Poor Raya. Our Australian cattle dog had a similar injury about 5 years ago. So hard to watch such a playful and energetic dog forced into “quiet mode”. Prayers for Raya!
I'm crying for little baby Bambi, her pain makes me feel terribly sad....but she will get better, I'm sure, all of my love for her and hugs and kisses💔

The situation is even more cruel because Raya is not an ordinary doggo. Raya has the energy of 10 doggos and loved to spend her days running & playing. For her to now rest & walk slowly on 3 legs for at least 4 weeks is like Usain Bolt being told not to run.

I was also wondering if pain meds were not in order but I am no vet so we have to accept that that was off the table for Raya's best interest

I've been through serious injuries to almost all of my dogs. My biggest piece of advice is this. Don't pitty her, and don't treat her too differently. Show her love and care, but don't give her pitty or be too sad. They move on fast, and get better fast. She knows she is loved. Guide her with a steady and happy heart and she will get through the worst of it better. I'm sorry you have to hear her in pain. It hurts to hear that.

Finger millet (we call it ragi) is a very good source of calcium.
Here in India southern parts we give ragi poridge (finger millet poridge) for those who had any bone issues and even here vets suggest ragi for fractures in animals

My medium potat broke her back leg because of her wild nature. A couple days in a cast and pain medication, she bounced right back. Felt bad for caging her but she still need to rest.
She made a full recovery and actually tore the second cast off. Which at the point my vet said let’s try without the cast and cage rest wish I could post a picture of my grown potat.

Poor baby, the cast probably needs to be adjusted and she should have been given something to ease her pain a bit.
Painkillers of any kind are not recommended for dogs. It really hurts to see them suffer from injuries like those and not be able to do much about it.
@@CalebCalixFernandez actually not true. There are great pain relievers available that are very effective, and safe.

It hurts so much to see the pain and confusion poor sweet Raya went through. Oliver I know how hard it is for you and your family that you can’t take her pain away. Darling Suki trying to help Raya is so touching. Time is healing her and I pray the cast is off by now and she is finally comfortable and moving around well. God bless this beautiful well-loved family.
I'm so used to Raya be so energetic & happy that it's really heart breaking to watch her like this, so sad and quiet and in pain. I wish I could reach across the computer screen and help her.

Poor baby girl. I kept wondering what might have happened. I don't think it's just because she's fast and I'm sorry if I missed something, but it's possible there could have been a dip or a hole in the ground covered up by grass that she might have tripped in. I've seen a few of them in big fields that are either made by rabbits or other creatures digging and because they're covered up by the grass, not even humans can see them. I've almost stepped in some of those and if a human being were to step in one of those and keep walking they would break their like too.

Sooooo sooorrrrryyyy.. she is so lovely , she can come back from this I promise . It is on us , we just have to be vigilant and patient . Heart wrenching to hear her cries . Once she learns to adapt , it will be better . And the initial pain she is in is awful and again her body will supply endorphins to help but her body has to create them and for that she has to be in pain . So really sad for you all . Hope she feels better every day....some people take a large towel and fold it in fourths... Put it under her armpits. And take the ends up and hold them. And help lift her front part up a little so there is no weight on her leg. Walk a long side her. So her other muscles will get exercise....prayers for all of you....

I would ask the vet for some non steroidal meds for pain. They are out there. And she needs to drink!
NSAIDs are not recommended in bone fracture because they inhibit the formation of Osteoclasts, the 'glue' essentially that heals the fracture. Simple strong painkillers like codeine are more beneficial, but not without their side effects
I'm sure Raya was given something to help her pain while she was sedated.
Probably an injection.
I'm sure Oliver was given specific instructions & possibly mild meds for Raya to help her pain.

@@gaggymott9159 Short term, shouldn't cause any significant osteoclast inhibition. Besides, it's osteoBLASTs we need to see activated to repair the fracture. Still, I'm not a vet, I deal with hairless apes for the most part.
She will get better in a few days, wen the inflammation reduces and her bones start it's reformation process, since she is young, it won't be too tough... She is light weight too.. Hope her Vet has given her oral pain meds.. Wish her speedy recovery

Broken bones sure do hurt - I remember from when I broke my ankle. But with humans at least we know what it is and we know there’s a time frame in which it will heal.

Just hearing little Raya crying in pain breaks my heart. With hooman 1 and hooman 2 along with Suki taking care of her she is in good and loving hands.
