soon. Thank you Billy. A great and amazing video
Really appreciate that Jaya. It was a one of a kind experience and I can't recommend it enough. I hope you get to see for yourself soon. Good luck on the climb!
Amazing to see you all alone on the mountain, I my self went on Mt. Meru and the Whiskey route in 2015 and nobody was on Meru and not so many on Kilimanjaro, but nothing like this. Thank you for the video.
It really was amazing to have the mountain so quiet like that. I wish I had time to climb Meru as well. Congrats on your summit and thanks for watching.
Owesome...great video!!
Jai na anveshana 🇮🇳
Proud of Indian travelling RUclipsr
Amazing video. I really wanna climb the mountain. You make it look so cool
Great footage. Really enjoyed this. This actually looked like a significantly more difficult route than a lot of the other videos of the climb I’ve seen on here.
Thanks for watching Jake! Appreciate the comment. The weather definitely added a factor during this go at it.
Hope people will see this video and appreciate your effort!
Amazing video! So lucky to have the entire mountain for yourself!!
Truly a once in a lifetime opportunity I fell into by chance...Thanks for checking it out!
i did this exact route about two weeks ago, with some truly amazing people. hands down one the best experiences of my life, strange seeing it without so many people tho
Congratulations on your climb Garin. Couldn't agree more, truly an experience like none other.
is it hard to summit kilimanjaro using this route or is it just regular hiking like in the 2000 m mountains
@@ambatunat. I think it's a fairly middle difficulty route. There's a couple spots which proved challenging and then also some easy bits as well. More challenging than a 2k mountain for sure
Very inspiring I cant wait to venture into the Great Kilimanjaro Climb....
Best of luck on your Kilimanjaro endeavor!
Following! Wishing success on your journey to conquering all 7.
Thank you! Much Appreciated! Now if only travel restrictions would ease off again!
cool. my son just finished the Lemosho route a couple weeks ago. makes me appreciate his climb even more.
Awesome, congrats to your son!
awesome........im doing that trek next year.......
HI Tx for the video..what would u suggest any planning to hike as i have done previously upto 10k feet and looking forward to climbing this soon
I can't wait to climb Mt Kilimanjaro!
Best of luck!
Cool experience
It's so sad how fast that snow is disapearing 🥺
Super Love u bro ❤ India
Your hard work is very very Good brother
What a video Billy. A little correction though, the guides told me the same thing about the Giant Senacio only growing in Kili but I've seen in Kenya as well, I've seen it on Mt. Kenya and along the Aberdares Ranges.
Thanks for watching! I was told the same by the guides and after learned of other Dendrosenecio plants on other mountains such as Mt Kenya; but I believe they are a different subspecies. In hindsight I should have specified the sub-species Dendrosenecio kilimanjari, which is only found on Kilimanjaro.
@@BillyKhach correct. Anyway, I've just found out about you today, love the content. Subscribed.
I would be singing and dancing the same after achieving such expedition 🍷
great sir
Awesome video

Ok I will ask my mom
Watching this a week after the summit ❤❤❤
Congratulations on your summit!
Great video
Thanks antek!
Loved your video and we will be going up end of May. We hope to have a similar experience with lower crowds.
If I may ask, I really liked how you edited your video, what camera were you using and what editing program did you use? The 3D pathing of your climb was especially interesting and something I've not seen in other videos. I'm still learning how to edit and create interesting videos so I appreciate any tips you might share.
Good luck on your climbs, Acon is high on my list for the next peak as well so I look forward to following along and learning from your experiences.
Thanks! and best of luck with the upcoming climb. I'm sure you'll find Kili to be a mind blowing experience.
For this video I used Adobe premier elements for editing. It's simple to use though admittedly seems to lack some of the "oomph" other programs have for features like detailed audio editing, transitions, and title pages.
The 3D path was created using an app called Relive. It will turn any recorded activity with GPS tracking into a video on a topography map like that. I did a one week trial of the paid version to get the more detailed topo map for this video. Super simple to use and then import the video into Adobe like any other clip.
Good luck on your climbs as well and thanks for checking this out.
Also an indian🇮🇳 youtuber "naa anveshana" climbed Kilimanjaro
We have giant Senecio trees in Mount kenya, kenya as well😊
Did the exact same climb but in January 2021, so nice to be hiking without the big crowds! Are you thinking about Mount Elbrus next?
Congrats on the summit! I hope to go for Aconcagua next...what’s the next one you’re shooting for?
@@BillyKhach Thanks and congrats to you too! I live in Europe so Elbrus is both cheaper and closer one, but been looking into Aconcagua as well! Although I am little intimidated by the altitude :D Are you planning to climb in December/January?
@@katarzynaczepiela9132 awesome! I definitely hope to get to Elbrus soon as well. And yes! Probably going to go to peru over the summer for some climbs and then Aconcagua in December. So nice to have travel open again
@@BillyKhach Cool!! Looking forward to following your journey and hoping the travel restrictions will ease soon :)
Hi absolutely sick video. Just wondering what video and camera equipment you used? So sick
Thanks Geordie! Really appreciate that. I used just a GoPro hero 9 for the entire thing with a few different mounts. Nothing fancy but that little camera packs a punch.
Great video! We will be climbing Kili in August 2022. Any suggestions for footwear and gear?

Tina hi I am climbing in September 26-3/10 praying for clear weather
Hey Billy, awesome video. I am planning my own trek after watching this. Do you think the 6 days on the mountain was enough?
Hey Martin, thanks for watching. I definitely feel like 6 days was enough. The pace is very slow due to the acclimitization process with a lot of time to relax at camp and take in the views.
It takes at least five days to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. However, a minimum of six days, and ideally seven or eight, offers a far better chance of reaching the top. For those with longer to spare, there are several more gradual and scenic ascent routes that can be done over 10 or more days. For more details and if you wanna trek with us, or join our available groups for 2022 please visit www.kileleafrika.com/
Bro super bro
I am Indian bro
You are videos super bro
Wonderful video. How many days for the descent?
Thank you! You take a more direct route out. Only 1 overnight on the descent. About 2 half days of trekking to get to the bottom.
Sweet home tanzania🇹🇿
Amazing well-done
What camera did you use.
Thanks Lester! I filmed everything on my GoPro Hero 9 for this one.
tyvm for sharing , am planning to go in 2022 :)
Thanks for watching! Best of luck on your climb next year!
you can booking with us
I'm doing this route next Feb (2023) and your glasses look great for it. Where did you get them from?
Thanks! They’re the julbo Vermont classics. Best of luck on your climb!
@@BillyKhach Thank you!!
Looking forward to this climbing on 26/9 -3/10
Best of luck on your climb!
Hey Billy. Awesome video. We're going in January. I'm curious about your layering. It looks like you're in your orange HH puffer most of the time. Midweight? Heavyweight? Can you let me know the model? Any other words of wisdom? Thanks and nice work on the climb and the making of the video.
Hey Brian. First off thanks and best of luck on your upcoming climb! The HH puffer was midweight and I layered underneath with t-shirts, an insulated quarter zip, and a sweater. All quick drying and microbial fabrics. One thing I did not pack that I would say is a must is a true waterproof shell. I had to resort to garbage bags on a few days and the last thing you want is your insulating layers to get wet because they won't dry out in the tent at night. The only night of SERIOUS cold was the final push to the summit. Once the sun comes up you'll start to cook so definitely be in a position to easily peel off layers when that happens. Definitely some polarized sunglasses and sunscreen too.... The sun is STRONG on the descent from the summit. Other than this I'd say just enjoy the climb! It isn't super difficult or technical. As long as you acclimate to the altitude properly you'll be golden. Best!
Hey Billy! We made it… thanks for your hints… They actually were very helpful. We only had one bad day of rain, but the rest of it was pretty good weather. A little cloudy… But I’ll take that over pouring rain. Again, thanks for your advice and your reply. Happy new year 2023!

Very risky journey..... great

I'm from India
Your great
Thanks Billy! Any recommendations on the company to hire? Was it any internet connection available on the route? Any tips on saving money? :)
For saving money I would recommend hiring a local guide service. Basically the exact same service that doesn't have to pay exorbitant taxes to operate there. I would recommend reaching out to kevdonns@gmail.com about a local guide service. If you can't get him reach out to Paul Shayo trekking. There was absolutely no internet connection or cell service along the route. Hope this helps!
Hi! This is looking so amazing! Could you share the agency you booked the climb with? Thank you ☺️
I would recommend contacting my guide, Kelvin, directly. His e-mail is kevdonns@gmail.com . If he's on an expedition it may be a few days until he responds but I can't recommend him enough. The local guides often work with multiple agencies and they truly make or break the trip. Thanks for watching and good luck!
Hi bro I am from India 🇮🇳 nice video

What month was this?
This was in December
Very nice and good video, but a bit sad that the background music is so loud and your voice is so low.
Best I could do with just a GoPro and a solar charger to keep it going. Thanks for watching!
@@BillyKhach No problem, still a great video! Hopefully I’ll do the same route within this year.
