Homeowners insurance policies are contracts and you would have to read the contract to determine whether a person who owns the house or who lives in the house is covered when that person is injured in the house. Normally the answer is no, that the owner of the house and the family members who live there are excluded from coverage in the event they are injured in the house. If someone else is injured in the house ordinarily the homeowner's policy will provide a few thousand dollars of medical payments coverage for the injured person, let's say a friend or a relative who comes and visits, regardless who's at fault. Also, if a lawsuit is brought against the homeowner, the homeowner's insurance company will defend and provide coverage to the homeowner but if the homeowner is injured the homeowner will not be entitled to any monetary benefits from that insurance policy in most cases.
