- At a Paley Center event on September 12, 2019, Michael Douglas reflects on his close relationship with Karl Malden when making their '70s TV series The Streets of San Francisco.
When i was a kid in San Francisco they were filming streets of SF in my neighborhood. Micheal douglas walked right past a gang of us kids begging for an autograph. Karl Malden asked us where the nearest grocery store was. We pointed up the street a couple of short blocks away. Karl Malden said who wants ice cream? We screamed with delight! Karl Malden walked our ragged little group up to the store and bought ice cream bars for all of us and himself. He then sat down on the ground with us in his costume trenchcoat and hat. He asked each one of us how old we were and where we went to school. Words cannot describe how magical that was to us kids that day. After that we all hated Michael Douglas and worshipped Karl Malden!😊
Not surprised. Seemed like a class act who never forgot where he came from...
Great story ❤ I am down the Karl Malden rabbithole at the moment 😂 thanks for posting 😊
Great story
For Michael, Karl will always be a mentor and very close friend (like a father). I saw so many interviews and it´s always fascinating how he talk about him. 😊
Karl Malden was an amazing actor I like watching stuff with him and of course I love "The Streets of San Francisco" 🥰 but my all time favorite actor was and still is Michael. 🙈
Karl Malden is a legendary icon. Too bad the younger generations don’t know what talent is.
*Where is the Grey’s Anatomy S19 panel?!?!?!*
