To each their own, it's about preference. Mercedes is geared towards luxury & to be seen, BMW is more subtle & geared towards performance, yet both can be pretty costly. Personally, i like the Beamer.

I've always loved the M-Sport Series but never liked that it was only available as a manual. That does not seem to be the case now. Where I live and traffic is every heavy and most times bumper to bumper, a manual transmissioned vehicle is trying on the nerves. So the M-Sport (Individual model) would be my first choice followed by 750 AWD and then the 740 AWD. With Individual model, I definitely would load it up with all kinds of beautiful features. Go hard or go home.

  • @ZarlockGE

Regarding your question, I would take the BMW Individual version. Mainly because I couldn't live without that stunning exterior color, almandine brown metallic. Besides that…well, full merino leather interior of course, and basically all other options as well. Because if you buy such a car, why miss out on anything it can offer?

Going for individual. Send it to TAC in Texas(armory). Suite the individual series as a long range touring sedan for my parents. Let them buy their own fun little vehicle hahaha - they have to let me use it when I visit the states.

Let me be one of the first commenters to welcome BMW to the MotoManTV show! Welcome, you gonna love it here . . . :)

Well, I'm speechless M! I don't know what to say... Been anxiously looking forward to an episode with a BMW for years & what car better to day view BMW on the show than this Masterpiece !

Who would've thought we'd have Carbon Fiber structural components in a mass production car so soon? CF is still expensive to manufacture & still by all means an exotic material... BMW is on the right track with the Carbon Core philosophy.

    Exterior Design wise,
I think this is one of the most beautiful modern BMWs ever made... I'm not saying its perfect, there's few things I'd change, but otherwise everything is tip top ... I give it a solid 92/100 in my book.
What do you think of the design now you finally saw it in person?
    Interior Design wise,
I was hoping for it to start a new era in BMW's interior design language & breakaway from their current mold ... Sorta like the Bangle7 E65, it was a complete departure from the E38. The G11 interior design is an evolution of the F01 interior ...
I'm not saying I don't like it or I'm disappointed, on the contrary... I think my expectations were a bit different though. Anyway, I like the interior & in the post W222-era they did everything by the book, what looks like xx is actually xx & feels like it.
I LOVE the SkyLounge (the best execution of a headliner since Rolls' StarLight) ... Alongside the ambient lighting & Doorframe-mounted LEDs ... With the right lighting setup, it will be frickin incredible during the night .... Just wow!

    Okay configuration time!
I'll have an RWD 750Li Individual Manufaktur (sits above the "regular" Individual) & it will be spec'd as follow:
    - Porsche's Platinum Silver (or BMW's Moonstone Metallic) for an exterior color with the new Individual wheels.
    - Merino Leather in Platinum or Champion with a black Alcantara headliner & The Yachtline veneer from the 760Li Yachtline concept. (The Black Braided Leather trim is tempting though) ... The veneers are carryover from F01, I wish they would've introduced more stuff ... Other from the usual Walnut, Poplar, Piano & Silver Aluminum.
    - SkyLounge & the highest B&W speakers option
    - The M-Sport's upgraded suspension.
    - The Rear Fridge ... Because, why not?
Two options I won't have are:
    - ExecutiveLounge, I don't need executive rear seats, I'll drive my self thank you very much.
    - The Rear Screens, No Netflix For You (Insert Soup Nazi photo here)

As for the why? Because I'm broken like that lol . . . ;)

As always, another excellent episode M!

I'd buy the 740i Msport since its rwd and lighter, with the autobahn package, display key, carbon black exterior, cognac nappa leather and the 19" rims for a better ride and less unsprung weight. and id get the bower and wilkins sound system for when iim driving around town. Love the 7 series, I've owned a German spec 750i and it was wonderful to drive.

I would get the Individual. At that price point, there should be no problem spending that extra to have a bespoke car, at a much cheaper price than a Royce. That being said, Porsche cars are pretty much BTO too although the individual options are much great in the 7 series.

Good job on the presentation of the new 7series. I was shocked and pissed that the US government hasn't allowed for the garage parking and laser lightening in this car. These are just a few of the features which I want. I currently drive a 2014 5 series diesel which I love, and now it looks as if, I'll have to wait to get the features I desire in a new 7 series. Carbon black metallic with the M-sport, dynamic handling, and the executive package... but for 6K more, I could get a fully loaded M5 with carbon ceramic brakes, which is what I would really do...
What I will be doing is the new 340i xDrive with the M package and premium enhanced package, primarily because BMW stills gives us manual transmissions in their saloons and as far as I know, nobody else does!

In answer to your question: I would go for the Individualized BMW.
Because, if I were to (be able to) pay that much money, I would want it *exactly* the way I want it.
And that would mean: Full Option (most likely). BTW: living in the EU grants access to the full potential of BMW technology: no need to wait until regulations catch up, especially on the new additional safety features.

  • @michaelschneider-

Appreciate BMW for showing off the naked chassis details. The 7 series, MB's S Class, Audi A8 and othersin the segment are big vehicles; weighing less by the minute... Are there manufactures over doing the "tech" aspect somewhat. Its most of the high brow tech lost on Mrs. Winestein? Nice cars and if you must; Make my BMW 7 in Stone Grey metallic (LY7U Porsche) with black leather everywhere. PS., the Audi S8 is long in the tooth . . . .

  • @georgess01

You threw in at the end that the m-sport version has a better suspension than the non m-sport but I don’t believe that is accurate at all. As far as I’ve read, it gets you some “m”s with different wheels and black where the chrome ought to go.

A 7 series must be a business not a sport car! However i would take an individual with all the M sport technical options such as suspension so i would look as a normal businessman but being able to compete with sport version of the car. And offcourse for me it would be a black or pearl white coulour.

Does that mean there is a SIM card in that key and the car also has one inside?

Why is the U.S. so slow on approving the new features?

What do you think of BMW reliability in the USA. My understanding is they intentionally replace parts that should be metal with plastic causing severe problems from 50k miles on. I'm looking at either a 2016 Honda Accord or a 2010 BMW 328i but I don't want a money pit either.
