    This is fantastic. It has the special Tyr feeling and sound! The interesting rythmic scheme really works well here. The classic Tyr choir which I love!

    Imagine a child who was born on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, in a country called Brazil, which has a completely different culture and customs... Suddenly he hears about Vikings and their great conquests... And at the height of his innocent adolescence, He starts to become obsessed with Norse culture and everything that involves their mythology and customs... hahaha I thought I could be a Viking! Tyr and Amon Amarth made me develop a strong affection for these people and all their history... at the time I learned to read in runes and spent hours reading and rereading the poetic eddas and the prose eddas... It was a very good time lol Adult life reminds me fondly of this phase! 🤩🤩

    I remember hearing this among the first things by Týr. It was that *I understand nothing but it's so catchy* feel. Gradually, it was this and your other similar tracks that got me into nordic folk and scandinavian poetry. Did not know it at the time, yet. It remains a powerful song and album🤘

    Always wondered what this song was about - I do recognize a few words here and there but I couldn´t grasp the meaning.

    • @Tyrband
      @Tyrband  2 года назад +1

      There is a longer plot in this ballad that is not borne out in the verses we have included here. The original ballad is much longer. Basically, royal intrigues in the court of medieval Norway.

    This is my favourite one. Where are the Lyrics from? Is it from the long Foroya Ballad?

    • @Tyrband
      @Tyrband  Год назад

      Thanks. Yes, Torsteins Kvæði is a longer Faroese ballad.

  • @eduardogondimsilva7851

    Can I find the translation anywhere?

    • @fourcrippledhorses
      @fourcrippledhorses 10 месяцев назад

      look up the name with "lyricstranslate" - their translations are generally decent on the english end, for helping you understand the song's contents. i have no idea how apt they are in regards to the Faroese, though.

      I am a heathen atheist, if that means anything. I don't believe that the gods exist in person, but I have great respect and regard for Nordic tradition.
