@@thegoodridesnow ya sounded like at the beginning was said to be a 58W and same with other guy in video! But being a demo I see why it could have been a off size thanks and yes it's a carving bust through anything dream!
@@jasonrobertson5479 The old Aviator was a 158w and that was stuck in my mind when I did the 2.0 review. We did ride a 159w and it is the same as the production model. Sorry for the confusion!
I am 5'5" bouncing between 162lb' and 165lb's I wear a size 9 salomon launch boa may try a 9.5 next time I buy boots but I am looking between a 154cm and 156cm aviator the weight range for the 154 Max's at 170lb's so was wondering if I should go longer for the 156cm 140-190 weight range?
So first off I would get your true shoe size on a Brannock scale and also get your width. Knowing that will help you better size your next boot. If you have a wide foot you might like a boot that runs wider. The Launch runs on the narrow side so you might be sizing up to compensate for a wider foot instead of a longer foot. Regarding sizing It depends on how you ride now (make/model/size/year) and how you like it. I would say if you like riding fast and like a bigger board, get a different model that better matches your riding style. If you want to utilize the twin nature of this ride, throw it around switch and spin but still have a very satisfying carver go 154 but that's still a bit big for you. It matches your weight (Jones says up to 180lbs) and boot size well enough unless you zero out your stance angle on the back foot and carve super hard. @thegoodridesnow I'm must be blind to not see that the max was 180 I must have gotten the MTN twin sizing stuck in my head. As for my foot size I will definitely have to measure them again I've been a 9.5 in normal shoes, but the size 9 fits well my toe does touch the front of the boot but not to the point where it's uncomfortable or bending my toe
No worries. You might have gotten info from another site with inaccurate info. There are many out there. Yeah get on a Brannock scale for sure. Make sure it barely touches when standing up straight and then barely doesn't when leaning into a toe side turn.
Thanks for the review. Sorry, one more sizing question. 177cm. 75kg. 9.5US Vans Infuse, advanced rider, near 50 year old. Currently riding Yes. Standard 156. I want the aviator 2.0 to bomb more stable, faster edge to edge, avoid heel washing out in black runs carving. Ollies at speed, sidehits, and the occasional park lap mostly jumping straight medium jumps. The standard carves well but in really steep terrain requires too much leg on heel carves to get a pencil line. Thanks in advance
The Aviator 156 or 158 could for sure work coming from the Standard 156. It's a lot stiffer and has more of an aggressive/lively pop to it. For some the lifted sides starting before the camber ends can feel washy if you weight your turns heavy on the front foot or back foot. If you weight very centered it could work. Here is the thing though. You have given me just enough info to give you advice but not enough for it to be good. im 6'0 160/165 lbs . Parents ordered a 162 cm instead of a 158 for my birthday :(. do you think, while it might not be ideal, that this could work for me? or do you think itll be way too big
Heyo, first of all very nice review. Maybe you can help me with my decision. Im 5.8ft and about 165lbs. I can get my hands on 158cm, 156cm and 154cm. Do you have an advice for me, which size would be the best or definitely to big/small, after riding it by yourself?
I am about 5’8” 170-175 I ride very aggressive and like to lay out carves but I hate my toes dragging. I have size 9.5 boots I ordered the 159w so I would have no issues with toe drag. I was going to order the 158 last year but they sold out before I could get one and when they had a 159w this year I figured why not if I could get toes completely tucked away. But after seeing your review I’m worried I won’t have enough leverage to engage the edges properly should I try to switch to the 158?
Some love wides with your boot size for the same reason. Some really don't and would much rather ride a shorter/wider ride. I wish Jones made a 156w as that would be a much better fit for your specs. Maybe exchange it for a YES Standard Uninc 156 (review coming but a mostly camber Standard), Korua Otto 157 or Ride Algoryhthm 155w, Burton Cartographer 159 or Lib Tech Dynamo 159. What make, model and size are you riding now?
@@thegoodridesnow I have a quiver but this is going to be my new daily rider I feel myself moving away from jibs in the park and am enjoying laying out soul turns and getting big air on side hits. I had a twin pig which was super fun but I wanted more length and more radius the pig series is sick but I want a longer faster radii. I settled on the aviator because of the koroyd tip/tail I’ve been seeing this tech in skis and wanted to feel it in a board setting. Plus this board seems like something that will push me and I haven’t felt challenged in a while, I think this will give my riding life and something to look forward to again.
I basically am your stats and went down the 159W route. 9/9.5 boots, 5'8 at 170-175 pounds, and rides pretty aggressively on and off piste. I'm no longer loving this set-up. Exactly as James said, this board does do all those aggressive things really well but maybe I'm just not that strong anymore but this thing wears me out after one good day. It pops like hell but inevitably my legs just can't activate the pop on consecutive days. I have a HTH, came from a twinpig, and has a DOA as my daily park board. I'm actually trying to find someone that wants to size up so I can size down because I really love this board. Good luck and would love to hear what your experience was.
@@thegoodridesnow thanks, I’m torn between that and the Bataleon Goliath. I love the idea of catch free but want something that may grip a little better when icy
Neither will be catchy. The Goliath is less catchy but the JMT isn't catchy at all and massively less catchy than full camber. It does have more grip in harder snow too.
@@thegoodridesnow thanks so much for the reply. Think I’ll go with jones mt. I’m 165 pounds and 5,9 with a size 9.5uk boot. I can only find one in either 157 or 151. Would I get away with one of these or would you keep looking for a 154?
Definitely no on the 151. 157 will be narrow for 10.5 US/9.5UK but it will be doable if you have reduced footprint boots, dont carve hard and dont ride steeper terrain. If you do I would look for the 156w.
All reviews I see on this board call it a great hard charging, carving board with hard snow edge hold. Your review and rating of this board doesn't score it well for carving.
@The Good Ride okay amazing. I bought it today and rolled the dice on it! I thought it may have reference the original aviator. All reviews of the original said the front end was loose and would wash out on carves. I guess the 2.0 corrected it! Now I gotta find some bindings to match!!
Hi guys! Thank you for the comprehensive review!
Thanks and happy to help.
