  • The 1st "Barre Chord Song" that I suggest to my students when they eventually reach that step in thier Guitar journey. Because the B Minor Barre Chord is the 1st Chord of this songs Chord progression and then followed by 2 very easy Chords. It is a great place to start so that the student can focus on that chord each time the progression repeats. Rather than playing 3 difficult new Chords. The students only has to focus on one! Also because it is being picked it gives the student a few secends to prepare the fingers on the higher strings while the right hand is still picking the lower strings. Where as with strumming there would have been no time for the left hand to catch up... Hope you guys enjoy!

    I too would like to mirror what Mr. Dave F said about how well this video is put together. Certainly one of the best formats on RUclips. I tend to look at the multitude of how to play videos and choose one that I can comprehend, then compare to the original artist. Yours looks to be spot on. Additionally your t-shirt caught my attention, so I have to ask. I recognize the Zia sun symbol (raised in New Mexico), but a search for The Blind Sun Rise netted nothing, and the box 7 has me puzzled as well. A band you are in? Carry on with much respect!

      Thanks for appreciating the work! I try to be as accurate as possible. Unless a position change just makes it more comphortable to play. And yes, The Blind Sunrise is a funk rock band I am in. Which is currently on break coz our singer is ill and the drummer moved away. We're from South Africa. Apparently 7 has to do with a divine number or something. I have no idea about the box lol. The bassist was experimenting with psychedelics when he came up with it.

      @@MGM261 , the internet has made this world so much smaller. Though I have never been to or interacted with the people of South Africa, I have come to believe that you all rock! I follow another small band from your area you might be familiar with The Soap Girls. I love that we can connect through the power of music. The sun symbol in the logo comes from a North American indigenous tribe that is named Zia, and has a Pueblo about 80 kilometers south of where I grew up. The sun symbol was a sacred symbol for their people. So the 7 makes sense. I shall continue to look through your work so that some day I too will be a great musician, and not a “roadie”.

      That's interesting. I wonder if he even knows where it really comes from. I'll be sure to bring it up next time I see him.

      @@MGM261 I feel the tip jar is a much more efficient and accurately targeted method of supporting artists such as yourself.
      I learn individual songs from many more artists than I could possibly support as a patreon member (maybe 50?)-and quite happy to contribute for the service…thx!

    Awesome job with this vid! It should come up higher on the list, cause you have a better view of where your holding the strings than the others who do this, with this song. I think its the best one (vid for this song) yet. I started guitar in my early 20s on acoustic. didn't make it far. Life. Over the years, i still had that passion to one day, be at least decent at playing guitar. 4-5 years ago, i picked up an electric, combo amp, and then built up a few more things, and a couple more guitars from there. Been playing quite a lot (almost every day) for the past few years. RockSmith has been keeping me in the game. That was the best purchase i could have made. i still suck, but sucking much less now, compared to 3-4 years ago. RockSmith is a huge help. youtube is good for when you need to see things you cant see on RockSmith (an actual person playing, and all that). I'm at about 60% with this song on RockSmith. This video will help me get over some of those humps. My biggest problem with guitar, is my memory, "It Sucks". Memory makes a very big difference. I've played this song probably about 200 times on RockSmith. Some songs almost double that. I've played "Pour Some Sugar on me" so much, I actually got to 100% (still a bit sloppy, but good enough to fool RockSmith lol) , But i still can't play through the song, without RockSmith. You'd think after playing a song 3 or 4 hundred times, you'd be able to go play it on your own (for frens, fam, othr). That's how bad memory impacts guitar learning. So for others out there with, less than average memory. Don't give up. It may take 3 or 4, or 5 times longer to get there than others do. But it's still fun, and worth it.
    Thanks for doing this! Your vid deservers way more attention (views/likes/comments). I'll share the link on other similar posts, to help you, and help others learn this song.

      Thank you very much! I'm glad the video helps! I have been curious about Rocksmith myself. It looks like fun & I think that it is a great way to learn. Thanks for sharing your inspiring story. Great to see others also share the same passion for guitar! 🎸

    This is so good! What is the strumming pattern from 0,54? The guitars are played in triplets right? This makes it a bit confusing for me, thanks !

    • @MGM261
      @MGM261  Год назад +1

      Do you mean:
      ⬇⬇ ⬆⬇⬆ ⬇⬇ ⬆⬇⬆
      down down, up down up (x2)

      @@MGM261 Yes! Still not sure, when I see the video, it looks like down,down - down,up,down,up - down? Like: 12 - 1234-5 and on “4” it changes from G to an A right? Like it changes in the middle of the strumming? But when Bm is played it’s not changed in the middle of the strumming? Between Bm and G I don’t understand the transition is between these two ? Thank you :)

    • @MGM261
      @MGM261  Год назад +3

      Bm
      Down down, up down up, Down Down, up down up
      G
      Down down, up down up
      A
      Down Down, up down up.
      The tricky part here is the down strum that follows the "up down up" triplet. It is the same length as the triplets and needs to be played immediately. So it gives off kind of an illusion. The same way a chord progression can mess with someone if it starts and ends with the same chord. But its just the pattern repeating itself as soon as the triplet ends.

    nice content and delivery! was curious re: your signal chain? (from Guitar to output of DAW...)

    • @MGM261
      @MGM261  Год назад +1

      Thanks! I usually record the guitar through a USB interface. A Behringer UMC 22. Reaper(DAW) records a naked (dry) signal which sounds very plain but then I just add the effects after the fact using BIAS FX2.
