    *UPDATE* As of 6-14-2024 this just passed the HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES and is on it's way to the SENATE. No real answers here on how all this will play out...but this is a train in motion (for many reasons). Sit tight....this isn't looking good for DJI drone enthusiasts.

However, as I mentioned in some other comments I responded to...you've got Social Media Apps (tik-toc, Instagram, Twitter, etc.) that all have their own security risks as well. @@jayizanu5990you realize this is more about market forces than espionage, right? DJI has a monopoly on the market, and several US drone manufacturers have been lobbying to ban DJI. I’d love to see the stock portfolio of all involved politicians. Unfortunately there’s enough tech-clueless people out there that support this ban that it might actually go through. “CCP bad! Unless you are out in the country where no one ever sees you fly. How would they enforce that in areas where we don't even have police? Some areas around me have no phone data. There is not even at&t service in nearby areas. I have to use wifi calling at work. You could fly a drone 24\7 and no one would know it especially on private property in the thick woods and underbrush we have. You would have to go to a nearby town and try to be seen. Makes me think of when they tried to ban alcohol which was impossible.

    • @RGMGFitness
      @RGMGFitness  4 месяца назад +3

      All good points but if the FAA bans DJI drones than they would not even be sold here in the USA. It's like everything else though...we just want to enjoy flying our drones without the 'potential' of being harassed or fined for simply doing something many of us just enjoy. Of course 'existing' owners of DJI hardware would of course be flying at their own risk. For someone like myself its just not worth the drama. Don't need to worry about hiring a lawyer and wasting my time paying for legal fees (regardless of wheather or not I'm in the right or wrong). If you've ever dealt with our legal system you absolutely know what I'm talking about.

      I hear your point, and fully agree. However, even the allowance of this kind of bill being passed would be a step backward. Especially being that it's likely due to the ignorance of a dumb politician who understands literally, LITERALLY nothing technical.. and when they do understand, it doesn't matter because they are not truthful anyways. This requires a little bit of action from all of us. Just to nip it in the bud.

    Although I am primarily a homebuilt FPV pilot, I have a mini 3 pro and it is amazing. I do wish that companies in America would step up their game and create products comparable to the quality, and functionality of a DJI drone. I am just a regular American working class guy who loves flying drones so I don't pretend to understand the difficulty of making this happen. However, the fact that China has this massive advantage in the drone market is something that is concerning to me. Like them or not drones are part of the future of mankind and I am an American who signed up to defend, and still loves his country. It will suck to not be able to fly my mini 3 anymore, but I do understand the fear of Chinese drones.

      Lots of hearing at this point....things are certainly moving in that direction but will also vary by use case and state. Unfortunately, a person has to be a near drone expert to keep track of a lot of these rules, regulations, and changes. I pretty much keep up with what impacts me directly here in NJ but I also see a lot of other news articles talking about restricting any Gov't agency from use of DJI drones, then you have state and local regulations as well as FAA regulations....you get the idea. Lots of hoops to jump through in 2024. 🤬🤬🤬

    DJI requires you to login to your account every 30 days using your remote.. They say this is for safety and to update the flysafe app. But they do download your flight logs every time you login. So can you blame the US government for banning the use of them? They don't want DJI having access to that data. IF the Drone didn't require you to login every mouth and worked with out needing you to do this. Then may be it wouldn't be getting banned.. The ONLY reason to force you to do this is to mine your data

      Lots of different scenarios out there (as to what and how people are flying). Briefly, I've built my own and have obviously flown pre-built (or off the shelf drones) as well. Personally, just like trying different tech to see what I enjoy. Not everyone has the time to build..many just want to fly. Unfortunately, we can't put everyone into one bucket. As someone with 5 kids, 4 grand kids, etc....we'll, I want to spend more time flying and less time fixing. Though, I can do it if I have too. I've put this in other comments as well. I think there are bigger fish to fry on this issue as well. Gov't in this situation is targeting DJI but let's look at all these social media platforms (X, twitter, FaceBook, Instagram, Meta, etc.)...All these guys are sharing our information. It's a huge issue and attacking one hobby just isn't the answer when you look at the scope of the problem.
