I probably have to do this to my ‘04 this weekend. Thanks for making it look easy. I can’t see in the video, but there is a small purge valve on the thermostat that needs to go towards the top. That, and bleed the radiator.
personally would never reuse fluid, especially without siving it through, who knows what dirt and dust fell into it from underneath. also for what its worth, hassle free to refresh teh coolant, nice video tho! i will be replacing this on my nissan too. will try making a quick video on it too. keep up the good work!
Wow, thanks for this. My Nissan Sentra 2003 GXE overheated on me on the way home from work today. Thermostat is my only logic cause for the overheat. So I'll be following this video step by step. Thanks whoever made this, I don't care what anyone says about you. You are Koo in my book.
@ Dustin Knittel.... same car, same year.... just happened to me on the way home from work tonight, too.... I followed the advice of another commenter, here, and bled the air out of my coolant system.... worked like a charm ! ! !
Yes, You will create a "vapor lock" buy capping the radiator/coolant reservoir without starting and running the coolant through the engine. You can easily overheat your engine and blow a head gasket with out bleeding it :(
Yep found that out the hard way no heat in vehicle and it overheated when it was below zero outside..Just need to bleed system and was ok air in system after replacing thermostat and water pump
Nevermind, I got to a desktop and see that your thermostat is on the left-hand side of the engine. On the Altima (QR25DE engine), the thermostat is on the front of the engine while it's brother, the water control valve, is on the left. Thanks again, Camilo...waiting for the engine to cool as I type, so I can change the thermostat :^)
The car is running good. No troubles at all. Check engine light is off since i did the job. I didn't run my car with the coolant cap off, but i think its good idea. Regard
Excellent excellent video. Saved me plenty of money, no nonsense. Quick question though, can you just squeeze upper/lower hoses a few times to bleed air out? If so I'll only spend $12.00 on a thermostat! Again, great vid.
I wish I hadn't watched this. I just paid $300 for my mechanic to do this (I like my mechanic and I think they did a flush of the coolant and put new in but still). Now I know for next time. Thanks for the video!
For '05 Sentra 1.8l (QG18DE) there is a bleeder screw by the three bolts on the housing. Just be warned that the hot coolant streaming out while removing it makes reinserting it a bit dicey. Also, pump the hoses (upper, right?) with your hand to bring up air bubbles while the cap is off and car is running.
WoW, thanks a million man, you just saved my day and 200 dollars... did it work ok ? did air get in the system ? should i run the car with coolant cap off to get the air out ???
Well done Camilo. I couldn't see the finer detail of your work because I watched your video through my iPhone 3GS. Was this valve facing the front or the left-hand side of the engine compartment? I too like that you reused the coolant :^)
That was freaking awesome! Is there a reason you poured it into the radiator versus the overflow? I am getting ready to do this and would have never thought of opening the radiator and don't want to inadvertently introduce any new problems. I am also going to go out and purchase a funnel and drip pan so that I can try to duplicate your work as much as possible. Damn that was quick!
folks what he did not show is their is a way that it gopes in looks like you could put that in anyposition and your fine i should know been working on vehicles since 1978 even now fwd are a pain to workon but still i get the JOB done do you learn any thing about any thing here cos i sure didn't
just curious, what's physically wrong with the bad one? and do you have to put the bleed hole @ the top position? Just curious because the stock Nissan thermostat I took out says 'top' just next to the bleed hole... Or is it just saying it's the top of the thermostat lol.
Quick note...do not re used the coolant that dropped down under the car....that carries along all the dirt and debris the engine had on it and into the coolant lines and radiator...not good
although u did 1 thing wrong you installed it upside down, theres a air bleed release notch that suppose to be to the top, and aren't you suppose to put some RTV ?
If you see below, there are only positive comments. My idea was helps people with their cars and save money. Anyway, I just have to look at your profile picture to realize that your life is a disaster. Ps: taking off that goddamn wig, will be a good start.
This guy cracks me up.No talking, just complete concentration and work.Great video.
Thank you for the quick and straightforward video! I've grown tired of people narrating 20 minute videos when it could be as easy as this.
I probably have to do this to my ‘04 this weekend. Thanks for making it look easy.
I can’t see in the video, but there is a small purge valve on the thermostat that needs to go towards the top.
That, and bleed the radiator.
I've never seen someone so hardcore while wearing a pair of crocs.
:)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
Thanks for the video! I did NOT disconnect the hose and it moved freely out of the way and I replaced the thermostat. Error code 0128 was gone!!
personally would never reuse fluid, especially without siving it through, who knows what dirt and dust fell into it from underneath. also for what its worth, hassle free to refresh teh coolant, nice video tho! i will be replacing this on my nissan too. will try making a quick video on it too. keep up the good work!
Awesome and Simple! great job. Please post more.
Dude, I'm kicking myself for not doing this myself! Thanks for posting this!
Did you do it yet? It happened to me today and looks like we'll be doing it tonight. WAs it easy?
@ Dustin Knittel.... same car, same year.... just happened to me on the way home from work tonight, too.... I followed the advice of another commenter, here, and bled the air out of my coolant system.... worked like a charm ! ! !
Thanks! This video was very helpful and straightforward.
Loved the fact that you reused the coolant... lol
u forgot the last, but most important part of this... U didn't bleed the air out if the system!!!! will cause overheating!
Yes, You will create a "vapor lock" buy capping the radiator/coolant reservoir without starting and running the coolant through the engine. You can easily overheat your engine and blow a head gasket with out bleeding it :(
Juan n
@ Juan.... Thanks, bro'.... Your advice solved my dilemma tonight.... Now I can drive to work tomorrow morning....
Yep found that out the hard way no heat in vehicle and it overheated when it was below zero outside..Just need to bleed system and was ok air in system after replacing thermostat and water pump
how do you bleed the air??
Thanks for taking the time to make the video, big help for me as well. Glenn Ostrosky Edmonton, AB, Canada
Also this video is a prime example of the fact that having the right tools means this job was done in under 15 mins.

Buen video ..gracias por enseñarme como cambiar el termostato..saludos desde cancun..
I love the commentary
Thank you for your information. Appreciated.
Thanks alot for this upload. very easy to follow the instructions.
The Nissan Sentra has 2 thermostats. One lower and one upper. The one replaced was the upper one. I didn’t know that.
The car is running good. No troubles at all. Check engine light is off since i did the job. I didn't run my car with the coolant cap off, but i think its good idea. Regard
Thanks for the video. Seriously, TREMENDOUS help!
Thanks so much for the tutorial! :D
thats how you do it, reuse that old coolant fuck yeah
Excellent excellent video. Saved me plenty of money, no nonsense. Quick question though, can you just squeeze upper/lower hoses a few times to bleed air out? If so I'll only spend $12.00 on a thermostat! Again, great vid.
I just replaced mine. Went to Oriely and the man wow this is so easy just snug those 3 bolts and you good to go.
I wish I hadn't watched this. I just paid $300 for my mechanic to do this (I like my mechanic and I think they did a flush of the coolant and put new in but still). Now I know for next time. Thanks for the video!
Thanks a hell of a lot for this video man!
Great work and quick/clean. Nice job.
Thanks man. Very helpful.

I own a 2006 special e, but i believe is the same. Just follow the hose from the radiator to the thermostat. Good luck

Well done Camilo.

Nice Video !!! very clear image good resolution video.. What kind of camera are you using.. Thinking about making some how to videos..
I have question my thermostat has a rubber around it do you have to stick it in to the hole perfectly fit? I have nissan sentra 2000 1.8L
new thermostat will come with new gasket installed around thermostat, throw out old one!
Thanks.... Good day to you
This video explains alot but in my 2000 sentra theres something in the way (EGR valve?) how do I get that out the way!!
I own a 2006 special edition. I think is pretty similar. Just follow the hose come from the radiator
folks what he did not show is their is a way that it gopes in looks like you could put that in anyposition and your fine i should know been working on vehicles since 1978 even now fwd are a pain to workon but still i get the JOB done do you learn any thing about any thing here cos i sure didn't
always make sure to intall the thermostat with the little needle valve in the upward position...
just curious, what's physically wrong with the bad one? and do you have to put the bleed hole @ the top position? Just curious because the stock Nissan thermostat I took out says 'top' just next to the bleed hole... Or is it just saying it's the top of the thermostat lol.
thank u sir
Hi, I was just wondering what year and model your car was and if this works for older models? I have a 2003 XE. Thank you!
This is for the "coolant thermostat" correct? For possible smog check code P0128
Quick note...do not re used the coolant that dropped down under the car....that carries along all the dirt and debris the engine had on it and into the coolant lines and radiator...not good
Thanks for the reply

GOOD JOB
cool. Thanks
Ought him ZzSss_fees
How many thermostat sentra have? 2019
I getting p0128 code hope replacing thermostat shut off MIL.
Roger that. I love Canada
afte.r you pour the antifreeze ,in the radiator, you need to run the engine and maybe pour mm ore antifreeze
Distorted fish-eye lens makes me feel like I'm watching "Rosemary's Baby" on the Late, Late show. Higher quality video would really be nice...
Is that a 2.0L
helpful !
Thanks
Disculpa de que Año es tu Auto?
I just got quoted 180 bucks for a thermostat replacement..LOL
By scumbags like Midas, Firestone and others.
😳 got me dizzy
Thanks I thought there was something wrong with my eyes
You probably should add the year of the car, engine size, ect. This video is useless for a 1.6L 1999 Sentra for example.
I hate how stupid easy this is. Not so easy on a 2014 sentra. It us next to the alternator and starter under the intake manifold
Doing a video-and he puts the thermostat in backwards!? Tomorrow I'm posting a video on brain surgery.
what year and engine size 2.0 1.8 3.0
i believe that's a 1.8,that's what mine is,and it looks like my engine,probably a 2005-2006
Y para qué haces el video? Quieres que te observemos trabajar o qué rollo?
Are you a librarian ?
gopro hero 2. Thanks
Got a little dizzy
this is making me so dizzy
