Same here , I'm binging as many episodes as I can . I watched it as a teen but I didn't appreciate the chemistry between Karl Malden and Michael Douglas as I was too busy thinking how gorgeous Steve was . I'm in Australia and I love seeing all the city sights etc. I even google things to see if they still exist.
Your great too Michael, that show holds up like few do partly because of your humble acting and the relationship/brotherhood that you expressed with Karl. To me it's up there with The Soprano's, for real
Karl Malden's CLASSIC LINE from the movie Patton, 'I do military attacks because it's my job. You -- Patton -- do miliary attacks because You Enjoy It.", is something I WILL NEVER FORGET.
I loved Streets of San Francisco and have followed both of these men's careers. I have a special affinity for Karl as he is so like my late Father-in-law. Karls scene in the West Wing when he is a priest telling a story to the president, is exactly how my Father-in-law would have told that story. They also looked alike.
For such an iconic series of the '70s, one produced by the respected, independent producer of one-hour dramas, Quinn Martin, Jared surely could have elicited from Michael half a dozen other pertinent anecdotes and facts about his tenure on "The Streets of San Francisco." For instance:. The aspects of shooting entirely on a distant location, being away from L.A. and working a six-day week. The inclusion of Darleen Carr in the recurring role of Karl's daughter Jeannie, a student at Arizona State Univ. All the enormously successful and appealing guest stars -- a hallmark of a Quinn Martin produced series. The rigors of shooting the fourth season's 'Trail of Terror' with guest stars Meg Foster and James Woods in a scenic yet rugged, rural, forest location that easily put Michael and Meg into one of their more challenging roles, physically -- handcuffed together and frantically evading on foot the psychotic Navy man (Woods) determined to shoot them both from afar [ed. - Wow!]. Michael discusses he and Karl 'testing' together [clearly it worked]. It was SUCH a good pairing, was there the SLIGHTEST chance he would have delayed "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" a year so as to give producer Quinn Martin a fifth season, vital for syndication and a sure-fire treat for fans of "Streets"? He's SORELY missed in year five. He and JoAnn Harris made an appealing, believable couple in year two's 'Victims' where viewers are introduced to Connie (Harris) his girl friend who can't quite accept the gunplay and life-or-death aspects his profession as a detective entails. Unfortunately for regular viewers it's just a one-shot for Harris, but yet in a subsequent episode Karl inquires of him about Connie [ed. - a nice touch, maintaining a sense of continuity and familiarity]. SO, what killed a repeat guest shot by Harris, OR another female guest star, to recur as a love interest, surely with input by Michael and Karl? "Thank you, 'thecoolidge.' Liked what we saw; so naturally we'd like more!"
Yes, he is. He spoke highly about Karl though he disagreed with his politics and his support of Elia Kazan ratting out the communists during the red scare.
too bad Marlon Brando didn't do one of The Streets of Frisco. They could have recreated that famous scene in On The Waterfront, "remember that night in the garden, bla bla bla?" it would have been a classic, oh well
I wish Kirk Douglas did an episode with Michael and Kirk. Kirk could've played Inspector Keller's (Michael Douglas) father or a friend and classmate of Lieutenant Stone's (Karl Malden) under investigation for a murder but he's innocent
Changing one's birth name is disrespectful & unnecessary. This also applies to people who drop their last birth name. It's esp true if it's done for the anticipation of greater recognition & or financial gain. It's like selling-out, to perhaps an Agent or Studio Mogul, while at the same time being ashamed of their Father.
Yea, because you know who Marion Robert Morrison, Roy Harold Scherer Jr, Vera Jayne Palmer, Norma Jeane Mortenson, Carlos Estevez, Ramón Antonio Gerardo Estévez, and Eric Marlon Bishop are all by these names, without looking them up, which we know you will hypocrite. Just stfu.
Like you know who Marion Robert Morrison, Roy Harold Scherer Jr., Vera Jayne Palmer, Norma Jean Baker, Carlos Irwin Estévez, Ramón Antonio Gerardo Estévez, and Eric Marlon Bishop are just by these names alone, without even looking them up, which is what we all know you will do hypocrite. So s:t:f:u:

I'm watching the show now and loving it, the chemistry between them is great. And so many cool guest appearances as well.
To me, the show could have gone on for many more years!❤

Legendary series and one of the best of the 70's police shows - Karl was utter class and his and Michael's relationship and chemistry was so great.
One of my favorite TV law enforcement shows.
Great show blessed with good chemistry between Karl & Michael. Love seeing SF back then!
I want more of their stories, they were so good together!
I heartily concur !

Completely agree. First-rate writing and perfect no-nonsense acting.

What a great show the streets was I remember the first show Robert Wagner guest starred.
The pilot episode
Excellent series and actor's 😁👏👏👏
They T.V. movies of the streets of San Francisco as same Michael Douglas doing Basic Instint in the early 90's.
The best first cope series i saw. The dynamic between Carl and Michael is incredible
Wonderful interview. Thanks for sharing with us ! They had great screen chemistry !
THANKS for posting this. A great look back at a great series!

Karl Malden (Mladen Sekulovich) was a great actor and human being! 🙏
I agree 100 per cent !!
great actors and one of the greatest tv series ever !!! great to see they were good friends till Karl´s death !
I certainly have a notion to second THAT emotion!
I have been watching The Streets of San Francisco on youtube this afternoon. It was a great partnership and a great series.
I am watching Reruns of Streets of San Francisco on RUclips. BOTH OF THESE CLASSIC ACTORS MAKE STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO HEAVENLY.
So great, my two favorite! Thank you & God Bless Karl Malden 💖 He was amazing! 🕊 God Bess you too Michael 🌉!! 😃
Look buddy boy...
I am watching the show now. I enjoyed it so much and I love the relationship between Mike and Steve. Such a bond even with a big age gap.
I love Karl Malden
I love the Streets of San Francisco! One of the BEST shows ever and best music too!!! Thanks Michael and Karl for your work!

You can see in the pilot movie, at the beginning, he looked pissed and was shaking his head at how Michael was driving
❤the street of San Francisco 😅Mike stone was my favourite character 😅superb acting👌
I just learned that Kirk and Karl were friends before Michael started working with him on TSoSF
A joke I heard on the radio in the 70's,
"Where does Karl Malden take his handkerchief to get cleaned?"
"The car wash"
Dios te bendiga,eres tan guapo!!!
And now he’s in Karl’s position.
Yes, he is. He spoke highly about Karl though he disagreed with his politics and his support of Elia Kazan ratting out the communists during the red scare.
They T.V. movie of the streets of San Francisco in the early 90's, but Michael Douglas had turned it down.
Actors really drove the cars i thought a trailer is hooked up or they use green screen .
too bad Marlon Brando didn't do one of The Streets of Frisco. They could have recreated that famous scene in On The Waterfront, "remember that night in the garden, bla bla bla?" it would have been a classic, oh well
ha! THAT would have been great altho Rod Steiger would probably have been better, given he was the guy in the back seat of the taxi
I wish Kirk Douglas did an episode with Michael and Kirk. Kirk could've played Inspector Keller's (Michael Douglas) father or a friend and classmate of Lieutenant Stone's (Karl Malden) under investigation for a murder but he's innocent
@@dancastro6873 great idea, altho for Kirk I think it might have thought it was a come down from Spartacus. I'm
just guessing
ha! your right it was Steiger
Or do an homage to One Eyed Jacks. Great great movie.
Karl Malden was a humble icon and a legend. Too bad younger generations don’t know about his extraordinary talent
Karl died same week as Michael Jackson I think,
He went to change his underwear? Who wears underwear maybe in those days!

Ps. I'm a " Retro" girl & still watch The Streets of SF lol! Of course I did live there in the 70s 🌉 😃
