I also climbed Kilimanjaro in februari 2024. We did it in 7days and had an amazing time at at the mountain! So lovely to watch this video and see everthing again.
I was there at the Uhuru Peak on 15. feb 1989. There were only 80 climbers at the easiest "Whisky route" on that day...so no tent villages. We slept in cosy huts. I believe they are still there. And above all; the whole peak was covered with snow and ice. I have kept in my mind the swahili words: POLE POLE. It is good for your life in many occasions.
Wow! 1989 is a long time ago! Congratulations. The huts are now on the Marangu (Cocacola) route, at the Whiskey route you just camp in tents. The mountain nowadays gets so many visitors, even on the Marangu route you still find people camping as the huts are usually full on most times. Snow and ice have reduced significantly over the years, the mountain has changed a lot... Thanks for taking the journey again on this video..
@@fbagbey thanks a lot for passing by and for the positive feedback. You are not too old by the way, there have been older climbers who got to the summit.. You could try some day.. Thanks again..
Wow! 1974! Must have been extremely rewarding climbing at that time. I'm sure the mountain looked extremely different.. As you see, today, more than 100 people summit Kilimanjaro every day.

I hope those porters are paid well coz that's very tiring
They are, and climbers are encouraged to also tip them as per their ability.
