Drove my Passport from Ontario Canada to Florida 2 weeks ago. It was fully loaded for my 5 month stay and it performed flawlessly. The lane mitigation becomes a pain with the wheels vibrating so I disarmed it and some of the other safety items can become a nuisance so you can fiddle around with them but this is a great SUV. Glad I bought it.
@@justchillin6117 funny story. I got a 2019 Passport Sport then traded it in for a 2020 Passport EXL to get more features. I definitely love the vehicle and have been able to get good deals, no problems! Definitely look at EXL trim though, best value for money in my opinion

Passport starts with sport trim not LX and that’s why passport starting price is more than Pilot. If you compare same trim levels, Pilot has a higher price tag.
I like the passport look more. It looks more sport type and aggressive. Also in my opinion if the took so ideas of the interior layout from the new accord like the display and steering wheel than it would look amazing. Who else agrees?

Finally, it's been pointed out how in-built sat nav is all but obsolete!!!! since everyone has a smartphone. Even in 2016 when I worked as a car salesperson for a short while, I heard talk about manufacturers doing away with it, and we were even told to overcome customers' objections to the car not having it by saying, "you've got a smartphone...?" Smart phones are light years ahead of car sat navs.
I don’t think onboard navigation is unnecessary........if you are somewhere without cell signal, your phone nav is useless. There are still big areas without cell signal believe it or not. I drive through 2 big dead zones on my way to work, and I live on outskirts of Louisville.
The Active Cruise Control will cut out at 20mph or under. At that speed, you should be paying attention. But the Braking Mitigation will kick in if you dont stop soon enough.
It's the "Honda Style". I guess it's easier for the designers to come up with something. I noticed the trend when the new Accord came out. I wasn't a big fan of the "bigger Civic" look.
The 1.5-T4-255 hp would work right ? Save around 100lbs of weight, and better gas mileage. I mean just make it one motor option. 15 hp less, and 30 more torque. Its based off the accord anyway right.
I have a 21 elite awd. The adaptive cruise control works great now. I wish I could have the option of 18 inch rims for beefier tires. Instead of having to pay twice for rims and tires to get what I want.
This was a fantastic review!! Right on Micah!! Yes I want one but the first thing I would do is put some Ridgeline 18" wheels and tires on and add a transmission cooler. The reality is I want a daily driver that I can still navigate some mellow gravel roads and go camping. Nothing wild. just old school throw a tent in the back and go. I like your review style!! Not sure why someone would buy a passport tbh. The CR-V gets 10MPG higher with better style and value. The Pilot has a 3rd row of seats and available panoramic moonroof. And if you really want a 2-row midsize suv, the Grand Cherokee, Chevrolet Blazer, & Ford Edge are unbeatable.
my stereo has been a problem from the start. it takes 2 minutes to load car play, if it does load or you have to shut your car off to reset really disappointed this was my 4th Honda not sure about a 5th
Yep, in my 3 month old, 2WD Touring, it felt "glitchy" at times. Kinda settled down now. But on Passport Forum, some have had bad fails. Hoping mine does well in time. Fun ride, I'm enjoying it. I came out of a '15 Highlander. peace, e.
I absolutely love my Passport! I take it offroading and camping. It handles the abuse like a champ! Well, it's not quite the same Passport...mine is a 1999, a bit more suited for harder trails

My dad has the 2022 CR-V and it's nothing like a 2012 CR-V. Could someone compare 2012-2016 CR-V's vs. Passports in general? I don't like newer cars' aggressive torque takeoffs, it seems like it jerks you around and burns gas for no reason (when they're claiming fuel efficiency...). I want a car which won't 'fight' you to pull you back into lanes, but also stops when a human jumps out in front of the car, but a car which you can fully feel and control, like the old CR-V's. Is the Passport this?

@Jonathan On the surface, I fully agree with you (TLX V6 owner here). But this most recent version in the Passport handles much better from previous versions. Honda really has improved the darned thing. I also read somewhere that the new versions will typically start in second gear unless a heavy load is detected, reducing the number of shifts during everyday driving.

My 2wd, Touring comes with the acoustically improved windshield/windows. My Passport is very quiet inside. Plus, I kinda crank the 550w stereo, SO, I ain't hearing nothing else, LOL.

If towing capacity is a consideration when comparing those two go with the passport. The Passport can tow between 3,500 and 5,000 pounds with its V6, while the RDX, like it's CR-V cousin, can only tow 1,500 pounds, with its 4-cylinder turbo. Having driven both of them, I can say the RDX handles better, feels more sporty, and has a cooler sunroof. But the Honda is more practical if you actually plan to take it adventuring, especially with its much larger cargo capacity (almost double that of the RDX).
guitarsunplugged The passport is more practical. I think it has better infotainment although graphics not so good. RDX despite it’s awful infotainment, for about the same price I might consider it.
joe TheBet I think you are comparing 2 diff categories. RDX is going to be smaller but sportier (and the new one in Rspec look good!) but if you want practicality with a kind ish luxury interior get a Passport. We have a EX-L and we love it

I’m still trying to decide between the Murano, Passport, Blazer, RDX, Sante Fe, RAV4 Hybrid, or CRV. There are too many options😁The gas mileage on the Passport is not good. 😒
Kenny Sanders you have logical choice. The midsize 2 row class can often overlap/compete with both the compact suv class and the compact lux class that you have represented by the rav and the rdx. The ravs segment can step on the passport’s segments by virtue of value and not making a large sacrifice on space. OTOH when you start to add options on this midsize class the price rubs up against RDX money. That’s why unless you’re Jeep I find this segment a little lackluster. If it were up to me I’d avoid the Chevy and Honda. Look hard at the Sante fe, rdx and rav. I hope I helped narrow it down so that you can chose among what suits you best. Toyota will give you the best value, Acura will give you the most premium experience and the sante fe is sized like the passport and murano but is a way better value.

I really like the Passport, but if they want to sell a bunch of them they should make a few modifications. 1) Better gas mileage 2) Normal shift lever 3) Fog lights, turn signals - look like an afterthought. Integrate them into the design 4) I don't miss the chrome, but they could expand the vehicle's color a bit in the front. 5) 18" and 19" wheel options

My friend has a 2019 Honda CRV and said once coasting downhill the adaptive cruise control stopped working. She was lucky to brake quickly. Wtf?
@Jonathan my concern is that this is a permanent fault, because she said adoptive cruise control works on normal occasions.

Yes, you can have no CC, "regular" CC, or the ACC. He's right, the ACC is kinda jerky, I either turn it off or use the "regular" CC.

My Ridgeline rear doors don't open very wide also
The Honda Pilot platform has never had wide opening rear doors, even when it first came out in the early 2000's

I’m still trying to decide between the Murano, Passport, Blazer, RDX, Sante Fe, RAV4 Hybrid, or CRV. There are too many options😁The gas mileage on the Passport is not good. 😒

Kenny Sanders you have logical choice. The midsize 2 row class can often overlap/compete with both the compact suv class and the compact lux class that you have represented by the rav and the rdx. The ravs segment can step on the passport’s segments by virtue of value and not making a large sacrifice on space. OTOH when you start to add options on this midsize class the price rubs up against RDX money. That’s why unless you’re Jeep I find this segment a little lackluster. If it were up to me I’d avoid the Chevy and Honda. Look hard at the Sante fe, rdx and rav. I hope I helped narrow it down so that you can chose among what suits you best. Toyota will give you the best value, Acura will give you the most premium experience and the sante fe is sized like the passport and murano but is a way better value.

I really like the Passport, but if they want to sell a bunch of them they should make a few modifications.
1) Better gas mileage
2) Normal shift lever
3) Fog lights, turn signals - look like an afterthought. Integrate them into the design
4) I don't miss the chrome, but they could expand the vehicle's color a bit in the front.
5) 18" and 19" wheel options
I just don’t understand the appeal of black wheels. Touring trim Adventure Package A for me!
lol literally less than .005% of Passport owners (or SUV owners who own anything other than Jeeps and vintage Land Rovers) will ever take them anywhere other than paved roads and parking lots.
