That's actually completely false and an urban legend. The FBI used money to bribe the "weakest links" - klansmen who weren't to keen on "killing white people" and believed this group went too far. FBI agent Joe Sulllivan (a friend of my uncle who was also in the FBI), who was a great me btw, obtained the information of where the 3 kids were buried by a Mississippi Hwy patrolman who got it from one of the perpetrators (and money was exchanged for the information).

It is wonderful that the Andrew Goodman Foundation was established to continue his good works. That sad, terrible night was truly a pivotal moment in civil rights history as it gave impetus to the passage of the important Voting Rights Act. We shall always remember the courage of these brave men.
