    I’ve had a few people ask if the black and white buttons can be remapped. I tried it, and unfortunately not. The Xbox just recognizes them as RB and LB, it doesn’t even know they are separate buttons. So you can remap RB and LB, but it’ll remap both the actual bumpers and the black and white button (maybe there’s a way around this, by this is what happened when I tried it in the Xbox menu)

      I got the first green duke controller and had the same problem with drift on the joysticks and the triggers were doing triple inputs just by shaking the controller. So i had enough and left it for 2 years-ish then i wanted to use it again as it's a cool looking controller so i tried to use it again and it still had the same problem, I probably wish it would work magically again if i didn't use it but no. ((Do not try this yourself)) So i decided to open it up and see what the problems were, i used a air can to blow out the dirt if there was any and see if that was the problem but when i looked at the bored of the controller the soldering done was so poor that there was white marks where the solder had got too hot and made white stains on the motherboard. The joysticks were bad to as they were creating a lot of dirt as they were falling apart inside the shell of the controller. So i cleaned the inside of the joystick sensor and moved it around so it got in there and then i used a air can to blow out anything trapped inside, when it came out it was black. i replaced the joystick knobs too. Then with the triggers i moved them constantly and used a air can to remove any dirt and kept trying to see if it fixed it and it did after the 4th time. And yeah i agree screw hyperkin for making a controller that falls apart while you use it.

    I love the OG Duke controller. It has a SEGA Dreamcast feel but I'm more into Sony consoles. I've always gotten both consoles for the most part. PS1-PS5 and Xbox, 360, and now Series X. Must admit that there's something about that controller I've always liked but I could never use it because my hands were always to small as a kid growing up. I got the Cortona Duke and Translucent Green Duke controller to use on my Series X and I enjoy using the controllers when I play Halo with it. Only thing is that the controllers are only good for nostalgia and short term use. My Cortona "Halo" Duke Edition already broke after a 2wks of usage. The controller zooms me in and out of ADS when I play Halo and it's disappointing to see that it's broke already after 2wks. If you plan on buying, try getting it off eBay for a cheaper price or take your chances buying because it might not last you long.

    Sad they did not make the black and white button pressable. The addition of extra trigger on the back is cool, but not having black and white button is a missed opportunity. What is the point of buying a retro controller that does not play like the old one? They could also make it so the 2 extra buttons could be remappable. Anyway this controller is too expensive ...

    I do like the face button layout. It's comfortable to press A and B at the same time unlike the normal diamond layout. The form factor is whack though

    Simply because I like the original Xbox logo more, I'd go with the Cortana one. $90 is kinda pricey, but for a flashback I'd say it's worth it.

    It's wired only because there's literally a small LCD screen in the controller so power consumption is high. Would be interesting to see how long they would last however, on only battery power.

    Did you have any problems with the controller? Because I've been looking and people say that the analogs break or that the rt has input, according to them it broke playing constantly

  • @turismofoegaming8806
    @turismofoegaming8806 2 года назад

    The buttons on the old controller have the mushy feel because they are pressure sensitive! A feature I wish they had a never dropped- both PS2 PS3 Xbox original and Xbox 360 all head pressure sensitive face buttons!!
    It wasn’t until the PS4 and Xbox one that they quit manufacturing pressure sensitivity package due to the cost of manufacturing, as well as the rare components needed to make pressure sensitivity possible.. their excuse was that no games used to feature which is odd considering PlayStation number one licensed game Gran Turismo had made use of them since Gran Turismo 3,4,5 & 6🤫
    Fun fact:
    One of the original PS2 controllers that had been broke in really good over the course of a couple years, had a D pad that had more sensitivity in it than the analog stick did!? And this is why all the hard-core fans of Gran Turismo back then steered the car with the pressure sensitivity pad! That was of course before they started making the cheaper versions which were even more mushy and did not have half the sensitivity….

    • @jrob0021
      @jrob0021  2 года назад

      I’m not sure about on windows as I don’t currently have a windows PC, but on Xbox they’re just registered as RB and LB (along with the actual bumpers as well)

    • @the_dietcam
      @the_dietcam 2 года назад +1

      @@jrob0021 dang, if they're hardwired to be the same as LB an RB then that's a shame, would have been a nice little nod to the original controller to rebind them to their original functions in games like the flashlight and switch nades in Halo CE.

    I remember these controllers when the Xbox came out
    They were way too big...
    I was in middle school and everyone I knew hated it, we all got the second generation controllers as soon as they came out and never looked back
    Whenever we would have Lan parties it would be the last resort controller for people who didn't bring any controllers
    It was always like "man, remember the duke? Screw that controller!"
    It's really weird seeing this release and my students be all excited for it
    "Nostalgia!"
    For me it's like if Sony released the boomerang PS3 controller and everyone was excited
