I run into that one a lot. Someone forgets to tighten the Air Intake Hose back up, and there you go, problems. I only charge a $20 minimum to show up (mobile mechanic), and if that's the problem, the $20 is all they owe me, and $0 put the Hose back right. Not everyone is honest. Honesty is my policy.
Also, my air intake 'SNORKEL' mid section was flipped and misaligned. I messed it up myself due to the access to the tensioning bands... but corrected by following the printing on the snorkel section and figured out properly. Also - I used a smoke machine from a fuel transfer pump and a cigar, rubber glove over the intake.
P0171 is for system lean, this code means there is a fuel ratio imbalance, unmeasured air or unmetered air, not calculated by the ECM fueling system ,entering the combustion chamber fuel air mixture, which can be caused by multiple fault conditions, such as a faulty sensors or manifold systems vacuum leaks, faulty valve or purge control solenoid.
@@Shxftyy3 need to know some specifications on your specific vehicle like year making and model but genuinely it’s like manual-models 650 + or -100 to automatic-models 700 + or -100 rpm, on (ej series engine). Switches To high rpm 800-RPM with A/C on or for power steering idle up circuit But, varies based on year make and model engine series.

I have a 2002 wrx and I was just casually driving and my check engine light came on and I had the code read and it was a po171 but I'm not sure where to location the vacuum hose
P0171 This code just means that there is unmetered air entering the system, there’s many possibilities of unmetered air, you need someone to smoke test the intake for leaks, it could be a vacuum leak or something else like a faulty valve.
I seen a lot of videos on RUclips with p0171 and p0440 none of them are correct about what's wrong with my car. It's not the air intake system. Trust me it's something that has to do with the fuel. I know that. It smells like gas when I start the car. And sometimes it has trouble starting like as if I'm out of fuel or as if the fuel pump's out. But it's a new fuel pump. And I have a full tank of gas. And the code that popped is p0440 and p0171. They came up at the same time. So it's not air or spark. Both of those codes have to do fuel. And I know because it smells like fuel when my car has trouble starting or when It has trouble starting. There's no visible gas leaks. So I need to find a video that's actually legit.
Sounds like you have a bad Evap system purge control solenoid, the DTC’s you have is for a Evap system fault, it could be stock open.,When it’s supposed to be closed Which would cause your symptoms.
Awesome how you quickly found the issue.
Thanks 👍
check the oil filler cap and (tube, sealing grommet if so designed). Also look at the PVC valve and connections. THESE were my recent finds!

My truck have 174 code and I Taken out with the PCV ignition
Let's disconnect this and make a video out of it

also: FOULED spark plugs/misfires can present as a lean condition.... and the system adds more fuel.... making it worse (loop)!
Code randomly came on for me car drives fine bouta go see if something is loose
Got the same problem, engine runs fine but the code comes up

i got bank 1 & 2 running lean but there's no leaks and nothing is loose, but my idle is at 1k when should be at 600-700

That’s an easy diag lol

Does not a misfire equal unburned fuel leaving in the exhaust cycle? That's my understanding
Workmanship issues means what? The manufacturer botched it or a mechanic?
Mechanic. Owner probably got something else looked at and mechanic likely forgot to secure it properly once finished.
Don't be obtuse. What he's saying is it is not component failure. I bet you're fun at parties
My Vehicle has P0171 and P2195
Haha I saw it before you mentioned it
😮 that's terrible!
