Don't let this idiot waste you time--there's nothing here but an unboxing and a lot of rambling nonsense--this is NOT a review!
Thank you for making this review with a demo included and not just a solo demo, but a comparison demo. It seems like there are not a lot of actual demos to hear the Qseries. I have heard the r series and based off of that, I ordered the Q11s and Q6 center.
curious as to why you have your center mounted above your t.v., why not just raise the tv since it looks to be on a stand mount and have the center more ear level on the console
Andrew Jones is master class at making crossovers...His cheaper speakers get less quality components but still sound great. His high end speakers really shine and out perform speakers well above their price range. Been a fan of Andrew Jone speakers since the Pioneer BS22s $100.00 pair at Best Buy years ago...Price to performance is were Andrew Jones is KING!!!
Nice review! Thanks for sharing.
Dude I cautioned you about your Obsession about banana plugs. Nobody buys speakers based upon binding posts. As I mentioned previously... there's a reason why they call them 5 way binding posts. If I treasure a particular speaker, I'm an audiophile and will figure out a secure connection to my IotaVX amp. Your incessant fascination with this obscure feature leads to make me believe that you are on the spectrum. So you have content that compels me to watch your channel like the gear that you explore...but I'm unsubscribing because you refuse to listen and adapt to your audience. Adios Amigo...good luck ruminating about banana plugs.
i have been considering the ubr62 but i am not sure, i do not really trust the front port. that usually kills base. the same with the ub52. the elacs prevous to this one all have front port.
KEF Concerto Meta vs ELAC Unifi UB5 (both 3 way speakers and both 4 ohms impedance).
It has been a long time since I heard the UB52 and it was not in my own room but I think the UB52 is a much warmer sounding speaker.
How do these ELAC compare to the RP600 (vii)?
I have both in house so I may be doing that as a full comparison review soon.
@ perfect. Look forward to the video
They both sound muffled..my q 3020is sound way better
For Rock & Metal, do you recommend ELAC Debut 3.0 or RP600? I have Emotiva B1+ and it’s too linear / tame for me. I want more excitement
This is a common misconception about speakers, having a speaker that is "exciting" doesn't mean that it has to be non-linear, it actually has to do more with better dynamics than anything else. I've not heard the Emotiva speakers but the Klipsch is very dynamic because of it's sensitivity.
@@AV-Obsessed would you consider the ELAC Debut 3.0 dynamic or exciting?
great point abt the prospects of gummy coatings
I purchased these B2’s yesterday @ Crutchfield for their Black Friday sale. They r $100 off each. I’ll give them a long listening and let you know my thoughts 🤔
Many years ago,I had Q150 and dissapointed with craftmanship. After that,I always check it out that China made or not whenever I have seen KEF.
I also used to own the old KDF Q series and was not happy with them but the new ones are a huge improvement.
Although prob. not the best acoustic environment, for me its clear the R3 easily takes the cake. However, the Concerto did not disappoint, but in A/B it sounds more restricted and/or less 'easy'.
I know the finger prints on the gloss finish is a big issue for many, but honestly once I found the proper setup for them I never touch them unless I’m dusting them
Agreed, people talk about it like it is a big deal but it's not. just some pledge and a microfiber cloth once in a while.
I have some Polk LS90 towers with the gloss dark red finish and they look amazing. Once setup I only touch them to dust them.
You need to learn to keep your eyeline with the camera. NOT, whatever is off to your right.
That is really hard to do with my Stargardt disease (eye condition)
@@AV-Obsessed Sorry for your condition, and you will have to forgive my ignorance with its effects and more specifically, how it effects you, but you should really try to find a way to practice and make it work. It distracts from the professionalism and otherwise quality content. I'd love to see your channel thrive, and please take this as the supportive comment that it is intended, because to a passing viewer it would appear as though you were reading a script that is for some inexplicable reason 3 feet to the side of the camera. If you are unable to know the position of your eyes while recording due to your condition, try placing a marker to the left of camera and do a short recording, watch the playback and see where that puts your eyes. Adjust that marker until it has you staring into the camera appropriately. Hope that helps and looking forward to new content regardless!
Good video. Watched all the way through and your intro is fine. Everyone has to have a hook and that isn't really corny, it fits 🤷♂🤷♂👍👍
I appreciate the feedback and thank you for watching all the way through.
It'll be R3 Metas for me, after watching this vid. The only thing left now it to determine if there're any other speakers around that price range to consider. May consider stepping up to the PS Audio FR5. A giant deciding factor will be, as you put it, the precision of the imaging, and the ability of the speakers to disappear.
Can you do a video of the cantons please
I didn't think there would be such a huge difference in sound. The R3 Meta was very natural and articulate. The Concerto seemed more muted and oddly I thought I heard more reverb. But it would have been interesting to have a blind AB hearing test.
watch erin's audio review. It's very very close. Also darko audio (but he's a bit inaccurate at times). These audio clips over youtube compressed to what 128kbps is god awful. And they have to be pointed directly at the mic/not great since we are binaural
I def love the R3 and the rest of the Rx series but the new kef Q3 and series are such a good deal if you’re building out more than just a 2 channel system. If it’s just the 2 speakers, def like the R3 better. But you’re basically 90% of R series with the new Q series (again, thinking of a 5.1.4 system and up). Maybe add some “no rez” for the concertos etc. 🎉
I had a hard time really hearing the difference. I'm sure there is but on RUclips on my TV I couldn't tell. The more expensive Meta looks a little nicer, but I would definitely have to hear them in person. Price wise they have other speakers to compete with. I think for $2400 you can get jtr speakers.
teah, try watching on your phone and using headphones.
Thanks for sharing.
Great review. I was able to get a brand new indigo gloss r3 meta for less than the price of the concertos, so it was a no-brainer for me. Used the savings to splurge on their overpriced stands. 😆
Clarity, like detailed, is not (only) tonality/frequency related. Quality of filter components do matter a lot on this level.
Ps Bas seems to come from one side! Both speakers!
Not hearing that myself.
3rd song def. bass is panned left.
R3 meta, much better build quality.
For the money do the q concerto dissapear?
not as well as the R3 but if they are positioned right and you close your eyes.
Great job! A comparison between R3 and R3 Meta would be really cool too
You are fast becoming my favourite Speaker reviewer. Good job, well done.
Thoughts on the SB4000, or is that the SB16? I just got a pair of the SB4000s, and currently dialing them in.
It's the SB-4000 and it is great. So much output, fast and clean.
Wish I had the space for 2 of them!
@AV-Obsessed Ya it seems to slap pretty hard. Need to find the best spots in the room for them as the current location has a bad 22 hz suck out.
use a frequency generator to run a 22hz tone and then crawl around the room while the sub is in you listening position and where ever you are when the bass sounds best is where you put your sub.
Which one is easier to handle, and which one would fit better with the Marantz model M1?
both speakers would work great on an M1 the specs say they are both 4 Ohms and the concerto says 85db sensitive while the R3 is 87db so the R3 is a tiny bit easier to drive but it's not much of a difference.
Also, one correction: like the R3 Metas, the Q Concerto Meta bass drivers also come with KEF's hybrid aluminum cones, which is aluminum with a paper backing. You seemed to indicate that they are aluminum only.
I guess it did sound like I was saying that but I meant it's a normal surround not the inverted surround.
Unless my ears and mind are decieving me, I hear a better output from the R3 Meta. They are closer then their price may suggest. The Q's sound even closer in the rockier tunes. What Amp was driving them?
They are very close but yes the output from the R3s is better and the amp is the Marantz cinema 30.
What do you think would sound better out of the R3 Meta and the R5 meta?
Never seen this reviewer. Is he blind? I ask because of the lack of eye contact. Not being mean, just curious. He's got the stats memorized incredibly well. Good review! 👍
I am actually mostly blind I have no central vision only on the edges.
@@AV-Obsessed You're awesome dude !!!!!
from what i hear- and your room is definitely not the best- the Q is a bit too subdued in the highs for my taste. Also not to mention the finish on the R3- no comparison.
yeah, I really need some acoustic treatment for my room
KEF R3 Meta Indigo Gloss is my dream! But they never discounted, also dislike finish of Q Concerto
Thank you very much for your video, with what integrated amplifier and cables do you try the speakers? For me, If i have the money I just start with the Q concerto for one year, next year buy the R3 meta. I actually have the Elac Unifi UB52, its a great bookshelft speaker when you use a subwoofer.
I am powering the speakers with the Marantz cinema 30 and the cables I made myself.
anal about the finish...peel it off? otherwise good review
Great review! Thanks for sharing.
Brilliant video comparison. Very useful to see these two together. I definitely agree after watching this and my own experience that the r3 meta is definitely the better speaker.
These KEF Concerto vs the 3 Way Elac Unify UB5. Would be an awesome comparison to see as the UB5 are also fantastic 3 way speakers.
Thought the KEFs def had a richer and fuller sound but kinda preferred the highs of the Elacs
The blue ones are absolutely badass and they sound really really good can’t wait to hear them after the 150 hour break-in period
Could you make a comparison of these q concert meta vs monitor audio studio 89?
Would absolutely love to do that but I have no way of getting them without losing a lot of money. If anyone from Monitor Audio sees this...?
Thank you for the review. I’ve been going back and forth between these and the KEF Q series… hoping to find these on a Black Friday sale!
The elac sounded smoother, more open, bigger soundstage, more cohesive….😮
I'd imagine difference is to be expected with the massive difference in price range, kefs being 3 to 4+ times the price per speaker, but aside from that note, I'll add that I got a debut 3.0 surround sound setup. Ran dirac live and it solved a lot of the imaging issues both in surround and stereo. I wonder how both compare after a dirac correction (and this was only a 3 pt correction so far). I'd love a kef setup someday but rn 1500 for a full surround system vs 3k+ for the equivalent kef, is making me wait for used or until i have that money to burn. Even then, these debut 3.0s with dirac are great. (Lx505 here).
kind of lame you buy it review it and then return it. your bottom rung as far as reviewers go
Well, companies will only send review samples to channels that have a lot of subscribers and buying them and keeping them would cost way to much so this is the best way yo start a channel. Also I have no bias since no one is doing me any favors and I have no confirmation bias because most people want things they spent their own money on to be good since everything I buy gets returned (unless I really like it).
I have a different point of view to that. Who gives a chit? Most stores are not going to let you make a habit of returning gear all the time. Though BB is pretty liberal.. especially with Open Box. I've bought a lot of equipment from BB just to try it out. All of it open box because I want the cheapest price. If it's really good I'll keep it. Usually it's not good enough...so it gets returned or I'll sell it if I can get within dollars of what I spent. The type of upcharge we see as consumers for audio gear is ridiculous. There is no where to demo equipment anymore. Shipping costs & restocking fees if it doesn't work out. I have no issues with how anyone gets a piece of equipment..or that they share an opinion about it before returning it. What's unethical to me is a reviewer getting a free piece of equipment & talking it up like the next best thing. No negative reviews. Affiliate links to garbage. Giving up your integrity for a few Likes. Obviously I'm not talking about all reviewers. Instead of ranting on & on I'll just say again I have no issue with it. And after making friends with a couple BB managers they don't put the highest value on open box items. In this ridiculously priced hobby I say take advantage any chance you can. No offense to this reviewer here but I don't think he is pulling in the RUclips money to purchase these for review..& he was honest about it.
@NosEL34 good points thanks for sharing
