Good detailed review. It is annoying that you never look into the camera. Consider moving your reading material so it's in line with the camera. Keep going, your a good reviewer.
As an owner of the RP-15M, I strongly suggest investigating the issues with Klipsch powered speakers. The internal amps have lots of failures, and if you intend to keep your speakers for many years, buy unpowered speakers and use an external amp. The internal boards are covered with epoxy and goop that make them almost impossible to repair.
The JBL speakers definitely sound more realistic. They probably sound very close to the Elac Debut Reference 6.2 which is also - guess what - sold at the same price, $699 at Crutchfield. Thanks for the video.
Haven’t heard the JBLs. I own 1st gen Klipsch. Take the drivers out and line the inner cabinet with sound deadening and 1inch foam. Huge upgrade. Bigger tighter bass, and all around cleaner sound. Amazon have them for $275. Unbeatable value after the upgrade.
Great review. Btw is it possible that one day you review Insignia bookshelf speakers, I’m kind of curious to wonder if it’s worth it or not since I don’t see many review videos talk about it or go into more depth about it. That would be nice to see.
Thanks for the nice video, AVO. I’d love to spend some time with those JBL. Got to be more plug and play than the Klipsch. Took every trick in the book to dail in my RP-600M II. The juice was worth the squeeze, in the end. But, they are fussy. Sounds like you’d dig a nice leather wrapped pair of SF. I’ll keep an eye for that future video. I got to pick out and run 4 big JBL’s, for a dance club, in college…about 100 yrs ago. 😂They did a fine job. I liked the 4 901’s and two massive subs at a bar gig too. Those were the days. Now…it’s Saturday night. I’ve got an ice cold six-pack of Molson 🇨🇦 and some 54-40 to spin. Catch you on the B-Side.🍻
I've always been a JBL fan (going back to the early 80's) and my best friend is a die hard Klipsch fan. Both companies have always been winners, but in my opinion JBL has always beat out Klipsch by a slight margin when comparing competing products
that klipsch tweeter is not in the center of the horn?? that wide lens wild things haha klipsch being shouty nasal shrill as always. i know, i have a pair of rb 61ii. i dont really like for music.. using some paradigms and monitor audio now
I love the sound of my 7.1 setup. the fanboys can keep their clips. My 698's have a 1" horn tweeter, 6" mid and two 8" woofers. My 665c has a 1" horn tweeter and four 5-1/4 woofers. Then I have four of these 630's for surrounds. They're amazing for movies and music. Better than the Signature Polks I had before that.
Still love my JBL towers from 1981 (they were $500 at the time). P.S. I'm not going to type in the name of the speakers from your last video, ... so there.
Yeop, still too small for companies to send me review samples. Just hit 500 sub today, just going to keep at it and hopefully soon I will get big enough that they will send me reviews samples I and don't need to keep buying and returning things.
The JBL has too much horn coloration. I used them both nearfield and standard listening. They never sounded like a neutral or coherent sound source. More like a cheap PA speaker with the cupped hands effect. I had some, and got rid of them. I'm pretty sure klipsch made it clear that the woofers are aluminum with a ceramic coating. Never saw any reference to being the metal copper. The 500MII are better speakers than the 600MII in terms of everything except bass. That's what subs are for.
100% you do you! For me though, sitting with them both hooked up to the same receiver switching back and fourth between the two I like the JBL sound better. I do admit the Klipsch is easier to drive because of their higher efficiency.
I have to agree the JBL is much better more people have the Klipsch a lot will be hurt. Good speakers too but between the compression driver and the Klipsch horn the JBL takes it
…..I, at this point, don’t particularly care for either one. The Klipsch, imo can only be tamed by tube amplification, its heightened sensitivity has it screaming almost all the time. The quality at these inflationary times is woefully unbalanced away from consumers, to the point where I know building my own and going bi-amp/electronic crossover will get me the high-end performance I know I really want. For example, Paradigm Persona B, but nowhere near $8 grand.
There is no way an audiophile or even a melomane would prefer the JBL sound. JBL = smile face EQ and there is nothing "natural or neutral" about it. Cabinet resonance with the Klipsch??? :)
JBL targets the Harman curve, which is slightly raised bass and a small dip in the midrange and a very small rise in the treble. This is a curve that 90 percent of people find sound good, you are correct, it is not accurate, but Harman (I don't think) is targeting audiophiles with these speakers. They are trying to appeal to the masses. And yes, the cabinet on the JBL is built better than the Klipsch and when listened to side by side you can hear some resonance coming from the Klipsch.
I have very defining demands on treble, and midrange performance being specifically tube powered in light of such poor present day recording, and mastering. Levels and compression are beyond stupid, and there’s way too much darn screaming going on into those poor microphones. Present-day music is, for lack of a better word, complete horse-💩. Sad, but unfortunately true.
Most music I have heard in the past 20 years has MAYBE 3db of DR. So much overproduced and autotuned robotic/vanilla dreck. It's the opposite of what Alan Parsons and other giants of the past achieved.
I was wondering how long it would take til I got a comment saying this. I actually have an eye condition that makes that difficult. Maybe soon I should make a video explaining my condition possibly as part of a "Who is AV-Obsessed" video.

I struggle to look into the camera because I have an eye condition.

I had the JBL's. In person, the horn coloration is very prominent. They sound more like a small PA speaker than fidelity.
Got the same RP600m with all the upgrades, sound deadening, xover with miflex and sounds better now
@@juy3541 haven’t touched the xover. Do you have a link to the mod?
😮keine Frage bei mir in🇩🇪. Die rp600 mk2 gibt es für 400€/paar. Jbl 795-855,€/paar.🤔🤔🤔
Have used JBL for my surround sound for years love them also enjoy the channel and subscribed
End-of-video challenge: M Design Eleganza 5.1! Hope it helps 🙂

Maybe I'll take a look at those after the Elac and Martin Logan reviews.
Cool thanks! 👍

JBL sounds way better.... Klipsch sounds tinny, JBL has more detail, more meat and a wider soundstage
that klipsch tweeter is not in the center of the horn?? that wide lens wild things haha
klipsch being shouty nasal shrill as always. i know, i have a pair of rb 61ii. i dont really like for music.. using some paradigms and monitor audio now
My own experience with klipsch speakers is that they are revealing of amps and sources, even as they are not neutral.
The Klipsch fanboys bout to eat you alive 😆

Of low cost horns?
My problem with your soundclips - 1. You should have removed the unused speaker. 2. You should have displayed on screen which video is playing.
The 530 is a way more refined balanced speaker
Still love my JBL towers from 1981 (they were $500 at the time).

I hope you don’t have to buy review samples anymore. I like your way of reviewing samples of this highly subjective hobby.

interesting, I wonder how the droves of people who own the rp-600m will react to this

Why are you missleading? RP600 is NOT a HORN!! It is a wave guide. Please do check it out what is a design and characteristic of a proper horn.
Does it matter if the OVERALL sound is better on the JBL's? Btw the RP-600M II feature a hybrid tractrix horn.
