There’s so much that they did right with dying light one but with dying light two I feel like because they made it so full of foliage trying to continue off the growth of dying light one it took away from the dreadful and eerie like set up of dying light one if they would’ve stuck with the same premise and color scheme, the game would’ve felt more fear not to mention. All of the characters seem so hopeful and optimistic, whereas in dying like one, they felt more nihilistic which served such a core purpose to your character.
Keep in mind that there was barely anyone from DL1 team been working on DL2 and it actually went through dev hell ,ppl dropping off due to working enviroment also.
There's a specific reason why they went with the vibrant color scheme. The warm colors make you feel at peace which kind of makes sense because everything is dead. Whereas in the first game it has these dull, washed out colors because the whole city's screwed and there's not much you can do about it.
DL2 has that foliage because over time Nature would reclaim itself and that's being portrayed here. Also, people have survived for 15 years in Villedore and know how to survive the THV even when infected. (Staying in UV, Taking boosters, Taking Inhibitors ect) so now all they can hope for is their Civil war to end and peace among people. In DL1 it's only been around 3 Months since the virus started and there's no hope at all since no one has ever seen this virus or had to live through it before so of course they'd see it as the end of the world just like the world would have immediately after The Fall. I agree that DL2 does take away from the core horror aspect (Especially in the Day but nights have been getting better after the Darker Nights setting and finally replacing Howlers with Volleys at night) but there is reason behind why they are so different in characters and environment even if the core horror aspect as lessened with DL2
If that's a problem to you, its pretty subjective. The games have different themes. Dying light 1 is supposed to feel like the downfall of society, its bleak. Dying light 2's theme is that there is hope, and humanity can be salvaged if someone is willing to do the right thing despite their tough situation.
DL1 story was mid to be honest, Dl2 is also mid in story, however DL2 gameplay is just a lot more fun and engaging, especially the parkour and Traversal, who doesn't like a realistic grappling hook?
I miss having uniqe locations and interesting point on the map. Beyond what's marked on the map, there's no reason to Explore DL2 map, theres not even any suplies lying on the ground, everything is copy and pasted. It misses stuff like, house full of supplies, bridge full of medkits, van with cables. To reward players that look for stuff.
That's the whole point of an apocalypse. You aren't getting houses full of supplies. There may be few prepper stashes like Far Cry 5, but that's about it. You're not gonna get rewarded for every single thing you do. That's what makes DL2 more realistic and better.
@@sebastiangazarik3066broo theres now way 😂 you just exagerated everything he said 😂 he never said houses should be full of zombies lol and second of all in a zombie apocalypse there whould be MORE supplies cause of the massive amount of dead people not using them compared to the small amount of scavengers
@markcampione3118 I never said there should be houses full of virals. In fact, that's even more unrealistic. Maybe just a few nests scattered here and there. A standard house should have maybe just one family, and that's it.
@@sebastiangazarik3066 Okay then why everyone in Villedor are stucked with everything they need? There's a lot of stuff everywhere during gameplay. Full shops, full houses of supplies. But that's not my point, the point is to make a map more interesting, no repeating buildings, different locations, reasons to explore beyond points marked on the map. DL2 map is boring and repetitive. Same buildings same interiors, with the same boxes and closets always in the same place. But good for us DLTB is going to have a crafted map, so that issue will be solved.
I miss the effect that dl1s side missions had on the world The entire bridge loses power at night during that one electrical mission, forever gettind rid of that beautiful scenery for safety. Or the wall you destroy in the bomb mission is a must have to save time I wish dl2 had these, atleast having the roads be saturated after getting water back, or zombies being moist
The biggest difference is the story immersion...DL1 is more gripping since there is a threat of a global apocalypse and it feels like it's up to you and your allies to stop it...DL2 is more "clan centric"... in a world that is mostly wasteland you fight to keep a dead city alive...so while your actions will affect the citizens of one city, it has less of a global impact. Also, in my humble opinion the super-powers aspect of new zombie games doesn't hit the mark...yea yea I understand that zombie games need to evolve to remain relevant, but DL1 is far superior story wise.
Ngl the dying light 2 superpowers aspect, techland are some of the same people to work on dead island 1 and riptide (they probably grabbed the fury idea from dead island and just ran with it) due to time constraints
I feel like DL2's map is built better for the gameplay, and can still look beautiful. DL1's map feels like a real place, more grounded with a stronger atmosphere
no the biggest difference is the volatiles while your shitting bricks in dying light 1 in dying light 2 they became jokes pretty early on why? wel i blame critics on this one post release it was to hard for them to just fricking run from volatiles and not expect you can fight them right away now the volatiles are back but they are more of a addon then completely integrated into the game like dying light 1 they lost what made them scary i really sometimes hate critics because often they do not know shit about the topic they judge yet they contributed in making the game worse
What Techland really should to is to set a small team on reworking the interiors and make them unique and create a lot more interiors with tiny stories. Would make this game a roaming paradise. What I always imagine Dying Light 2 to be.
I wish the sky wasn’t so blue and the vegetation so green it makes it over saturated and hard to look at sometimes also would be nice if there was a light fog the further you look to feel more apocalyptic
What really doesn’t make sense to me is that trees grow on the rooftops after 15 years. I mean it’s possible, but trees on almost every roof doesn’t make sense to me, most roofs would’ve collapsed at that point or would bear small vegetation
I’d love a dying light map set on an island similar to ones we’ve seen in far cry. Maybe a post apocalyptic resort island. Similar dying light 1 vibes with 2s mechanics.
The one thing I would tell tack land for dying light too is make me feel scared make me always have to check over my shoulder every single time. I hear a random noise cause I’ll tell you what the first game made me shit myself when when I first played it.😂
Haven't played the second one yet. But one of the problems that I had with the first one is once, I clear a place of zombies and I'd start to loot, or I checked the entire place for zombies and I go to Lock, pick something, 1 would spawn right behind me.
the main reason people say dying light 2 is a parkour game with zombies is because the ground to roof ratio is very unbalanced, your rarely on the ground and in dl1 it’s mainly ground and parkour is usually used to escape from people or zombies
Since DL2 takes place in the final city on earth(supposedly)- the final phase of chases should include hordes of zombies crawling up walls like WWZ. There’s enough zombies it could happen.
A dying light set during the fall of civilization like a day 1 outbreak of the harran virus after dying light 1 where the world evolves the longer you play and more and more infected and volatiles spawn. Hell they could even have spike be the main character. I think it would be an amazing game, making it more horror like 1 instead of 2
Dying light 2 makes the end of the world seem casual and everybody just says 'Mondays am I right' dying light gngl feels like a horror game everyone is terrified and they understand what is going on and how screwed they are. That's my weekly yapping session
I prefer the dense city aesthetic though i wish it was denser with more diverse areas With DLC2 i hope we get to see more of the natural landscapes we saw at the start, it was such a cool part of the game and i felt that it was a shame we only got it temporarily at the beginning
I feel like dl2 was made for you to parkour across the rooftops and sync with all your nightrunner tool however, I feel like the coloring and shading is what really lets the game down
definitely should first play dyinglight 1 And then after you Beat it then play the dlc called (THE FOLLOWING ) which has a better story than both games and add bugys
What dying light 2 lacks is the volume of zombies, especially on the ground, and the variety of zombies. They all look/sound the same, especially the virals. I hope the next dying light goes back to its roots.
Dying light 1 has an entire map where you can transverse verticality its called old town and the thing is you can climb just about everything without the yellow hand holds and set obstacle courses Dying light 2 is a ubisoft game and Dying light 1 is a techland game im hoping the beast fixes the biggest issues in dying light 2 especially the lack of content and actual good characters who aren't just angry or stupid all the time
I think Dying Light 2's environment just feels much more like a game and more artificial, whereas Harran is infinitely more (and I know this word is overused) immersive
Now first thing I'll say, which is an unpopular opinion, I like Dying Light 1 AND 2. While they both are good games to me they both do pose their problems. Like in the video, 1 has more Zombies, activities and fits what game is trying to sell, while 2 is more parkour based but still holds itself pretty well despite being a huge failure at launch and bringing itself up in years that followed. They both have good parts and bad parts but I like them both. Wonder how many people are gonna try tearing me apart because I said the forbidden words: "I like DL2" even though my likes should affect no one except myself.
I feel like I can finally respect your opinion where as you don’t just complain completely about how the 1st game is better. Thank you I feel like I’ve been heard 😭
Dying light 2 would've been so much better if they kept the combat of the original with a few tweaks and how much there is to do and it would've been so much better than how it ended up
Combat is miles better than the one we got in the first game. The reason why people keep saying that something's lacking in the second game but never pinpoint what exactly is lacking is simply because there's no ragdolls in the second game. That's what the game's "lacking". They made physics animation based. So no, the game doesn't really have much to change but to bring back ragdolls and improve collisions because you get stuck at the smallest bumps in the second game.
