The fact that two babies disappeared in one week I’m going to go out on a limb and say the hospital sold them. That was a rampant thing back in the day. Some third party probably told the hospital they would buy unwanted babies for rich couples.
They still do it today.
She should sue the hospital. Taking away someone's child like that is despicable.
Sadly, that type of thing happened all the time back then and there was nothing the parents could do about it. Also, DCF was particularly terrible back then. Watch the last story on Season 11, Episode 11. It's heart breaking.

Look up Gabriel Hernandez and how they failed him (but be warned, it is gruesome and horrific). Look up cases where they have falsified drug screens to justify taking children from drug free/non abusive parents. Nothing has changed.

I feel for marlys and her family. The hospital and the funeral home should have been sued and an expose written on this whole nightmare. These do gooders are despicable who take innocent children away from their mothers. The doctors, nurses and funeral directors are disgusting for doing this to a twenty year old who wanted to keep her baby.

Yes, this surely is a horrifying story! I feel so bad for this mother. Losing a child is the most profound grief and pain that a parent can suffer, and she has both the not knowing and the despicable thing that was done to her to deal with on top of that. I wonder if I could have handled this without falling to pieces. I'm mentally strong, but this would have broken me. Hope she found the answers. I'll be scouring for updates!

That original was my childhood. I grew up watching this every Friday night.

I loved Unsolved Mysteries I just wish they had continued to use the original Theme song from the first season and couple of early seasons. who's stupid Idea was it to change the music over the years.

I believe this was due in part to switching television networks (leaving NBC to move to CBS). They had lost the rights to the original NBC theme.

Marlys’ story is heartbreaking and disturbing. I hope she was able to pursue some type of legal action against the hospital and/or funeral home based upon her research. Strange that UM didn’t show a close up view of the family photo she received in the mail. Sadder still that there is no update 😔
I love watching unsolved mysteries I stay up ontell 3:00 am or 4:00 am to watch it 😀😀😀😀 and around 5:00 Am I fall asleep😴😴😴 it's my favorite TV series ❤❤💜💜💖💖💗💗 and I liked it when I change theme of the song on unsolved mysteries 👍👍

What happened to Marlys Thomas is so heartbreaking and tragic and angering. That doctor and possibly the funeral director conspired and stole Marlys Thomas's baby and who knows how many other babies. It's a shame Marlys Thomas is not alive even though she only had circumstantial evidence I feel if she was alive today it would be enough to bring a lawsuit against the hospital. I bet the hospital is well aware of went on back then even to this day and would have settled out of court with a nondisclosure agreement and offered a lot of money.

Robert Stack looking a little older here in season 10 and also losing his deeper younger voice. He was aging here. The voice tells it all if you compare the first season to this. It almost quivers at times. Died of a heart attack later.
May he rest in peace! He was a very familiar and important part of my childhood from watching these with Grandma and Grandpa....so many memories!! Sigh!!

Not sure how I’m feeling about this new mousy theme music. I stopped watching this after 1992. So I wasn’t aware that the theme music changed again.
Yeah nothing can beat the original theme, in my opinion. The theme is a big part of the show's identity and legacy, it's something they should have never changed.
Unsolved mysteries theme from season 1 through season 3 gold best in era and hey day. Season 4 through 5 still great. Season 6 through 9 Not as great but still good. Season 10 through 12 well at least you still had Robert stack.

Marlys looks WAY older than 55. My wife is 58 and looks 10-15 years younger than Marlys. The stress of losing her child like that must've been such a burden to her. Such a shame that her baby was stolen from her like that.

Very plausible. Personally, I think several important mob figures were involved in the murder - a lot of people wanted to see him go lol. Dragna was powerful, but I doubt he was powerful enough to do this on his own, I doubt anyone would have made a move on Bugsy without getting the ok from Lansky and Luciano first.

Regarding Bugsy! Hypothetically if this was mafia related ALL would have had to have been in on it as in some form of an agreement. Let us suppose the above is true. The best alibi for the lady would have been " soaking in the tub in another part of the house" BUT! It may have been decided that she would have cracked in questioning or such. Which lead to the next best alibi for her. yeah, he is in her house but she's out of town with witnesses. Rather convenient if you ask me but it is what it is! Now here are my thoughts .. Nine shots thru a window with only 4 hits ... it is sloppy at best or perhaps intentional. If it was sloppy it was not a professional hit. The club takeover is standard operation action so that's not necessarily an act of guilt or involvement. Follow the Money is the only logical conclusion!

@@daboys1215 I was speaking in regards to the gig itself, not Mr Stack. The production values, the producers/stories, the cheapened look of it all. He was the one beacon of integrity left. He was still better than the show he was on in its fading seasons.
Well, you realize that by season 10 it had gone from NBC to CBS and production value did look cheap. I'll give you that. Then they went sexist and added Keely Shay Smith and Virginia Madsen because of course two women would boost ratings. It didn't. It was even worse when it was revived by Lifetime in 2000 for season 12. I didn't even have Lifetime by then and stopped watching. I only saw those episodes here on YT. All that and Robert Stack started to sound his age. It happens. Nobody gets younger and shows don't stay the same forever. The early seasons were the best though. ;)

I can confirm that the story behind suddenly becoming Psychic is 100 percent true. When I was young I did not have any sort of Medium ability's it was only after a near-death experience in which I almost drowned as a teenager that the ability to sense things was woken in me. Having another near-death experience years later where I developed pulmonary edema in my lungs after getting surgery after my appendix ruptured just enhanced my Psychic abilities to where I could and still can communicate with Spirits rather than just sense them.
I was hoping someone responded like you did. I fell out of a tree at age 7 and briefly died. I was floating way above my body watching my mom bending over me. There's more but the main thing is I came away from the NDE with a "knowing". I knew when something was going to happen to someone I loved and I had some weird supernatural happenings thru the years.

Recently, there have been several stories where children have been reunited with biological parents, and the biological parents had been told that their child was deceased. This suggests that a similar occurrence could have definitely happened to Marlys and Mary Agnes. However, Mary Agnes Gross has still not been found.
Sadly, Marlys Thomas passed away in 2012; she was seventy. However, her other children are still searching for the truth regarding Mary Agnes.

I don't like how they condensed, especially with these later seasons, the episodes down into a smaller number. It made me very confused that s9 ended at episode 18. I also wish they wouldn't have removed certain cases.

Is it possible that Marlys's estranged husband knows what happened to baby Mary Agnes? Sure hospitals adopted out babies born to single mothers, but why pretend the baby died? Why not just make her sign adoption papers? Perhaps the whole "dead baby" scenario was orchestrated by her estranged husband as a way to help her "move on" and forget about the baby??
