This was super helpful, thank you!
thank you so much! the explanation was very good and makes me motivated to explore more the options in sketchup.
Thanks very much for watching! Glad you found it helpful!
Love the videos you do. I never thought you could use the sandbox tools to create sophisticated steel structures with double curved surfaces. Brilliant! Thank you.
I probably need to do another video like this - haven't done one in a while - thanks!
Thank you for the video! :)
Well done. Thanks for sharing. This is a great help as I am looking to create realistic landscape design models to show clients the proposed plan and/or options.
Thanks - really glad you liked it! :)
Incredibly helpful. I know a lot of skeptchup but the sandbox has been one I haven't looked into much. Now Im gonna have to lol. Thanx!
Thanks! Glad it helped!
thank you good person for your kindly soul to teach and help the others...

Never used the sandbox before. It reminds me The Sims 1 terrain editor, haha. Very good explanation!
It's a good one!

Glad you liked it! :)
yeah thanks that was really useful
Thanks very much!
Thank you so much for your lessons. I do have a question if it is possible to import a data file of x,y,z points into sandbox and have it create the surface from that. Basically if I had an output file from transit.
thank you
Thanks for watching!
Thanks Mann
Thanks for watching!
i love this canopy but how would you build the shape that it would fit against?
This was great, my school taught me nothing when compared to your RUclips channel sir❤
thank you so much, !
but i cant find the deselect from my tools and i dont have the pipe converter
Hi there - those are extensions you have to download and install - the links are in the video description. Thanks!
always good to review what you thought you already knew to discover why it was not working: Thanks again, Justin ! By the way is there an "advanced sandbox" which allows more control over face editing in under smoove, and doing all of the above off a non horizontal (xz or yz axis or an off-axis grid ?
If you're looking for more of this kind of functionality, Vertex Tools from Thom Thom is a good toolset - ruclips.net/video/7uGZvC5Kgd0/видео.html - It's paid, but it's not super expensive - personally I think it's totally worth it...
Hi I want to ask. The shape of my building for the final project is more or less like this, and now I want to make a diorama / scale model. Is there a tool in Sketch-Up that breaks down organic shapes like that into something 2D?
Anyway thanks for your videos, they really helped me.
How do you finish the shape? attach it to a hull or fuselage of a similar shape?
superb
😎
can we create structures on complex topography created by the sandbox tool ?
can I download and install sketchup on my 21 " Samsung tablet, since I tried and did not work
Great how easy you can make mesh, thanks (9:30)
Thanks for watching!
you are a great man really thank you
Drape tool is not working the way it is in the video (3:15), How should i fix it?
very smart , can u make a thickness to the glass ?
I'm not 100% sure. If I was to try, I'd use an extension like Joint Push Pull to give the surface depth, but I'm not sure how well it would work - ruclips.net/video/BGMypUPHzKs/видео.html - Thanks for watching!
Thank you!!! I'm crying right now cuz I wasted so much time in making an organic roof myself, like each freaking segment of it xD
Well now you know a better way! :)
How to get ghs powerbar extension
The step at 3:06 not working in my case.. . Plz help.... grids are not showing on the upper geometry
Excellent. There's not much about using sandbox on the Sketchup site .
Thanks Mark - it definitely has some good applications!
Very helpful! But I have a question! Does it have to be google skectchup pro? And a windows operating system? Thanks
It does not have to be the Pro version, and there is a free SketchUp version for mac as well. Thanks!
Hey Justin +thesketchupessentials I was just wondering if you know a way of keeping the parameter of the shape static/flat/stable whilst modifying the face of it using sandbox toole? I want to create a 3d printed shape that will fit into a 2D hole so I want to maintain the original parameters (flat) whilst creating ‘bulges’ in the centre. Hope that makes sense.
I'm having some trouble visualizing what you're talking about - if I understand correctly, you're talking about maintaining the perimeter/width of the object while adding the bulges so it will fit in a hole? It kind of depends on what the bulges are supposed to look like. You can adjust the width of your Sandbox brush so it doesn't grab the edges, or you might even want to think about using something like curviloft with the skinning tool. Not sure if this helps or not - let me know
Thanks Justin, I think you do understand what I mean. The thing is, its quite tedious trying to mould the surface of the the shape without distorting the base and ideally id be able to use the brush in any size without worrying about the edge. Its seems like a useful tool for a lot of things so I imagine it does exist somewhere.
Ideally id be able to pull the shape from the base while the base surface and parameter stay locked (sort of like a bubble coming out of a ring). I tried actually locking the parameter but that doesn't seem to work. Please Let me know if you can think of anything. I will check out Curviloft and see if that helps. Thanks again!
Did you ever find a solution to this problem? I am trying to model a dome-like structure to fit over a specific shape site but using the sandbox tools the edges keep 'peeling up' meaning it does not fit to the base.
Hi Justin. The glass texture or plain colors work well but textures with patterns are displayed in every geometric square as a unique texture. Is there any way of applying a single texture across the entire organic face?
Sounds like a UV Mapping issue - maybe try Thru-Paint? - ruclips.net/video/RoVHjmUBUNE/видео.html
hi lines to tube is a paid extension right
hi , it was really helpfull , can i have your all sketch up tutorials.
I don't understand the question - anything on RUclips is there to watch
Can u please add a tutorial regarding iesve extension in sketchup
I don't know what that is...
I need to know how to create a flat bottom when creating a mound in a landscaping model
I'd use joint push pull kind of like I do in this video, but without the object slicing - ruclips.net/video/-Pxl0pjOkW0/видео.html
Hey Im running the program on mac, any idea where I can find the Sandbox there?
Honestly I don't know because I only have a PC - I assume you load it wherever you load your other extensions...
what extension do you use for lines to tubes?
It's actually called Lines to Tubes - you can find the link for it in this forum post - sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=12354 - you may have to register to see the download file
how is it possible if at all, to download and install any sketchup version on my 21" Samsung tablet? !?
Generally speaking, at the moment the desktop version of SketchUp doesn't run on tablet operating systems. You could try the web version of SketchUp, but I don't know if it will work very well - check it out here - ruclips.net/video/APxfekkqyoc/видео.html
is a way how i can change color of selected areas or edges ? /dont like blue /
Actually yes - you can go in your styles section of your tray, go to the tab for "Edit," and select the furthest right box (the blue one -modeling settings). From there, the first option is for "Selected" - If you click in that box, you can change the color of the selection edges in SketchUp
Hi justin i have a problem with the smoove tool, when i use it it doesn't make "organic" shapes or humps. It basically pulls from a point and makes very rigid and edgy shapes. Idk what's wrong i hope you can help thanks
Have you tried typing in a value to increase the radius of the Smoove tool?
I think this also work in sofa cushion.
Probably would :)
hey , how do i extrude or thicken the surface ?
ruclips.net/video/VGgXpaaJ_o4/видео.html
Hello Justin, Do you have any idea of how to make an organic shape building like Zaha Hadid design.. I can see that this tutorial is like a first step of understanding organic shape.. But I want to make an organic shape of building with wall of 12cm thick.. Any idea?
If you're just talking about giving something like this thickness, maybe try Joint Push Pull - ruclips.net/video/MJ8FyGSnboI/видео.html
Subscribed 👍
I guess asymmetric organic roof will be kinda hard
how do i open the default tray?
It should be under window, default tray. Select the box for "Show Tray." Thanks!
hi wht commad to chnge the grid spacing?
I'm a bit confused - I talk about how to set grid spacing about :45 seconds into the video. Are you talking about changing the grid spacing after setting it? I don't think you can do that, you'd just have to re-draw the grid. Did that help?
Its okay. Im a bit blur that day. Thanks!
I cant get it to drape :(
what this plugin parameter?
I don't understand the question
hey buddy, dont forget to blink ..
thank you
Glad you liked it!
