Good questions! Since the porters were carrying most of the gear our packs were lighter. We carried water, extra clothing, and snacks so our packs weigh about 10-15 pounds. There are water fill ups available at the camps.
On Kilimanjaro, the limiting factor isn't the space in your duffel bag: it's the weight of your items. Porters on Kilimanjaro are only allowed to carry 33 pounds each up the mountain, a limit Thomson strictly adheres to for their health and safety. Took me three goes to reach Uluṟu peak. Arrived at 8:30 am the same time and the same date as Myer reached the summit. Well done!

1965: 3 of us walked up to Gilmans Point and back down again in two days.
